  • posted a message on [MPR] Player Rewards Discontinued
    Good day, everyone.

I am a player like you, and I loved the MPR cards, really.
I tried to get my Tournament count as high as possible, since I wanted to get more of these cards.

Also, as a Level 1 Judge, I have taught new players about the game and how to get "free" cards, that are these Magic Player Rewards. New players (Including Children) were encouraged to play more and more sanctioned tournaments to get the FOIL Lightning Bolt, or any of the other cards.

I think that MPR increased the number of players in tournaments, and their wish to keep on playing more and more in tournaments.
So, from my point of view, it is a very bad idea to remove the Magic Player Rewards system, since it encouraged new players and old players to participate in more tournaments to be able to get cool cards.

I do not know what will they do to replace this wonderful system... But I Hope, I REALLY Hope, that it is a good one, because they are going to lose MANY players due to this.

I have sent an E-Mail to them using the webpage provided in the first post to complain about removing the MPR.

I also think that EVERYONE should send an E-Mail complaining about this.
This way, maybe, we can keep our valued Magic Player Rewards cards, and also get those prices they are talking about for local tournaments.

Here is the link to the website again:
    http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/news/111510

And here is a direct link to where you can send them an E-Mail:
    http://www.wizards.com/company/emailtoauthor.asp?author=Wizards%20of%20the%20Coast&headline=Magic%20Player%20Rewards%20Program%20Discontinued

I think that we have enough strength to keep MPR alive.
Please, send an E-Mail asking them to keep it !

    And green gets direct damage...

I do not like it, as I did not like Plummet...

So, Green is getting have Direct Damage, targeted removal, card drawing...
Green each Time gets bigger creatures for less Mana and Shroud

Stop beefing THAT much Green !

  • posted a message on Nighthawk or Gatekeeper?
pervythemilkman has a good point on Gatekeepers, but I voted for Vampire Nighthawk.

Vampire Nighthawk maybe does not have card advantage and it will be killed really fast...
The reason is that it is a very powerful threat on the battlefield.
Either your opponent gets rid of it or you can turn the tide of a game that you are losing.

If you are able to pump it in any way, like adding a +1/+1 counter, you put him out of Lightning Bolt range and it can be a BEAST
Now, with Totem Auras, Hyena Umbra makes him a 3/4 Flying, First Strike, Deathtouch, Lifelink hunter that destroys anything in its path, and needs to be destroyed twice ! (Yes, that Umbra does not work for Grixis, but you could try to use an Eel Umbra to protect him in a Grixis deck)
It stops Shroud creatures from attacking you, because even itself can destroy a Sphinx of Jwar Isle by blocking it. If you have two on the battlefield, one can attack while the other blocks.
Also Wall of Denial can stop him only once
And Gatekeeper of Malakir can make your opponent sacrifice an Eldrazi Spawn, or a token, or a small creature instead of their threat

I think that Gatekeeper of Malakir is better in the early game and after a sweeper, and Vampire Nighthawk is better in the rest of situations

I Hope this ideas helped you a little

They would not make it cost 4. Iona's Judgment would cry.

You have got a point there...
They could reduce the cost of Iona's Judgment to :2mana::symw::symw: too...

    Black-White for the win !

These days White has better removal than Black, and usually White has Exile Spells while Black has Destro Spells... I just thought that it could be possible, that is all...

I think Jund is too fast for this to be effective against it, though :-(

I wish the casting cost was 2BB. It's a defensive card anyway, and the token doesn't get Haste. It's still good as a sideboard card, but it would be nice to be able to actually cast it against other decks, as well.

    I wish it too...
    :4mana::symb::symb: is too much...
A 4 Casting Mana Cost Spell to Exile a creature is a lot too, knowing that we have Path to Exile, Journey to Nowhere and Oblivion Ring also, but it can be posible

    Good sideboard card against white.

I was hoping monoblack would get a better doom blade without restriction, a monoblack terminate. What creeps me out is that the suposed best color for creature removal is not the best, and is left with doom blade and smother while white has path and journey to nowhere. When is black getting the best removal instead of white, WotC?

I completely agree with you, Spanish mate...
Black needs a better good removal than White, since it has been since beginning of Magic The Gathering the best color for targeted removal...
As I said before, if this card's Casting Mana Cost was :2mana::symb::symb:, or even :1mana::symb::symb::symb: (OK, it will not be Uncommon anymore, but it would be Rare), then we would have an awesome removal...

