Has anyone played against the U/B Emerge Eldrazi deck? .-. it feels like such a bad match-up since most of the removal doesn't line up. Just looking for some advice on the match-up since I keep getting paired against it at FNM.
..which threats are troublesome, so that Path, Supreme Verdict, Settle the Wreckage, Logic Knot and Cryptic Command cannot handle them ? Wink

I don't like no Serum Visions at all. Card selection is what the deck needs I think and raw card advantage from Jace, Azcanta and Hierogliphyc is additional.
..yeah, seems like Nikolich, Sukenik and Negri disagree. They have more reps with this deck than any other player on record/camera and I cannot help but give them credit for their choices. it`s not an argument by authority but rather seems to follow a judgement call correlated with a deeper understanding of how this deck performs optimally..

I feel like the terminus lists with jace are significantly more clunky than brad and seth's 3 teferi lists.
    concur.
i tried the Terminus lists with Jace and had to mulligan so many times due to having 1-2 of them in the opening hand and i never wanted the sweeper in my hand.. its really only good on top of our library.. and any failure of having it there, either by Jace putting it there or having it randomly there, resulted in losses against the aggressive decks of the format.
whereas the 3 Teferi list is just happy to have the PW in the hand and riding it to victory.. as someone already pointed out, with 3 in the main you can use the -3 more deliberately and if one is lucky to have a Field of Ruin active, that card tucked away is now going to get shuffled back into the library.
that is a win in my book.

The curve does not stop at 4, Snapcaster Mage is a great 6-drop. I ran one Izzet Charm in my maindeck for a while and the looting mode of it was the one I used the least. Plus, there's Desolate Lighthouse.
Snapcaster Mage is a great card at 3 mana, at 4 mana, at 5 mana, at 6+ mana, and it starts losing value at more than 10 mana (sometimes he is even good at 2 mana).
Every card in the deck is castable with 4 lands, is what i should have written Wink
Winner at SCG Louisville was also quite happy with Faithless Looting in a Blood Moon deck.

.. is Faithless Looting viable in this deck? so one can discard additional copies of Blood Moon, lands, Jace or just cards not suited for the match-up like harvest pyre or electrolyze.. also the curve stops essentially at 4 so lands loose a looooot of value beyond that point, gladly digging for live cards.

I'm thinking of dropping my single Nahiri, and maybe the Gearhulk to go with it. Neither have had a huge impact on my games lately, so I'm thinking of going Ajani Vengeant and maybe another Helix (I'm at 2 right now).
..always felt that 3 Helix + Ajani is right. Burn/Affinity match-up is much more manageable and it follows the game-plan in a more consistent fashion.

Ajani locking down cavern of souls Vs. E tron was a sweet move TheAller! I can't let go of the helix man in my Control List just because he always has these type of interactions come up! I do play 1x Nahiri as well.
..feel the same about the helix man and i was wondering why not play him main in the bybrid-build (like the one posted by TheAller) since he never felt dead in any matchup. at his worst he`s throwing a helix at the opponent.. so in that case he would take the place of the 4th Lightning Helix.
Regarding the 1-of Nahiri, i don`t like her if we do not play a Gearhulk in the list, so that she is more than just a looter (and the occasional Disenchant).

Just started playing jeskai queller about two weeks ago- loving it so far, but when I look at a new deck, I try to figure out what is core and what is flex in the card slots. (...)

I don't think anybody has many doubts about what the core of the Jeskai Queller lists is, am I wrong? I think it's pretty obvious to everyone.

By the way if you want to do mana curve calculations for some reason, neither Snapcaster Mage nor Logic Knot are really 2 CMC cards.
..fully agree on Snapcaster, but Logic Knot is more often than not a spell one plays for UU and some cards from the grave. mana efficiency is key..

there doesn`t seem to be a consensus on 23 lands or 24. how do you guys even calculate this ?
it has to be some form of number of cantrips and CMC considerations.. anyone care to explain how this works ?
    thanks !

ps. i bet there are some sweet jeskai decks at the scgtour this weekend. most played deck there i hear Smile

Is Queller worth any consideration in Nahiri based builds? It seems like a great curve of T2 - T3 disruption, T4 Nahiri with additional protection.
..i think it could be viable and plan on testing a build for the next mkm series. not sure how to split the counter suite since the 4-slot is quite jammed with planeswalker options and cryptics (also snap+2drop is clogging the turn4 plays). how do you plan on building the 75?

IMHO playing less than 4 Snapcaster here is like playing less than 4 Tarmogoyf in Jund. Picking and chosing some individual lists with less than 4 Snaps won't cut it. The vast majority of Jeskai Control lists that have good results run the fullset, regardless the way they're tuned.
..fully agree. there is no such thing as too many Snaps. most of the time when I get thoughtseized/inquisitioned during the first 2 turns of the game he bites the dust (my opponents value this card pretty high and so should we) and having only 2 in the deck afterwards seems like a real bummer. It's not at all uncommon to cast him main phase to flash back Serum Visions / Lightning Bolt and in some instances even Path to Exile.
Long story short, less the 4 copies just cannot be right.

I'm looking into adding more countermagic, most likely mainboard negate. If I try spell pierce I will cut AV altogether though and really go for that turn 6 kill.
..i like this approach more, since we don`t have to plan for the long run and keeping the board clean during those first few turns should be feasible. how many copies of Negate do you plan on running ?

..the Ixalan spoilers revealed a pretty juicy card for our deck: Evaporating Melody - it seems very strong to me and i am looking forward to playing with that card !

    Jeskai Control by Harlan Firer
13th Place at StarCityGames.com Classic on 5/21/2017 Modern

I find this deck to be rather interesting, 'cause it's a mix of Jeskai Geist and Jeskai Control, and this is something that has always intrigued me. The idea of being able to have a decent clock, but at the same time, being good at playing the attrition game.

I'm not saying I'm in love with this list, I don't know if I like the lack of Ancestral Vision for instance, 4x Electrolyze seems a bit much and I'm not sure Molten Rain is better than Spreading Seas, but the fact this list did well is interesting.
..i might be wrong but Firer seems to enjoy playing Jeskai a lot Smile
Indeed the 4 Elyze seem to be quite odd in the current meta. Other than that is might be right to go the Geist path and use Cryptic to tap down the team for the last few damage points..

..regarding our soft-counters: has anyone tried running the playset Rune Snag instead of the usual split between Mana Leak / Remand ? Also, how many cmc=2 counters would you suggest playing?
