Miyojin of Night's Reach lets me discard all my opponent's cards with Atraxa and keep it alive at the end of my turn with an extra counter, so I do not lose my Loyalty allies. Contagion Clasp & Contagion Engine proliferate Planeswalkers and Overflowing Chalice, Astral Cornucopia & Coalition Relic.
I have these cards that I am testing, but I do not know shich one fits best:
So, as I said, I am asking for your help...

I absolutely LOVE the card, but I have only one question...
Why are they moving away from the "And you gain that much Life"?
Those cards were kinda good for 1 vs 1, but were powerful and interesting for multiplayer, so you would become the main target; so you needed to use them wisely...
I wonder how will they push abilities to get the City's Blessing...
She seems like she could fit into a monument build quite easily. I think that strait vampires will probably want a different four drop since Sanctum Seeker is a far more impactful card in a strait build.
Exactly, very good point. Sanctum Seeker generates a bigger impact on the board:
A) If you control other Vampires and you attack, you are already taking advantage of them
B) If you control no other Vampires, it is a 3/4 that, right now, is difficult to deal with
(Although Black having a non-Legendary 4/4 without drawbacks is still a dream... Sanctum Seeker will have to do)
But...uhhh...It doesn't do anything but sit there at 3cmc? The enchantment itself has no ETB.
DOH!
Ok poop. For some reason (probably the choppy looking translation stuff) I thought you got an exile out of initial cast. Now this card stinks of WotC still being too careful with removal.
Where's my doom blade.
Yeah, for a 5 CMC it should have, at least, an ETB trigger to exile something...
As always, lowering the power of Black-White and giving it to Black-Green (Like the Legendary Enchantments of this set) Vindicate turned into Maelstrom Pulse / Abrupt Decay...
Now, Graveyard Recursion leaves Black-White too to go to Black-Green... And we get a VERY INTENSIVE Mana card that is too slow to do anything soon enough to survive...
meh... i dont wanna pay 4 mana for a 1/1 lifelink mythic that gives me a 1/1 token with lifelink on its base
is this really supposed to be mythic level ?
i think she should either be a 3 mana creature or at least be a 2/2
this feels like a another missed opportunity. this will be another super cheap mythic. why not make it decent. i mean one of the above changes (3 cmc or 2/2) wouldnt make her broken or unbalanced...would make her just fair
compare it with pia nalar... she is a 3 mana 2/2 (so both and just 1 color) and has also 2 other abilities
pia and kiran nalar would be another example for 4 mana (still just 1 color)
SO WHY IS THIS MYTHIC ? even worse than vona ...(maybe i am just disappointed cause i was looking forward to this card)
I cannot agree more...
A Mythic Legendary Creature, from my point of view, has three requisites:
1.- A Keyword ability for each one of its colors or types, and must fit with the Lore
2.- Power/Toughness equal to or bigger than half of the Converted Mana Cost, rounded up
3.- A Unique ability for this Legendary Creature, and must fit with the Lore
Now, let's see Elenda, the Dusk Rose :
1.- It is White, so Lifelink fits the color but also that she is a Vampire. For Black... Nothing? Deathtouch and Intimidate come to my Mind... Maybe Flying because she is a Vampire... But... Nothing? Seriously? Did I just splashed a color or made a two colored deck to fit this card to get nothing?
2.- Well, at least she will have a good body so she can survi... A 1/1 for FOUR Mana? Seriously? It is not what I expected...
3.- Let's see if she has a nice ability... Oh, well. It does something... particularly interesting... But it is a mechanic that requires something to build around. And "build around me" cards are cards I do not like... I like cards that have sinergy with the cards that are related to...
Let's compare her to Kumena, Tyrant of Orazca :
1.- Well, it has no keywords for none of its colors...
2.- What? Power/Toughness above average? For 3 CMC I get a 2/4... That is wonderful! It is not as offensive as a 3/3, but it can survive almost any RedSpellRemoval in Standard. Now THAT is Legendary.
3.- I Hope it compensates no Keywords with some ability... Unblockable? Draws Cards? Buffs all your merfolk permanently even if it leaves the Battlefield? Now this is MORE than a Lord! It is not a "build around me" card, it is a card that you put in a Merfolk deck and makes the deck even better. This card NEEDS to be answered ASAP.
Is this even worse than Archangels light ?
Mayne . . . My compassion 4 all da poor souls openin dat.
That is right, not even in Limited... If the trigger was "Whenever another Creature leaves the Battlefield..." instead of "Whenever another Creature Dies...", for instance, for that CMC, I would accept it a little more... But it has such a small body...
