Was playing with this deck heavily up until Dominaria came out and took a break from the format. Interested in picking it up again but waiting until rotation. Has anyone been pondering post rotation brews? Selling off my Hazorets and picking up a playset of Goblin Chainwhirlers today.
This is the kind of mono U build I've been looking for. I like playing draw go blue, UB or sultai brews but I don't like gettin hated out or just playing answers. I ran a Talrand deck for a while that was pro-active and not too oppressive. This feels like it could play the same way.
Any recent play experiences to share or changes? ...I know it's been like 6 months.
Perhaps the question isn't does this replace Bomat Courier in Ramunap Red but rather does this replace soul-scar mage or does Ramunap Red go back to more than 8 one drops? I can hear Falkenrath Gorger screaming "Make me proud!" at this card from the bulk rare box
I've added 2 Plateau and 3 Deflecting Palm in my side, it's mostly for Reanimator/Show & Tell
Not sure it's worth splash... but I was tired of losing too Reanimator/Show & Tell
Yes. I've been wondering why we have not all started doing this for so long. Is there a reason why Deflecting Palm is an all star in modern burn but not normally discussed for legacy? I've made the switch to playing mostly modern burn recently because I was also tired of losing to those 2 decks.
Saffron Olive posted a great budget RDW list a few weeks ago. google '2 tix red' Ive been crushing with it for a few weeks now. Replace the Borderland Marauders with Kari Zev tho. and if Earthshaker Kenera from HOU is cheap when the set comes out pick them up too.
The Marvel player will most likely be facing lethal when ulamog hits the board. I imagine they might nuke game ending creatures like ahn-crop crasher over nuking lands. The more I think about it, it seems threaten effects maybe aren't necessary at all. We just want to play fast and get around their creatures. If we can't burn it, just make it not able to block and win. Most of the sideboard options here beside dif situational burn spells like lightning axe, magma spray and dual shot/ Chandra's pyrohelix essentially slow the deck down. I went back and watched the videos and he never boards in more than 1 or 2 of the other cards. We really just want to always be faster than the other decks.
True, Release is pretty mana intensive. Gonna grab some By Force's
I like the instant speed of Dual Shot the same way I prefer Built to Smash. Dual Shot can be used to clear out dudes in combat especially in response to a Whirler Virtuoso activation or two
I def made the switch to SaffronOlives build and tweaked it just a bit.
-3 Borderland Marauders for 3 Kari Zev. We can go wider and also menace is good.
-1 Incendiary Flow for 1 Invigorated Rampage
Ive seen a lot of debate over Built to Smash vs Consuming Fervor. I personally like the element of surprise with built to smash. We already cant avoid some 2-for-1 situations with the Cartouche. Not sure if the extra long term pump is worth the added risk of that. It already seems pretty easy to get 20 damage in 4 turns without that extra nudge.
Not sure of my sideboard yet but considering adding some Dual Shots for pesky servos & thopter tokens. Kari Zev's expertise cuz why kill their big dude when you take use it yourself. and Release the gremlins. if we gotta remove a troublesome artifact, might as well get a creature and continue to be aggressive.
- no more core sets to inject balance and answers into standard
- EDH partners are kinda broken in the fact that you can basically build a 4 color deck around a 2-color general.
- no mtgo for Mac's
- dumb buyouts and price manipulation of cards on the 2ndary market
if people are running Invigorated Rampage, Consuming Fervor, Bomat Courier and Reckless Bushwhacker, would inventor's apprentice and ornithopter be better creatures than some of the one drops here?
Cheers! I'm running basically the same list. With all the discard outlets though, consider running Fiery Temper over Consuming Fervor either to clear out a blocker or just go str8 to the dome. Will also lessen some of those 2 for 1 situations with the aura.
Ive also been running Hanweir Garrison instead of Ahn-Crop Crashers. Plays real well with Invigorated Rampage. I'm gonna try crashers and see how they play.
Theres definitely a strong mono Red deck out there waiting to be solved. Excited to see all the diff brews get there soon.

Wrangle cant grab an Ulamog or heart of kiran
