Let's say the'd make up a format, Legacy unreserved. Same banlist but no cards on the reserve list allowed. How would that affect attendance?
That format is called Modern. It's a primary reason the format was created. Taking away dual lands alone kills a lot of the point and interest of Legacy.
I predict the next few years will be:
1) Stop supporting Legacy.
2) Continue buying Legacy staples at cheap buy prices. In fact, maybe some people will consider selling now.
3) Start supporting Legacy again.
4) Sell you back your cards at inflated prices.
5) lol?
This is exactly what first came to my mind. It has been stated that the tournament attendance is not the issue it's that the dealers are not making any money, or at least not enough money, during these events.
So with this idea in mind, as Eternal formats will not ever die I hope, when is going to be the time to buy your staples and duals?
Very good card choice. VERY poor art choice. I really wish they would stop changing the art on Invitational cards. Either keep the original art or at the very least just keep the guys face in the art. It is so disrespectful to the creator. I'm certainly glad I own the original art versions already. I guess the silver lining is I won't expect this inferior version to hurt the value of my foil version much at all.
I actually dislike the original art on almost all invitation card except Dark Confidant.
New art is never a bad choice. People who like new art can go for new art. Otherwise, they can always buy the old one. More option is better for everyone.
That said, I don;t like this art.
I don't mind them changing the art. I like to upgrade old spells from time to time when the new stuff strikes my fancy. My biggest point is that if WotC is going to change the art all they have to do is keep the Invitational winners face on it. Don't make it some random mage or whatever. Tiago Chan is the Snapcaster Mage. Dark Confidant is called Bob for a reason. Just don't disrespect that is all that I am saying.

These are great. They will make sitting on boxes of this expansion very worthwhile. So everyone is talking about the odds and I feel like the numbers are way off. Correct me if I am wrong, but cards are printed in the following manner. Rares are printed twice on the sheet to once for every Mythic rare. So in my experience I either get 2 foil rares or 1 foil mythic and sometimes a rare per box. So that would mean foil mythics show up at an average frequency of 3 per case. These will be equal to a foil mythic in rarity, but show up slightly more as there are more of them compared to the set mythics. So we could expect 2 of these and 1 regular set mythic per case. Though I also wonder if they will just juice the packs slightly as that would make the regular set mythic foils also be very scarce and valuable.
I deeply wish they would stop putting other faces on invitational cards. Change the art, it's fine. Just keep it the same person! It's so insulting to them and I am glad that Jon and Bob, not Chris or Jens to my knowledge, have spoken out about it. WotC should really stop doing this several cards ago!
Tournament packs were so awesome. These are not worth purchasing at any level of skill or at any price above the value of the boosters inside. I was really excited when I heard about this product and when I bought a pair of them to try out I was savagely disappointed.
Sealed sucks, DFC's suck, and Innistrad sucks (Sure Tiago is awesome). Draft is awesome and so is next fall. I hope they have picked a better genre for next year. Until then I'm staying with eternal formats and Modern Warfare.
The idea was cool when I thought the 20 card decks were all spells. As is I bought 2 and got the exact same pack both times as far as the semi random cards go. 4 Commons 1 Uncommon and 5 Lands for each of 2 colors plus a pack was just not really worth it if you ask me.
I hope they try this again and I hope they do a better job next time. I'd like to see closer to 20 spells so that the player has more choices. More than 1 Uncommon would be nice.
Same art, new frame.... Boring!!! They need to put alternate art on all judge, if not all in general, promos. Cool card, but could have been way better.
I liked Cloudcrown Oak a lot. It also seems to fit better into greens creatures are bigger idea. Giant Growth is good at what it does though I can see it being changed as well into one of a host of pump spells they've made or could design. I'd prefer to see the spider replaced personally.
Based on the description given to Rey-Goor I speculate the lands will be in the same style as River of Tears in future sight. I always love me some enemy duals!

Keranos, God of Storms