According to Mavren Fein's tale and Planeswalker Guide to Ixalan (Part 2) Elenda was supposed to be nine feet tall and a great warrior, having defeated all by herself Apostatine Princes' army on Torrezon. She was in addition the one who brought vampirism on the continent, being in fact the ancestor of all vampires on Ixalan.
So, a deadly quite-tall fighter and a "progenitor". Neither of these two traits are appropriately shown on the card. She's only a 1/1 with no combat abilities (first strike, deathtouch, some -X/-X tricks) that dies in almost every clash: and this is in my opinion the biggest flavor fail. In addition, to create vampires (the "ancestor" side I suppose) she must die, while it would have been more appropriate if one of her main abilities had been to turn creatures into vamps like both Olivia'scards do (in fact Elenda brought vampirism, not vampires, back home).
Ultimately the card, while not that weak in the right build (anthems and equipments to increase her power are always a thing), it's all but memorable, anonymous I would say, for the fact that the same abilities would have fitted any other WB vampire in the set. Yeah, I know Vorthoses can't always get what they want, but they can hope.
Having said that, I'm also positive Elenda will get a better treatment in the story. Let's wait and see.
Very well explained...
Now, furthermore, if it is the ancestor... Why is it weaker than any other Vampire of the set?
I prefer Mavren Fein, Dusk Apostle even above her... That creates Vampires!
When you make her a 1/1 without an ETB that at least gives her a single pump when played, she's too far below rate. Something like 'when blah blah enters the battlefield give one creature -x,-x where x is the number of vampires on the battlefield.
That would have been a great idea for a Vampire that kills its prey... I like that.
Legion Lieutenant is why she's a 1/1. They build from common up, seems like the reason. Still think 2/2 makes it Mythic or an ETB -x/-x or both.
Not good enough...
It will ETBF as a 2/2...
But Settle the Wreckage, which is (In my opinion) the best removal in Standard at the moment, completely dismantles this strategy....
Looking at new spoiled card Profane Procession//Tomb of the Dusk Rose and at its flavor text provided by cyberium_neo (Vona seeks the conqueror, Maiven seeks the savior, when they found the person...//...she is resting in her glorious tomb) Elenda third ability makes now more sense.
Another Mana expensive card for Black-White, that does not work very well with Elenda, the Dusk Rose...
Again, we can see all the Love that WOTC has for Green and Blue, and they leave Black-White and Black-Red aside...
ALWAYS, the worst for those color combinations...
Why don't you give players what they want, WOTC?
Nice to finally see Edgar's card. His Vampire token should have had Lifelink IMO, but he's cool.
My thoughts exactly. Only two more words! Vampire tokens used to have either Lifelink if they were 1/1 or Flying if they were 2/2. I understand that creating 2/2Flyers would have been overpowered... But at least Lifelink should have been enough.
Edgar would be good if most vampires weren't 4cmc+ or limited crap.
Vampires should have been a midrange deck, not the dumb aggro. I expected the red deck to be ***** like always, but I expected that to be Dragons, not Vampires.
That's it, you are going to have 3 or 4 1/1 Vampires by turn 6 in EDH, when you summon Edgar Markov and attack. Maybe it also needed "Whenever Edgar Markov attacks of blocks..."
I want to know who the guy in the Curse cycle is. He is so screwed lmao He's basically me in the MTG multiverse - no matter where you go or what you do, you gonna get the worst
I declare that it is mandatory to wave your hand in front of your face and say "You can't see me" whenever you successfully resolve Teferi's Protection.
Oh wow! Edgar Markov is a pretty amazing commander for a casual vampire players. He seems exceptional for wide vampire armies, and theirs no need to cast him. He is a tad on the expensive side. Wish he was like or cheaper though. All in all, solid fellow. 10/10 would play! I am amazed no one is talking about him...
He is kinda dull, The abilities are nothing we haven't seen recently really.
I could only dream of a new, updated version of Baron Sengir!!! Oh man people would go nuts. Although I feel like he would have to be mono black so he couldn't be a general for this deck, just in the 99. But that's okay with me.
Actually, Sengir has mastered several kinds of Magic, not only Black Magic. Ravi, now Grandmother Sengir, was a Planeswalker who become mad/crazy and Sengir took advantage of it and learn many spells and secrets of Magic Power from her... And Ravi was mostly a Green Magic wielder...
He also learnt from Ihsan, whom he turned into a Shade to control him...
