I like Steelshaper's Gift as well. Great artwork, the name fits the card's ability, and it brings to mind a blacksmith creating a special weapon or armor for an adventurer. It's like getting an awesome magic item in D&D.
that wouldnt work cause Retriever would send it to hand and you still would need to wait 3 time counters to cast it again. So you HAVE to have the Salvaging Station. It's not impossible to get the combo, I'd suggest using urzatron or KCI with the artifact lands. One easier is Bringer of the White Dawn...but that's only once per turn unless you have more than one out, but in any case, you should be recurring Mindslaver.
My bad, I meant Salvaging Station for returning the lotus bloom. The Myr Retriever are saced to the Arcbound Ravager or the Carrion Feeder getting back the other retriever, untapping the salvaging station, sac the lotus bloom, get it back...rinse, repeat...infinite mana and infinite counters on your creature. This costs either 11 or 12 total to get started verses the 14-15 with Summoning Station and is a bit easier to get off since you only need the to get the first retriever in the graveyard sometime before you pull this combo off.
These price increases aren't that bad. If $.30 a pack is going to break you then you probably can't really afford to be playing magic in the first place, at least not buying new cards.
Anyway, I'm just wondering how much distributors will be going up now. If Wizards is raising their prices then distributors will probably tack on some extra as well. That's where you'll really see a difference in the price. $3.99 is just a suggested price. They can be found for more or less than that price. How much the distributor goes up will determine how much your local shop goes up, most likely.
If you can get both Salvaging station and Summoning Station and any way to sacrifice a creature into play, you have "infinite" mana. Do with it what you will, but be creative and not just Ghitu Fire FTW, please.
Greetings from Louisiana. I'm Angela though I go by Davryanna throughout the net. (I came up with the name many moons ago in high school as the main character in the book I may one day finish.) I've been playing off and on since Alpha, mostly casual although I do play in the local tournament almost every month. I'm the webmaster for Clint's Comics Online, our local comic book, MTG, and RPG shop where we have local tournaments. When I'm not working I'm usually playing Magic or D&D or teaching my 6 yr old to play (both). At any rate, I've babbled on long enough, it's nice to meet you all.

This is a rather expensive combo. It can be done cheaper with Summoning Station, 2 Myr Retriever and Arcbound Ravager or Carrion Feeder.
