Also, I'm surprised that Niko turned out WU instead of UR. That planeswalker's Mothership article screamed UR to me, especially Niko's disregard for destiny and willingness to pilot their own path, regardless of what others think about it.
I'm pretty sure it was explicitely written somewhere on the PW mothership's article that they were Azorius.
I'm liking a lot of cards so far, and I also love love LOVE that it seems to confirm the general powerlevel decrease that started with ZNR is here for a while.
Is it me or Masked Vandal is secretly one of the best cards spoiled today? Damn. A Reclamation Sage for 1 less, that exiles instead of destroy, given you can exile a creature from your grave? And it's a changeling? I'll be playing this guy for sure.
Without looking at the rules I'd say since the "Foretelling cost" mentioned by the Mammoth is 2GG ("Cast it on a later turn for its foretell cost") the act of foretelling is probably casting the card that's already been exiled from hand. That would make Ranar pretty strong since you could T2 exile Mammoth, T4 cast Ragnar cast Mammoth.
If it doesn't end up being the case, then the wording is really confusing.
From a powerlevel perspective I suppose it's more likely Ranar would only reduce the 2 generic cost and spawn a Spirit.
Wait and see.
Obviously a great creature, that will maybe make the Angel variant of Lifegain Decks truly viable in Historic. No need anymore for the clunky 5 manas angels like Lyra to top the curve.
I'm acknowledging what some are saying and starting to think it could indeed be a wait and see for normal "Casual" commander. There are drawbacks to it... Still, we should keep a critical eye on it.
It will probably be softbanned by groups which already ban fast mana such as Sol Ring and Mana Crypt (e.g. the Mtggoldfish Commander Clash crew).
The card is nut crazy in cEDH but I don't care about the format.
The card is nut crazy in 1v1 or French Commander and there is no doubt it should get banned here.
Personnally I don't think it's an autoinclude in every deck either, that's not what makes the card dangerous.
The biggest risk is that it could push decks that actively want and can play this card into busted territories.
This is plain stupid. Here i was, warming up to the set, loving some of the new legends, the fact that everything seemed fair, and now they dump THIS ?
I don't find it even funny. I facepalmed as soon as I read the card. They can't help it ! They HAVE to print a broken card every set now, and at Mythic of course.
This is baaaaad on so many levels.
So people can be described as being "exquisite" now? Was this card designed by a vampire? Or are players supposed to stop thinking altogether about anything that doesn't affect gameplay? Because then WotC might wanna transition to creating a card game without flavor (and artwork for that matter), so they can cut costs in the creative department and thus maximize profit, right?
Eyeblight Cullers are nice, though.
'^^
It's funny that you mention flavor when flavor is exactly why "exquisite" is in the title of the card. It's a Lorwyn elf, they were perfection-obsessed pricks. The card name fits.
Exactly. Exquisite is one of their actual rank.
Eyeblight <<<<< Faultless < Immaculate < Exquisite < Perfect
That makes the "lore criticism" of @fan-of-"fanservice" really out of place. That's ranting for the sake of it now.
As if the "exquisite" term was an indicator of a "profit-driven" WotC
That's real good for historic. White sorely needed a cheap instant removal. Path is super strong while being very fair at the same time because of the free land given.
If enough good removal hits the format, I suppose in time the Winota suspension could be reevaluated.
It's a matter of personal taste of course, but I find the purple frame hideous. This might be one of the worst swamp I've ever seen. It's got a "wordart" feeling ^^'

They took a LOT OF TIME to update this page this time. I made sure to double check several times before allowing myself to be enthusiastic
I don't like that uncertainty at all during a spoiler season.
It's just a bummer for Path to Exile in particular. Really think the card would have been useful for the format.
What does the rarity of the card have to do with Arena's Historic format's metagame?