So, since he was used to Black, Red and Blue Magic in the beginning; he could easily use all color of Magic, such as Nicol Bolas; since Sengir is the OLDEST Vampire in Magic (Created by a Ritual, read "A Song of Plague Rats") as Edgar and Sorin Markov were...
So, I would expect him to be a Black Creature with Activated abilities that require all colors or hybrid Mana dor their activation: Black, White, Red, Green and Blue
Anyway, I want to listen to the Podcast about Vampires to complete this information
soley for the reason that giant strength is a permanent that will offer a constant +2 +2, where as brute strength only last til end of turn. granted you will have trample, which is worth it as well as the +3 +1, but I would personally rather have a longer lasting effect. simply a matter of personal taste.
If getting your creatures through to deal combat damage is a problem, a Rogue's Passage or two can fix that.
Rezzahan is right about this.
Since I first saw the Rogue's Passage in Return to Ravnica, I add 1x of that Land to EVERY one of my decks
I have none currently where I am Living, and it is not legal in Standard anymore, which is the format I play the most...
But, when Origins was around... I had WONDERFUL Times with it and my old friend Kalitas
About the removal, I was thinking about teaching the person who is going to pilot the deck about destroy effects, and trying to aim to cheap (not money expensive) cards; but "Pacifism" cards could also show the difference between destroying and doing something else to remove the Creature. Nice idea!
Yes, Lightning Bolt is better than Shock, that is sure; but I want it to keep the deck Standard legal, even if it is only to play with friends, because (As I said in the Spoiler in the first post) I do not want to overpower my colleague.
Why do you think Giant Strength is better than Brute Strength in this deck? Giant Strength is an Aura and Brute Strength is an Instant that provides Trample. May I ask you for the main reason, please? I would rather choose Goblin War Paint, Senseless Rage or Volcanic Strength over Giant Strength in a non-Devotion deck. Thank you (^_^)
Unfortunately, Amonkhet isn’t doing much of the buff game in red outside of Brute Strength, though Kaladesh does have Built to Smash and Aether Revolt’s Invigorated Rampage might be worth considering.
There are no proper replacements for Uncaged Fury, sadly. Onward//Victory comes close but can’t be used to save your creatures in combat.
I agree that Invigorated Rampage is the only card that could do something as a replacement for the Uncaged Fury/Sure Strike slot... But I needed that First/Double Strike for what I wanted. Kindled Fury/Precise Strike is not as good as I expected ( And also, why make two cards that do EXACTLY the same with different name and print one after the other,
and not doing something like Brute Strength (OGW)/Brute Strength (AKH) )
Well, I Hope that Ixalan brings me something useful for this slot...
As far as giving out haste, the best options in the new set are Cartouche of Zeal (which would allow you to play Trial of Zeal for reusable kill shenanigans) or Bloodlust Inciter, which is reusable but easy to kill (and isn’t an artificer).
I believe that the Cartouche of Zeal is the way to go after rotation. Thank you for the advise
I thought about those Creatures too, but I want this deck to focus on the Artificer theme, so I can take full advantage of the Inventor's Goggles. Anyway, those other Creatures are in my Mind for a White-Red Exert Deck I am thinking about...
Her support card doesn't shine either and, as you said, it is off theme and at 4CMC the ramp is not that relevant anymore. Maybe I could cut both for Immolating Glare. Even Ajani's Aid would be better, I guess. But I'll probably go for the removal spells.
I completely agree that Ajani's Aid is much better (and in theme with the deck) than Verdant Crescendo, definitely you whould swap them if you are going to remove Nissa.
You have many more White spells than Green spells, so you need more Plains than Forests
I have upgraded the Land count up to 24 because you have expensive spells and I always follow a rule for my Mana Base
I would choose Divine Verdict against Immolating Glare because it can kill blocking Creatures of your opponent too
I kept the card count up to 60 Cards, although I like to play 61... And I would have added another Plains, 25 Lands, due to the high number of spells with CMC of 5 and 6
I usually prefer Wayfarer's Bauble over Traveler's Amulet...
It fills the Graveyard, it adds to Delirium, but it ramps instead of only searching for the Basic Land you want
Since your Traverse the Ulvenwald already searches for a Land a places it into your Hand (Although we know it is better used with Delirium for a Creature tutor)
Just a different idea.
I like the idea of spicing the lands. Looming Spires is a nice idea, although I like Smoldering Spires more... But adding something like that can be very interesting.
Thanks.
Renegade Tactics is mostly a cheap cantrip to trigger prowess, I guess, so Crash Through could complement or replace it. If it is to stop a creature from blocing, well, Wrangle should be much better suited for this.
