You run too much white and blue mana source land. Change the hallowed fountain to fetchland/overgrown tomb. Run 6-8 fetchlands.
Don't run wild mongrels. Cabal therapy is suffice enough to get genesis in your graveyard because you can cabal yourself, saving you the trouble of casting it out.
Sudden death gets rid of wretch's ability. I recommend you putting it in place of the edicts. If your opponent is running 3-4 wretches in the deck, try not to rely on genesis too much. If you are very dependent on genesis, then you can run cranial extraction or extirpate to get rid of wretches entirely first.
Iceman and majority of gifted rocks player don't run ascetics. But I still run 2 in my deck so it depends on your style. I don't have much experience against ravager decks so I won't comment on that...
Cranial extraction is useful but pretty slow. Engineered plague is only useful against goblins in the current meta.
Take out a cranial extraction and an engineered plague and you'll have space for 2 smothers.:)
I'm not sure about the EoDS. I think it may be good to replace them with llanowar elves? Anyway, any help will be well appreciated.
I notice you have 4 dark confidants.
It is going to be quite painful if you fail to draw the one and only jitte to gain life.
Add some lifegain cards (perhaps some more jitte).
Consider adding sensei's divining top to reduce damage by manipulating your card drawn from the confidants.
Oh I see...
I'll take out my ascetics and replace them by baloths and hierarchs as suggested and see if it helps me a lot.
No offence but because my baloths and hierarchs never live to see the day (they die too fast) that's why I favoured the trolls.
My rock deck runs a cranial extraction main deck.
Anyone tried out the effects of using extirpate instead?
Can someone post the tips against TEPS and no-stick again?
I've lost track of that somewhere...
thanks in advance.
Just because it regenerates doesn't make Troll Ascetic a great choice. It's not a decent sized beater like Baloth or Hierarch. It also doesn't do much for the Boros matchup.
I would take out the Leylines. The card is outdated. It was fine when the format was ruled by Ichorid or Aggro Loam, but it isn't anymore.
No doubt its a less strong creature than baloth... but it shrugs off lots of target spells. I played against no-sticks lots of time and unless they have wrath or their combo out, they have a hard time getting rid of it. The deck has already 3 hierarchs and 1 baloth so I don't think life gain is an issue against boros deck anymore.
He's playing gifts, I don't see any harm in having a troll inside to be a gifts target. The idea of gifts (and living wish) is to have a wide selection of cards. That is what that makes this deck unique.
With regards to leyline... I would agree with you.
try finding space to put in troll ascetic.
this guy rocks in a rock deck.
It has good synergy with pernicious deed too.
Perhaps -1 gifts -1 deed +2 troll would be good.
Just my 2 cents worth...
Look under "deck construction" for list of banned cards.
Primeval Titan is one of them.
StP/PtE for some removal.
A few oblivion rings for artifact/enchantment/planeswalker removal?
I am designing a similar one too.
brittle effigy
sol ring
elixir of immoratality
voltaic key
aether spellbomb
chalice of the void
mana vault
tormod's crypt
I'll check back often.
Good luck on this deck!
