I cut one lighting bolt and made room for three Fatal Pushes. This worked out nicely even against Eldrazi. I would say that blood moon is unnecessary since I had it in my hand in both Eldrazi matches and did not need it. Chandra is amazing, two mana Raging Ravines and removal.
Cruel Ultimatum is fun to cast; the point of this deck is not maximum efficiency. The whole purpose of this thread is to play the card Cruel Ultimatum in modern, however no one here is going to say you must play it at all costs. If you look at The Grixis Delver or Grixis Control threads you'll see that you should be playing those decks if you wanted to play a Grixis deck that is good in the current meta.
What you should never do though is go into a thread and advocate for not playing the namesake card. Magic is a game my friend. You should still post here though as your deck is closer to ours than the others I mentioned. Don't doubt the power of Cruel Ultimatum though, resolving one is breathtaking.
Let's be honest, when I made top 8 at states or won my PPTQ; does anyone here think I was playing Cruel Control? The answer is no. Right now this deck is for fun, but I try to tune it to be as competitive as possible while still playing Cruel Ultimatum.
Bolas is coming back this month in Amonkhet so let's all get hyped!
I will likely pick some up, but I want to see the prices first. Your Fetch-Shock configuration is optimal, sometimes I find myself wanting a second copy of Watery Grave.
In my view as long as you have a solid manabase ( you do) you can play 1-2 Cruel Ultimatum and 30 other cards. The only questionable card in your main is Consume the Meek, but you are playing teachings so I can respect the choice.
We would absolutely play him. We likely cut down to one Ultimatum, and flex spots. Jace will lock the board then find whatever we need to finish the enemy.

@Dlanze look to pick up some tarns while they are still cheap and your deck will be perfect!

My point is that the deck is called CRUEL Control
I was on vacation so I've been absent from here.