Although is Awesome, I do not know if it will fit in my Sideboard... But I will have to try...
If I find many White decks in my meta the next weeks, I will use it for sure; but I am not confident enough...

    Awesome, simply and plain awesome

Black has MANY ways to get rid of this creature

Spells with "Sacrifice a creature" as a cost is an Idea that I REALLY like

    I want a playset...

...At least a playset and I will think about more decks for this creature

Red-Green ManLand: Better than the Black-Red ManLand... It seems Green always gets the best creatures these days. Even the White-Blue ManLand is better than the Black-Red one. At least the Black-Red could have been a 3/3, but as a 2/2 I would rather pay 1 more mana to get a 3/3

Green Legend: Now I understand completely why did they remove the Mana Burn... To make green even better... Also, they removed Upwelling from the core set for this, or so it seems.

These cards are REALLY good !
Although they are Green, I like them

(I am starting to Hate Green more and more everyday, sorry...)

    Hello !

I have made two Zombie Decks, and I would like to share the decklists with you.
They are my own Ideas and are for having fun, so maybe they are not as good as the ones that have been post, but I think they work pretty well:

They have more than 60 cards, I know, but they do their thing ;-)

    GRIXIS ZOMBIES

And the other deck of Zombies I have

    SPARTAN ZOMBIES(This is Madness)

I still am thinking about another Zombie Deck that could work, a Mono-Black Zombie deck, but I have not decided yet about the final distribution of the cards...

Of course, any comment about these decks is welcome and I will think about the advice that is given

Thanks a lot for taking your Time reading my post and have a nice day ! Kekeke

I just have to point out that there was a 6 mana 8/8 trample in Alpha.

True, it sucked. But this is definitely not an example of power creep. 16 years turned an upkeep cost into uncounterability. I think that's acceptable.

I also thought about Force of Nature without a Drawback and a good ability when I saw this creature

I also think that green is gettin more and more efficient creatures while other color don't

Even that, green has mana acceleration to get these guys out, and the other colors do not (Except maybe via Fetch-Lands)

So, if they want Landfall to be a great ability for all colors... Maybe they should make a Rampanth Growth or something like that in other colors

My cousin will be happy... There are GREAT Beasts for his Beast Deck, hehehe

Even you can use this in a deck without Blue Mana !!!

Mythic won't be utility rares my ass. God damn you Wizards. Somebody please run R&D over with a bus for me.

    I COMPLETELY agree with you...

Mythic Rares will be even more powerful than Rares... That is what WOTC should have said...

I do not like Mythic Rares... Magic gets a little more YugiOh-ish with more rarity... With 3 rarities was enough !

This card is going to be a bomb
They also said that the current standard and extended format was too quick and they wanted it to be a little bit more slow so they would make cards with higher Casting Mana Cost...
Why do they always lie to us and why do we always believe them ?

A card that is a two-card kill combo with a rare card in Magic 2010.
A spell capable of making a 14/1 token.
A creature that can sacrifice itself to make a planeswalker go to the graveyard.
    A legendary octopus
A spell that can allow you for no mana to put a creature from your library into play.
A card with the reminder text "The land continues to burn..."
A card that allows you to pay eight mana for four 4/4 fliers
A creature whose rules text includes the phrase "you win the game."
A cycle of cards that players have been begging us to print for years.
I agree about the Enemy Fetch Lands... PLEASE, BE IT !

I believe that the 4 4/4 Flying tokens will be some kind of Vampires... (Sengir Vampire Token anyone?)

The two-card combo will be an Icy Manipulator to use with Royal Assassin, I think

I would like that the spell that "reanimates from the library" is a black or a white spell

The land that has that flavor text is the land that makes mountains be like Lightning bolts, I think

    Another Phage the Untouchable ?

Another Ball Lightning... a 14/1 for Red... Red is getting more power than in the sets recently... But Green still gets MORE power as always... I believe that that spell will count the number of lands when it resolves to see if it creates a 7/1 or a 14/1

A Vindicate creature would be great, even if it is not Multicolor

I love Legendary creatures ! An Octopus will be great to play :-D
