So here is my Mono-White EDH deck designed to be a gentle giant. The field varies, but is mostly without blue and creature heavy, hence this build. Please let me know what you think!
So I started playing magic about a year ago when Alara was comin out and I bought a grixis deck. With the help of my spoiled ass friend, we made a cool little deck for casual playing. I thought it was good because I didn't know any better but there were way too many problems with it. It was recently deconstructed and I bought the green and black eventide precon. I like it, but I definately need a lot more cards. With that deck proving unsuccessful I bought a decks worth of singles for this blue green landfall deck that was just an enormous failure. And now I'm here... I just came up with this American colored combo deck which is nice but I want a well rounded deck that I can just play casually and enjoy without setting up combos or anything. Any suggestions for some themed deck that's well rounded and fun for casual? (preferrably no more than 2 colors) Have some sympathy; feeeel my pain
Well, I've been there. You basically have 2 choices for a deck if you don't wanna play combo, that would be Control or Aggro.
There are some really fun decks in both realms, and it depends on your play style. A lot of newer players (no offense intended, simply stating the facts) prefer Aggressive decks, with lots of creatures and such. Control decks typically play fewer creatures and are more difficult to play, but can be fun if you are more of a "Chess" type player. Personally, I love control because of that reason.
It all depends on who you play against as to what deck I would play. A fun deck might be R/ Aggro, It is the first deck I gave my cousin to play.
Tribal decks can be fun, as they are themed and rely on each other, but aren't really combo decks. See Zombies or Elves. Personally, I like Merfolk for a tribe.
One last hint i can give you is to order indivdual cards when you are new. A lot of players buy packs to build decks from, but I can tell you from experience that it is cheaper, faster, and more fun to order specific cards from a website or card shop to build a deck. That way, you've got better cards for a whole lot less money.
Let me know what you think. Gimme some direction, and I'll be happy to post some good deck ideas for you.
I'd Like to add Garruk Wildspeaker, but I don't have any. 4 could go in for Explore and I wouldn't be upset in the least.
I like the semi-turbo fog out of the board to help against the crazy fast decks out there, but it may not be necessary. Twincast is undervalued, IMHO, because you can effectively counter any spell trying to interfere with polymorph by recasting the morph.
What about Fog/Tanglesap for the creature race? Could really help...
I ran this deck for a while, but am now revisiting it with the printing of several Worldwake cards. I'm not sure yet, I like the consistency 2 colors provides, i think three may push it since we want to go off early.
The Red version is nice, but Green seems to be a solid stall tactic, but with little in the way of alternate win-con that Goblin Assault Provides.
Has anyone actually used this deck in an FNM setting and posted results? I see much speculation, but wondered what results we have post worldwake.
So, I'm thinking about building a Pauper deck. I've currently never gotten a MTGO account, but if i could play (and win) for $20-30 I would be totally down with that.
By nature I'm a blue/Black(or White) control player.
Is there a deck that would be in my price range that would do well?
I hear goblins is good. How much is the optimal decklist?
I'm looking at a good EDH list. I love U/W as a combination, and so thats what I'm sticking with for the mean time. Eventually, I would like to expand the deck to W/U/B but for now I can't really afford a crazy manabase to make a deck like that work.
Though Agustin has better effect on the gamestate, Sygg is quite powerful on a defensive front and has great evasion against many EDH decks out there.
I run a solid control deck that is quite good at not losing, and so i feel like either would be fine. Hanna, ship's Navigator would be good as well, but I'm not sure I would utlize the ability much.
Are there any netbooks with optical drives? Its really important I have a disk drive, and I don't want an exterior optical drive, because I need disks on the go.
I've not seen any...
I've also heard mixed reviews on the Atom...any second opinions?
You know, A surprising Win-Con for a deck like this could be Goblin Assault.
Slow, yes. And The goblins die to anything. But, they keep coming, its inexpensive, immune to all removal that doesn't hit enchantments (because you just keep making more) and deals 20 damage in 7 turns when left alone. Multiples are sick, and with burn, you might get that number down lower.

I'm down to choosing between Sygg, River Guide, and Grand Arbiter Agustin IV.
Though Agustin has better effect on the gamestate, Sygg is quite powerful on a defensive front and has great evasion against many EDH decks out there.

Your thoughts?
My vote is for
"Destroy two target creatures."
Means you must have two to target. Makes it slightly dangerous, because It cant always be cast.
See Hex.

Thanks so much for your help!
Correct.
If we are talking about a certain card, as in one specific card, you actually need to calculate the chances it will appear in the pack.
Otherwise, anyone playing 10th sealed would see 3-4 lightning bolt per pool. And thats not fun for anyone.

And don't forget Ancestral Vision.
