Just think, in a moderately distant (but not too distant) future, you will meet your timeshifted self and she will have protection from meds. I am coming closer and closer to this point myself, and...
... realize that I make far too many Magic references...
You'd have to rise through the ranks to become a high mage, first. Then you can be whatever the hell you want to be.
Have you seen how often I disappear and reappear? There're probably entire civilizations that have arisen and fallen between some of my posts!
Yeah, I'll just find some inventive new way to harass you...
Not in a game-store, but same here. Usually two (Wednesday and Friday), and sometimes Thursdays or whenever else more than three of us get that hair up our collective asses.
Phelddagrif and Bladewing the Risen. Sometimes the blue Braids, if I'm particularly bored of the others (Phelddagrif doesn't get all that boring a lot...).
He disappears and reappears as frequently as I do. Don't worry about it too much... he always seems to get back when he is needed...
What's your problem this week? You'll be back before the next lunar cycle ends.
I would think Diamond Valley would be worthwhile, too. Just run a Tomb of Yawgmoth (you wouldn't even have to worry about the legend-rule since apparently no one down there plays Urborg, somehow... as much as [Black-Player Number One] should).
Not if I tempt you with free things from my Hunted guys.
I generally like Ingot in all the decks I run. Even if someone is ballsy enough to destroy all lands (as obviously artifacts get swept with even Vengeance), it doesn't go anywhere and continues giving you mana. And in non-green, artifact-ramp is about the only kind of ramp (barring stupid-mana producing things).
I'm not sure how Tower of the Magistrate would work out, but I'm curious about it now, if you try it out.
Petrified Field and Crucible can both be included, and then you can run things like Intuition.
I like the idea of Deserted Temple in all decks. But you are starting to run into a whole lot of colourless mana.
That is interesting, because historically the Izzet was once centralized in the Upper Midwest in the US. Apparently now the month of July is our rallying-point?
Since it's inevitably going to be posted here one way or another, I'll just straight out say that my birthday is ten days prior. I'm precisely ten days older than you. ...and without a colon. Good times.
The douchiest of waffles for everyone who knows me (it seems like we've got quite a few new guys... :uhh:).
No, I'm sure he means kpaca's post was being reported. And for the record, I agree with Rocker that there was nothing really wrong with it, even if I disagree with Joboman's post, for pretty much the same reasons AI posted. And maybe I'll add that if nothing else, Jhoira has access to two colours of magic (with much more experience with both), so she beats out Liliana easy.
Oh, and I've been here since my last post. Just more lurking than posting. Not sure why. Have a cookie.
If I get suspended again (or even banned) for discussing such topics, I'll be particularly disgusted with the powers-that-be here. I can't say that I'm all that fond of them for the banner-thing, either, but I didn't get suspended for that. I got suspended for refusing to do as I was told.
I'm not a member of the Church of Satan, and don't really care whether or not you are or would be. I was just making a casual observation that your satanic wording "tickled my fancy". Though looking back, I do see how it could've been construed differently.
Ooh, you too?
Yeah, for some reason people don't like to discuss such things, which makes it difficult for me to discuss philosophy, given that it so easily ties into religious beliefs.
...which reminds me... welcome all new guys, have some cookies:
Because WotC hates me. I've known this for years.
First, not to start a religious conversation or offend anyone who might read this, but those first few words you chose to open that paragraph are pretty satanic of you. I couldn't help but smile as I began reading that "death seems horribly boring"... but nevermind that... back to the important bit...
You say taking one's own life is harmful (and disrespectful) of those you might know and/or love. I agree, if given the case of what I would call "emo kids", as in, those people who would end their life out of depression (which is what is generally inferred upon the subject of "suicide"). I see that as quitting because things are difficult, and I have never been a fan of quitters (ask Clem or Psi, they'll tell you ^_^;). However, going back to that satanic mindset (because afterall, it's what I know best :V), what if life ceases to be be... what was your word for it... "awesome"? What if life is no longer what Anton LaVey called the "Great Indulgence"? Such as, but not limited to, remaining living in a vegetative state. In my opinion, at the very least, that reduces life to less than what death (the "Great Abstinence") would entail, and for me at least, it would be torturous. It was, in fact, after I had my colon removed... but I was assured to get better, that I would return to that "Great Indulgence" that I so loved to... well, indulge. What if you wouldn't, couldn't return to "life as usual", and were "forever" (rather, for as long as they can keep your system functioning) doomed to a fate worse than death? Would suicide still be that "mortal sin", that horrible disrespect to your loved ones? If it was, what would you think of said loved ones? Wouldn't keeping you "alive" when you're as good as dead be greedy and disrespectful to you?
...Needless to say, I spend a lot of my time pondering otherwise-morbid subjects (and have much more to say, if anyone is, for whatever reason, interested).
The not-so-sunny side of immortatility is something else I've thought to death (:rollout:). Fortunately, my lifestyle isn't particularly conducive of an incredibly long life... I beat my body to hell and blatantly disregard my health (at least until I'm in a state of recovery ).
Edit: Sarnathed by jobo...
First, are you particularly interested in discussing such philosophical topics regularly, or not? I am obsessive about having up-to-date information about all the various religions' views, and the only other Jews I have to communicate with aren't exactly very... Jew-ish.
But that mentality is quite similar to my own. But then, for that, I become curious (to the point of distracting me from the rest of the ☺☺☺☺ I was going to post here, apparently) why, then, Judaism disallows certain (non-Kosher) foods and indulgences?
Again, if presuming that all is well in life ("heaven"), ending it would be foolish and callous. But what if heaven becomes hell?
Of course, the concept of one person being here one moment, then not another is a bit unsettling, however you look at death. Dramatic changes in environment are often like that.
Edit: ☺☺☺☺, this post is laden with much more religion than I would've liked...
That's some sort of irony, as I am currently in the process of building a Phelddagrif EDH deck.
I do wish the Questing variation was legendary, as its art is so much less... terrible.
An inquiry, if you don't mind: What do the Izzet think of life and death? Is taking one's own life ever acceptable? Why or why not? Don't feel obligated to answer, I don't mean to offend anyone, but be aware that I will probably aim to extend the dialogue exhaustively if you do reply.
No problem, so long as we play the games well, we're still a top contender.
But speaking of "legal issues" here, I seem to be having a bit of a dispute with the modstaff as to my signature-banner. As opposed to posting the ongoing PM argument, I would merely ask what any of you think on the matter?