Renegade Tactics is both to stop a Creature from blocking while being a cantrip to try to find more Prowess triggers
I like it more than Crash Through in this deck, but Wrangle is definitely something I want to try...
I do not know if it will fit the deck, but it might go in a White-Red Ultra Aggro deck I am thinking about.
A couple Lightning Axes (a common in Time Spiral block) would give you the ability to deal with bigger creatures for cheap, and the discard can easily allow you to get rid of excess cards in your hand (like superflous lands) to enable Thresher Lizard.
I have a Lightning Axe I can use in this deck too... I will give it a try, although the idea is to use evasion to sneak between the big fatties to damage the opponent.
Rush of Adrenaline may be a good alternative or supplement for Brute Strength since being 1 mana cheaper should be quite important.
Definitely a card I want to try! I forgot about that cheap 1 Mana spell! Yes, Rush of Adrenaline might go in the spots of Sure Strike. I was thinking about +3 Power on the spells to use Prowess to get 5 Power Creatures, but 4 Power is strong too.
Tormenting Voice gives yo a way to "cycle" away a land to get anther spell, while being a spell to trigger prowess itself.
I did not think about card draw at all in this deck, but you have a point... When the late game arrives, although I try to win quick with this deck, I will need something to keep feeding the Prowess... I will have to try this one too... Do you think I have too many Magma Sprays?
Giving double strike and a small power boost via Uncaged Fury is also an option. If the opponent has no turn 2 blocker, that's already 6 damage on turn 3 with Nimble-Blade Khenra or Sanguinary Mage.
I was expecting using a turn 3 Brute Strength + Shock/Magma Spray a Creature of my opponent, to deal 7 Damage... But it could have a nice spot for the Pyre Hound once it has 2 or 3 Counters on it... Thanks!

Good day, everyone
How have you been?
I am having problems making this deck work
I do not feel completely omfortable with it and I need some advice...
I am a casual player... So I am not aiming to be completely strict.
There are some cards I have but I am not convinced to use...
Like Dovin Baan, which I find disgusting for EDH, although he can create an Emblem.
I could also add Elspeth Sun's Champion, Vraska the Unseen, Vivien Reid; but they either require other Creatures (To be created with other Emblems...
The goal of this deck is making several emblems to win the game, mostly by overwhelming amount of Zombie tokens, Kraken tokens or Octopus Tokens; making all of them indestructible with Elpeth if possible. I want to WIN with this deck, NOT making my opponents concede.
It is not only SuperFriends, but Emblems. I do not want a normal SuperFriend deck, but I want to Emblem.
Of course, the combo of both Tamiyo's Emblems is a beast, but getting there is very difficult.
Doubling Season allows us to instantly create some Emblems, so it is the MVP of the deck and I want to protect it.
Deepglow Skate is the second way to get twice as many counters.
Gilder Bairn is the third one but only one planeswalker at a Time, provided that he survives...
Pir, Imaginative Rascal + Oath of Teferi can grant you enough Loyalty counters once you activate the + Ability of a Planeswalker to get enough Loyalty Counters to Ultimate.
Rings of Brighthearth allows us to create twice as many relevant emblems (Token Generators, mostly, Liliana, the Last Hope, Kiora, the Crashing Wave, Kiora, Master of the Depths, Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants) or copying activated ability of Planar Bridge
Ajani Steadfast is mostly to protect your Planeswalkers against many Creatures.
Elspeth, Knight-Errant protects Doubling Season
Tamiyo, Field Researcher Draws cards and gives us Omniscience
Vraska, Golgari Queen provides a way to sacrifice Arena Rector and getting a Win Condition with her Emblem, provided we can get another emblem with Tokens.
Narset Transcendent provides a way to stop the spells that can kill the help to our planeswalkers.
Sorin, Solemn Visitor gives Lifelink to Tokens to get the Life back that, for sure, will have been lost at that Time. Also, his Emblem is good against small amount of Creatures. If it is copied, it can be very useful, even against Generals.
Jace, Unraveler of Secrets will provide additional protection against spells of the opponents, providing a soft lock. I do not want a hard lock...
Tezzeret, Artifice Master searches for other Planeswalkers, or Planeswalker Help with his Emblem.
Tezzeret the Seeker I usually use it to get a hand on Rings of Brighthearth to Emblem twice.
Tamiyo, the Moon Sage: With her Emblem, I can cast my sorceries and instants over and over. and if a Planeswalker is killed, I can play it again to get another Emblem.
