Any creature other than the Prankster dying (i.e. going to the graveyard from the battlefield), no matter who controlled that creature, will trigger the Prankster's ability. If multiple creatures die at the same time, the Prankster will trigger that many times, and then you resolve each of those triggers separately. It will even trigger if the Prankster dies at the same time as other creatures, either in combat or because of something like Wrath of God: such abilities trigger based on their existence right before the event that triggered them, and the Prankster can deal damage even if it's not on the battlefield anymore at the time the ability resolves.

Unfortunately no. You cast Treason of Isengard as Press the Enemy is resolving, and spells remain on the stack while resolving and only go to the graveyard as the last part of the resolution process, so Press the Enemy is not a legal target.

Yes, you can do that. The flashback ability from Lier is what allows you to initiate the casting process of the instant or sorcery card in the graveyard, and then the casualty ability allows you to pay its additional cost by sacrificing Lier. Nothing within this process makes this illegal even if Lier dies. You'll get a copy of the flashbacked spell.

ok, so the new printing say exile while the old one still read to remove it from game.

even if she can't, what's the ruling? if another card state to remove it from the game can they still bring it back?
The terminology "remove from the game" simply doesn't exist anymore in the rules and was entirely replaced by exile circa 2009. It was mostly a terminology change, the exile zone used to be the "removed from game zone" and it functionned pretty much the same way the exile zone does, in that things could easily return from it (so one could say it wasn't the best name for it), see the printed text of Flicker for an example.

Because you're doing things in this exact way, you keep the tokens permanently. You removed the trigger from the stack, and "the beginning of the next end step" is a moment that happens only once for that instance of the encore ability. The delayed sacrifice trigger will not trigger again for those tokens.

  • posted a message on Shard of the Void Dragon board damage question
The damage to creatures is all dealt at the same time, and the ones having low enough toughness being destroyed by the damage also happens all at the same time as a stated-based action, right after Blasphemous Act is done resolving. The triggered ability that would put counters on Shard of the Void Dragon hasn't even had the time to go on the stack before it's destroyed and is already in the graveyard, so it won't be saved.

Multiple creatures of a given player that die at the same time can placed in any order in their graveyard, if the players think it could matter (e.g. Corpse Dance), but as far as timing is concerned, all the creatures die at the same time in such cases.

Yes, Rodolf dies. What would give him indestructible is a triggered ability that doesn't go on the stack, let alone resolve, before White Sun's Twilight is done resolving and has already destroyed him.

I know I started it myself, but we must refrain from discussing strategy in the Rulings forum, so let's stop suggesting cards. OP can continue the discussion elsewhere, so I'm locking this. Lock -MadMage

So when the Transformers are in their Legendary Artifact-Vehicle modes they are considered creatures during my turn and therefore can attack.

So if they dont have to be crewed to attack, why cant they block? There's not even a CREW:x to block soooo what gives? Are they basically useless on the field in vehicle mode when its NOT your turn?

I'm new to the game and seeing the Transformers cards sucked me in but I may be right out again if they are incapable of even blocking half the time they're on the board. Converting them is very challenging...
    E.g. Ratchet, Rescue Racer
I'm afraid that's how they're designed, sorry. When on their back face (the vehicle side), the transformers are not creatures if it's not your turn, so they can't block without outside help. I wouldn't say they're useless since their abilites still apply, and not being a creature has its advantages (they won't die to Wrath of God and the like), but that's getting into strategy, so I'll leave it there.

    Quote from FetalTadpole »
Being able to cast a spell as though it had flash does not give the card flash any more than a creature being able to block as though it has flying gives it flying. That's logic. Sorry you disagree.
I agree with you, but the parralel doesn't appear perfect for clearing the confusion here, as it stems from the fact that Errant and Giada is specifically a cast permission, which to the eye may fit with the cast permission of cards like Leyline of Anticipation, helped by the fact that the rules do not define "as though it has flash" too well. Adding other responses of this type to the thread won't help.

Alright, great! And just to clarify, can I also choose a target planeswalker/player, or does that only apply to non-Dragon creatures?
You can target a planeswalker or player, yes.

I'm not sure that thread is conclusive either. If E&G said "you can play cards" it might be different, but both static effects say "you may cast spells".

As they point out in the thread linked in the previous reply, "as though it has flash" is not clearly defined in the rules as being about timing. Therefore logic should apply.
I understand your point of view; you're free to argue as Horseshoe_Hermit did in that thread, and as I told them there, I'd like the rules to be clearer on this. It may be worth it to bring it up to the rules manager.

Yes, it needs to be on the battlefield. When text refers to a permanent type (such as 'creature', 'artifact', 'planeswalker', etc.) without adding the word "card" or "spell" immediately after, it means a permanent of that type on the battlefield. So commanders don't have abilities granted by backgrounds unless they're on the field.

No, you can't cast the card from the top of your library in this case. The standing ruling is that Errant and Giada only work with cards that have the actual keyword abilities Flying or Flash, and Leyline doesn't actually grant the Flash keyword ability. See this other recent thread.

I had doubts that such a cheap card could counter such spells, and secondly, I wasn't sure if the word "creature" in the card description would have any significance Smile
A creature spell is a card with the type 'creature' that's currently a spell on the stack. All spells that aren't creatures, such as an instant like Beast Within or a sorcery like Wrath of God, are legal targets for Negate. Even planeswalker spells, even though they also represent a living being, are not creature spells and can be countered by Negate.
