These are the masterpieces for this set? That's cool and all, I just wish the card names were legible.
Like, that's all I ask is that the mechanically relevant parts of a card be easily identifiable.
I'm curious what these look like in other languages.
All that said, I don't ever intend to use any of these "fancy" versions anyway, so it really doesn't matter to me, except when I'm trying to figure out what my opponent is casting.
If the set sold for regular MSRP of $4 a booster pack, I'd be interested. The packs cost too much. As many good reprints as there may be in the set. If wizards had simply reprinted all of these cards in small amounts in standard sets then there wouldn't be a modern masters. Then no one would find $10 booster packs interesting. Have fun buying the $10 booster packs.
I'll probably buy a few singles and benefit from other people wasting their money. Specifically blood moon. If blood moon falls to $5 each I'll pick some up.
People that feel $5 for a Blood Moon is reasonable should probably refrain from pricing comments in general.
Personally, given the cost of playing digital card games, I'm of the opinion that Magic is incredibly unreasonably priced.
You'd be wrong. The prices are set by how much people are willing to pay. That is by definition reasonable. You just disagree with what a majority of people seem think about the prices. If anything, that's more unreasonable.
I sort of have to agree with Melkor. I think that flashy, new art possibly related to Amohket and/or being mythic could have made the card a lot easier to swallow.
I am digging the new compulsive research art, but why uncommon?
Compulsive is insanely good in Limited. It's uncommon so it doesn't show up as often.
If Cruel was mythic than people would have *****ed about a mythic slot being taken up by Cruel. They wanted it in the set. At least at rare people can occasionally try to make it work in Limited, even if it is incredibly hard.
You think Cruel should be Mythic for limited purposes, or am I misunderstanding?
Yes, the casting cost would make it the embodiment of 'mythic for limited'. You will never cast it in draft, if someone does I will buy one and eat it. And in constructed if feels mythical if you cast it. I don't feel that it should have been reprinted at all, there was no demand and it's not a draft card, but if it had to be in the set it should have been mythic 100%
I think you have misunderstanding for why they put certain cards at Mythic for limited purposes. It's not because it "feels mythic" to cast it in limited, it's to limit how often it shows up in limited. Cruel is so unlikely to be cast in limited, even in a 3 color format, that it doesn't matter if it shows up relatively frequently.
All these great reprints makes me think this might be the last Masters set.
This was exactly my thought as well.
Count me in as well.
Why? Someone explain this logic to me. So far all I've seen are people make this statement with no logic or evidence to substantiate it.
How do you think wizards is going to keep in print the extreme volume of unique cards in modern right now? The format reached its critical turning point just before return to ravnica and even commander is hard to fully support due to the legality of legacy cards.
Modern is also filled with a lot of stuff the designers today dislike and pros have been complaining about for years.
The only people who like modern are non-pro players who were around for a while and own the card pool to play the format. Online things are a little better, but still.
So basically, because of one limited print run set, every Modern player will be able to get every play set they want, and therefore they won't purchase future Masters sets?
But why? The card isn't played much in competitive magic as it is.
It's a $40 one-of in Abzan decks and casual Angel Tribal.
It's barely played any more in any Abzan decks (main or sideboard). I can't recall seeing many lists with it. If it is, I sure wish you would point me to the list.
It's a great sideboard card that is $40. Just because it doesn't fit the current meta, doesn't mean the meta won't shift and it will be a staple sideboard card again in 6 months. This is exactly what they should be reprinting. 1-of sideboard cards have no reason to be $40.
I like it, a bit expensive. I'll have to try it in my super friends deck. It seems pretty good with Venser, the Sojourner, too bad I'm Sultai.
If only they were going to print a card that would allow you to add White to your Sultai Superfriends deck. It would be even better if it played well with Superfriends. Oh well.
There are masterpieces for every set.

Is that a real question?

I don't buy it.

Returning from the Graveyard.

Oh my god. If they put Coalition Relic in this I'll be broke. You ruined my high.
