I agree with delver. Fetch, shock thoughtseize. Loot on 2 to look for your second land.

How would you board against Ponza? I brought in 2 wear/tear but what else is useful?

So I went 4-0-2 with mardu at a pptq in Birmingham, Alabama yesterday. I defeated the mirror, Jund, Jund and burn before losing in the quarterfinals to Ponza. I only dropped one game in the Swiss to my round 2 Jund opponent. Mardu had 3 decks In the top 8 I believe and with many of the 50 some odd people playing the deck. I played a pretty stock list with a basic plains in the deck and a goblin rabblemaster in the main. I struggled with whether to play 4 leylines in the side or surgicals. I went with 3 surgicals and 1 rakdos charm. The need only really came up in the mirror and I didn’t need them.

I think if you could level up at instant speed the assassin might be worth some consideration. Since it isn’t then I feel it’s to slow.

Against bogles, you need wear/tear, engineered explosives or ensnaring bridge. Blood moon can keep them from casting some of their enchantments later in the game. Definitely need an early wear/tear to take out leyline of sanctity. I usually side out bolts and brutalities. Fatal push, terminate and Dreadbore can at least kill dryad arbor or kor spiritdancer.

Against the bridgevine deck I’m not keeping a hand without a turn zero leyline or surgical extraction. Just asking to get ran over.

Yeah, searching up a reveler with Nahiri is pretty sweet. And then you get to return it to your hand and go again. Such a great feeling. I really like Nahiri and I wish I could fit one in my deck.

Blood Moon can also keep the burn player off of white mana so it’s still live. Some of the burn players at my LGS play Rest In Peace and Kor Firewalker In the sideboard so I will side in Engineered Explosives. My advice is to try and deal as little damage to yourself as you can and pick apart their hand and pick off the early creatures. Try to get full value out of your brutalities. I know that’s generic advice.

What match ups are you wanting LoS for? I’ve been thinking about testing Shadow of Doubt in the manamorphose spot. Double black hurts but stopping a Gifts Ungiven or Scapeshift would be nice. Or a fetch or expedition map.

Stalker is for decks with lots of removal. Decks like mardu, Jund and jeskai. I like stalker if you run rancor main deck. Makes it easier to close the game out. You would side out some number of pump spells.

Played in the SCG Atlanta Open main event. Finished 6-3. Lost to humans(game 1 five kitesail freebooters and I was still drawing to any pump spell to win), Jund and mono green tron. Tron on the play with turn three tron plus karn take out a mana source, turn 4 karn take out a mana source and turn 5 gigantic walking ballista. Overall infect felt good and was well represented.

I played a pretty standard list with one wild defiance main and had Geist of Saint Traft in the side. I didn’t play humans but I’m considering some number of gutshot I’m the side.

So I played in a 7 round tournament today with dual lands as prize support. I went 5-2. Lost round 1 to Grixis Blue Moon and round 7 to u/w gifts tron. I was 40 seconds late in round 7 and got a game loss. I won the first game and was 2 points shy before he unburial rites an elesh norn and locked me out.

Edit: so I defeated Temur midrange, b/g elves, Jund shadow, colorless eldrazi and Jund.

Gratz to Aaron! Does anyone know if he writes for a website cuz I’d definitely read a tournament report if he writes one.

Edit: Aaron said he sided in Geist against Jeskai. Would you side out Glistener elves?

I’ve been playing a golgari charm in my board for years now. Against bogles, I usually side out paths and bring in damnation, flaying tendrils and golgari charm. I usually want a hand with abrupt decay and maelstrom pulse or charm in it. That way we can take out a leyline of sanctity and then start to take over with Liliana.
