This is a Standard build. Let's worry more about Standard concerns.

Even then, I did say it was hugely risky, but played right, it could probably still be safe.

I could see one or two main deck in place of the vigilance splicer. It can always be sided out, and have extra in the board to bring in against Cawblade.

Don't run him out against decks with black if you have a bunch of golems already in play. Easy.
Percursor is an awesome card to have after the DoJ you just mentioned Tongue

He would be a pretty good sideboard card for a deck like this. Can side him in when you're not too worried about spot removal. Caw Blade for instance.

Hm. Is Precursor Golem a reasonable fit for its buttloads of power, or bad because it's too risky? Just wondering since I didn't see one and thought this a little odd.

I thought that at first as well, but it would be way too risky. It turns Doom Blade into a one sided DoJ.

Why does no one here use Conversion Chamber anyway?

    Conversion Chamber 3
    Artifact
,T: Exile target artifact card from a graveyard. Put a charge counter on Conversion Chamber.
,T, remove a charge counter from Conversion Chamber: Put a 3/3 colorless Golem artifact creature token onto the battlefield.

Might be a sideboard card here, but it requires artifacts in opponents GY to be at all useful.

Stinger is better because, in general, black has so much more support for infect.

I can personally guarantee there will be no such thing as "surgical extraction meta", but you'll probably say that's BS, so I'm just gonna leave my suggestions on the above posts and leave.

But trust me, trample is worse on a 3/3 creature than +1/+1. Flying is also much better than trample, and it's an ability you want to give your golems right before they attack, so you don't need to find as many as the +1/+1 dudes, for instance. They're not equal.

This. You do not at all have to account for the Extraction. It is going to mostly be a sideboard card, and even if it isn't, they are going to side it out against your deck anyway, even if you are funning 4 ofs. If a deck is running extractions, they are worried about Jace, Valakut, Stoneforger, or birds. They don't care about your splicers.

There's really no reason for the green in the deck. The green splicers aren't great. Giving trample isn't so great with 3/3 creatures, especially if they fly anyway. Once your cutting that, there's not a real good reason for the regeneration one.

Vigilance isn't bad, but also isn't great. Also, the vigilance splicer is slightly over curve, five mana for 4 power.

Master slicer is great in multiples, so its exactly what you want 4 of. First strike is always good, and you will almost always want it, so running 4 there is also good. Same with flying.

That would give you 12 splicers, with the possibility of the vigilance splicer as well as a 1 or 2 of.

Cutting green also lets you up the main deck counter count, and other more controlling cards.

I'll go ahead and beat everyone to it: Please let it be a real Shandalar sequel!

So I guess next Friday we'll start hearing news come out of PAX about what these are, but the Wizards might officially announce the PC game a little earlier, just so people will really know what to expect.

Shandalar sequel would be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Do people understand the concept of broken anymore? The word gets thrown around so much it has completely lost its meaning. Look at the dictionary definition even and you can see that in both actual definition and Magic definition Baneslayer is not broken.

A card is broken if it singly can cause you to lose the game fast (read no more than 2 turns). Cards that are truly broken:

    Academy
    Jar
    Skullclamp

These kind of cards are dangerous and have little to no way to remove them when you need to.

    Even by book definition.

not functioning properly; out of working order
    (dictionary.com)

The card functions exactly as it was intended by Wizards. Academy, Jar, and clamp are cards that did not at all function how they were intended by Wizards.

Is Baneslayer powerful? Umm... yes. Is she broken? Absolutely not.

Why are we thinking the new duals will have a draw back? Wouldn't it make more sense if they had an ability of some sort. If they have a draw back they would be strictly worse than the tri-lands.

Exploration is hugely overpowered... in a god draw. But even then, as of now it doesn't fit in any archtypes in any format where it isn't already legal. Elves in extended would much rather run... well, Elves, to draw cards off of GoN.

Even in a vacuum, Exploration eventually runs out of steam. You keep playing lands to speed up, and eventually you run out of cards in hand and your playing off the top of the deck.

They have to cost three. These are not meant to be good ramping effects. They are meant to be mediocre ramp effects, and mediocre CIPT arifacts on 1st turn. Making them cost 2, or removing the CIPT on turn one would move the rarity up to uncommon or rare repectivly due to a power level increase. They were not trying to make a powerful card. They were trying to make a card that is useful and has utiilty at common. They will do their job well in my opinion. Decent color fixers, mediocre ramp.

Edit: I could see them coming into play untapped without using the alternative cost. Wouldn't seem to increase power level too much as it will only net you one mana for that turn, and by turn 3 you've probably played one mana cards already out of your hand.

When does the next extended rotation occur? Isn't it with the release of Shards or am I wrong about that. If that is the case extended will be seeing a major change which none of us have tested for yet, and this may be a preemptive banning because Top and Counterbalance are too powerful in the new environment.

Why not just run terror instead of Shriekmaw. With Doran out he is only a 2/2 and you can't search him with anything in the deck, and I can't really see the point of wasting 5 mana for a 3/2 creature.

That I would disagree with. You can still use it as a sorcery terror, so while slightly worse, it can still serve the same purpose early. Late, even a 2/2 unblockable is pretty good. One that kills an opposing creature when it comes into play is even better. And you can't search up Terror either.

I'm really disappointed by WotC' choices. I hoped a Legacy PT or PTQ season for 2007...what a shame, they make 2HG PT/PTQ...
I don't understand why Wizards don't make legacy PT. PTQ may cause problems due tu budjet, but for PT this argument is falling down.
By this way, legacy will stall one more year. Without PT, pros are not interested, and with that, deckbuilding and new ideas are very very rare. (legacy don't have any Menendian's-like genius deckbuilder)

And stop to limited PTQ, a bit of limited is good, but "unlimited" limited is just nearly ugly.

The problem with even a Legacy PT is that you still have to qualify for it. So some that qualify would have to go out and spend an additional large amounts of money to be able to compete at the actual PT, which would create a large degree of difference between the top and bottom players at that PT. Might be fun for those at the top, horrible for those at the bottom.