Venser, the Sojourner allows to reset Planeswalkers or reset the Deepglow Skate.
Teferi, Hero of dominaria is mostly to be a threat. Its Emblem is not a Win Condition, it is a way to make your opponents Concede. I do not want that. I would use it to get rid of things that do not allow me to attack.
Vraska, Relic Seeker. She does not "Emblem" but allows me to kill one of my opponents... I still have doubts about her, though. I used to run her with Staff of Nin.
Teferi, Temporal Archmage allows me to activate Planeswalkers' abilities in my opponents' turn. I want this Emblem to + Loyalty counters.
Ajani Unyielding gives enough +1/+1 counters to the tokens and enough Loyalty Counters to the Planeswalkers to Ultimate
Ugin, the Spirit Dragon lets me put more Planeswalkers on the battlefield so I can ultimate more.
Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir cast in the last opponent's End Step allows me to safely cast Doubling Season and ultimate a Planeswalker straight away.

Can you help me to protect myself better or manage to get emblems faster?
Thank you very much and have a very nice day.
Definitely Lifelink because of the art, and to get back the Life you lost, to compensate if this is only a top deck draw after a boardwipe...
Why are they moving away from the "And you gain that much Life"?
Those cards were kinda good for 1 vs 1, but were powerful and interesting for multiplayer, so you would become the main target; so you needed to use them wisely...

That's it, you are going to have 3 or 4 1/1 Vampires by turn 6 in EDH, when you summon Edgar Markov and attack. Maybe it also needed "Whenever Edgar Markov attacks of blocks..."
I want to know too!
Hahaha.
I also looked twice at the Mana Cost to check if it would wor with the Isochron Scepter
I will deffinitely say it!
Best description of Edgar Markov ever!
I prefer the instant in this deck because it can lead to creature kill and surprise kill
Nice idea!
Thank you (^_^)
Kindled Fury/Precise Strike is not as good as I expected
( And also, why make two cards that do EXACTLY the same with different name and print one after the other,
and not doing something like Brute Strength (OGW)/Brute Strength (AKH) )
Well, I Hope that Ixalan brings me something useful for this slot...
I completely agree that Ajani's Aid is much better (and in theme with the deck) than Verdant Crescendo, definitely you whould swap them if you are going to remove Nissa.
The changes I would make to that deck would be:
3x Adorned Pouncer
2x Brimaz, King of Oreskos
1x Felidar Sovereign
4x Fleecemane Lion
2x Jazal Goldmane
3x Loam Lion
3x Prowling Serpopard
4x Regal Caracal
3x Savannah Lions
4x Pride Sovereign
1x Loxodon Warhammer
Enchantment (2)
1x Unflinching Courage
1x Ajani's Aid
Instant (3)
1x White Sun's Zenith
2x Divine Verdict
Planeswalker (1)
1x Ajani, Valiant Protector
Lands (24)
4x Canopy Vista
9x Plains
3x Forest
4x Fortified Village
4x Scattered Groves
You have many more White spells than Green spells, so you need more Plains than Forests
I have upgraded the Land count up to 24 because you have expensive spells and I always follow a rule for my Mana Base
I would choose Divine Verdict against Immolating Glare because it can kill blocking Creatures of your opponent too
I kept the card count up to 60 Cards, although I like to play 61... And I would have added another Plains, 25 Lands, due to the high number of spells with CMC of 5 and 6
You are welcome, my pleasure
It fills the Graveyard, it adds to Delirium, but it ramps instead of only searching for the Basic Land you want
Since your Traverse the Ulvenwald already searches for a Land a places it into your Hand (Although we know it is better used with Delirium for a Creature tutor)
Just a different idea.
Looming Spires is a nice idea, although I like Smoldering Spires more... But adding something like that can be very interesting.
Thanks.
I have a Lightning Axe I can use in this deck too... I will give it a try, although the idea is to use evasion to sneak between the big fatties to damage the opponent.
This card is really good, but I see it fit more in a deck (That I also want to build) with Thermo-Alchemist and Weaver of Lightning
I did not think about card draw at all in this deck, but you have a point... When the late game arrives, although I try to win quick with this deck, I will need something to keep feeding the Prowess... I will have to try this one too... Do you think I have too many Magma Sprays?
I was expecting using a turn 3 Brute Strength + Shock/Magma Spray a Creature of my opponent, to deal 7 Damage... But it could have a nice spot for the Pyre Hound once it has 2 or 3 Counters on it... Thanks!
