Also, if you're just getting into the story (and please forgive me if you're not), I wouldn't recommend reading them in chronological order. There are parts that will have more meaning if you read them "out of order."
Actually, Kamigawa does fit into the story (although in a kind weird way).

The Gathering Dark
The Eternal Ice
The Shattered Alliance

Heretic: Betrayers of Kamigawa
Guardian: Saviors of Kamigawa ***
Assassin's Blade

Dissension *****
* Actually, planeswalker starts immediately after The Brother's War, but it continues until after The Shattered Alliance is over. I always place it here, as most of the text takes place after SA.
** These books are a little tricky, but I think they come during Dominaria's Flood Ages. The back of the Hazezon novel mentions the story taking part during a time where the world is separated from the rest of the cosmos by an ancient war. This, plus the mention of the end of the Ice Age at the beginning of Johan, means I usually put it here.
*** I'm not going to spoil it for you, but at the end of the book the hero has an encounter with a land that mentions a minor character that was also mentioned in another book as having died around 400 years before that book's events occur. Really don't want to spoil it for you unless you've read the books I'm talking about, in which case you either know what I'm talking about or are becoming extremely annoyed at my rather vague run-on sentences.
**** These books are recorded as taking place at around the same point in time, certainly within a few months.
***** As you've already mentioned, these books don't fit anywhere into the timeline just yet.
Scott, I have a quick question. I finally went back and reread the Legends II Cycle. At a couple of points in Emperor's Fist and even more in Champion's Trial, Bolas and Overdark mention that the reason Bolas doesn't just nuke Sekana, pave the area, build a theme park, and call it a day is because that particular area is incredibly important. Is this a hint for some larger part that Madara will have in Dominaria's future? I realize that Bolas might just mean that it's a strategic naval base, but I think he'd be more than happy to sacrifice Sekana to stop Umezawa for good. Was this an abandoned plot point or am I way off base here?

$9.21 after tax. Not terrible.
