if you have 3 other cards in your grave, the 4 lands will hit and give your guy threshold before the damage is put on the stack.
I don't know about the Shaman... More like a SB card I think. I'd run four farseek and 2 into the north, as farseek gets everything you want, and gets the dual lands (and then up their count). Otherwise you might want to consider things that interact better with snow perms.
You are pretty hosed though by permission decks (from this first look over) and crypt though... is ground seal being reprinted? I'd consider loaming shaman (sb)... yes its counter intuative...but it allows you to selectively reload, and its a good body.
Alex:
Hatching Plans and Research would work well together... but what do you sac otherwise? Mucho land again is required, to set up either pride trickery, or an untouchable reaver (provided they don't have that -4/-4 card)
Kevin: I XX<3LOVE<3XX Telling Time. The problem with it is, counsel actually nets you a card, where telling time replaces itself (1/2 the job) and then filters your next draw.
Cards I would like to add to the deck:
Telling Time
Overrule
Disenchant (sb card, thanks to TS)
Though if the TS rumour is accurate... Shadowmage infiltrator will be back, and that tells me to play GBU control with putrefy etc
Anyways... WUt is a proposed deck for the front of the thread.
Thoughts? Blue draw is debatable... i don't know why i keep going back to council... but it always seems to be a good fit. They need a good instant drawer besides research (which rocks if you play perms)
Wont use sunscour... think its a crappy card. The "free" aspect blows, and 4 wraths generally keep the board clear enough for my pickoff stuff.
Blaze AND Demonfire does seem a little redundant. I went with both to help get around Jester's Scepter to be honest, and the hellbent on the demonfire is a good way to make an unavoidable gg. The land base is really sketchy right now. You want to get to WW buy turn 4 for the wrath in case you didn't get any mana leaks, if you don't wrath by turn 6, ur pretty much dead. Council isn't the optimal draw, ur right. There is Compulsive Research, but in testing I've had to discard 2 cards before and thats not acceptable. Particularly, I want to keep land I draw. I've toyed with Tidings, but its a bit slow. Was thinking of maybe using perilous research, and sacing scepters or lands (sacing land is about the same as discarding it).
It's not a great card, and is quite poor when put beside the Magus.
The ability is nice, but for legendary critter, with a 1/1 body and a poorly costed ability... well frankly they dropped the ball when it comes to respective power levels in the same set.
Its bodes well for a MWC (as said earlier) but its not a "strong" link in that imo, just an enabler.
I'm sorry but Mangara is a nearly completely inferior version of Magus of the Disk. It makes little sense to print both these cards in the same block, let alone set.
He is not splashable, and he only affects 1 perm.
The upswing... 1 turn sooner (but hey, GW can magus on 3 too), and can hit lands. I'll take the 2/4. This card is doomed to $2
Cards from that are definately States worthy:
Terramorphic Expanse (free colourless rampant growth? omgwtfbbq)
Dark Confidant
Lightning Serpent
The blue shadow????
Putrefy
Mortify
Blood Moon
(I'm sure there are many more)
also, is there a way to improve draws? I haven't played any serious 1.5, so i don't know here... but top would be remarkably good at making sure you didn't draw an elf on turn 3 - 5 vs piece of combo. Also, it would hlep keep cobmo pieces i nthe deck where they need to be.
and if gobbo is big i nthe format, might wanna consider making room for 4 engineered plagues and 4 chills.
As for states... I'm playing a lot of "blow the world" stuff. I tried playtesting a critter swarm rah!!! deck last night, and was crushed each time. I think I just can't play with creatures.

Ur deck is very scary though, I must say.
