Nissa Steward of Elements can be interesting in Simic colors as well. But for now I'll probably go with Meddling Mage + Geist, it seems quite safe Smile

I don't like it. Anything that costs more than 2cmc and doesn't have haste is not an option in my book ^^

Shoutout to Starfall who's making VERY consistent 5-0s on MTGO with the following list :

He is going VERY low to the ground. I would have been skeptical if the results weren't there, but here they are.
I also wouldn't have played Ramunap Ruins, but he's adamantly playing a playset each time so it must be useful.

I think I'm going to try it out next time Smile

A quick report of what happened last Wednesday : I ended up going 3-1 ! Pretty happy with the result, and the decks always make an impression on the opponent and curious onlookers Grin

    1/ Elves : lost 0-2
My Leylines were protecting me against Shaman of the Packs, but eventually the opponent always ended up with a very large board and tons of mana which allowed hip to pay very easily the Ghostly Prisons' tax and overrun with Ezuri once or twice at the same time. I think it is an awful matchup. Only Wrath of God could have gained me a bit of time, and even that's not super exciting. All their activated abilities were mana abilities, so Suppression Field didn't help. Post side they had Rec Sage and Fracturing Gusts to handle as well.
Nota Bene : add Rule of Law in the side to stand a chance next time.

    2/ Affinity : win 2-0
Suppression Field and Solemnity prevented a lot of shenanigans game 1 until I managed to establish the lock with Phyrexian Unlife. Game 2 Stony Silence did it's job.

    3/ Burn : win 2-0
There's no beating around the bush : I utterly rekted my opponent. He's on the play, but Turn 0 Leyline really hurt him. A Runed Halo on his Eidolon was pretty funny as well. Several Ghostly Prisons later, I fly over him easily for the win.
Game 2 I didn't have a Leyline right away, but I drew one later in the game. He drew 1 Revelry but he had to target it toward Greater Auramancy. I managed to cast a Nevermore naming Revelry and then Phyrexian Unlife won me enough time to establish the lock.

    4/ Affinity : win 2-1
The opponent had the nuts game 1. Game 2 I locked him out using Suppression Fields and Stony Silence. Game 3 I played a Porphyry Node on the draw and picked apart its board bit by bit, starting with Signal Pests, until the Node went to the yard. I didn't draw a Stony Silence this game and at one point he could have won if he'd drawn a Cranial Plating (he had plenty of mana to equip and attack), but he didn't. The matchup feels favored, even if this one was closer.

I heard there was an UW control lurking around but I'm glad I avoided it \o/
The deck is so fun, I love it. Next step : try the Idyllic Tutors, I'm convinced they will be great.

    Hey everyone !

I'm seriously considering builing the mono W version of this deck, as streamed by SaffronOlive three months ago :

It's budget enough, and I've found a good deal on a playset of Serra Ascendant that convinced me to give it a go Smile

I see that mono-coloured decks are not really favored in the most recent pages of this topic. Any reason why ?

The meta in my LGS is mostly composed of : Junds (a lot), Affinity, a few Humans, some Lanterns, some Goblins and Burn. A few UW or Jeskai control here and there but not too many. Do you think this deck can fare well against these opponents ? What's your experience against Jund, most importantly ?

Thanks for your help, and I hope my list is not too outdated ^^

    Artifact
T: Add C for each artifact you control named Powerstone Shard.

See, in the French traduction, it is said it only costs 1.
I was freaking out about this mini-solring until I saw the English version x)

The painful thing is they know how to make a good draft set, and a valuable set with staples, and still hit niche card spots, AND even appease EDH players with juicy reprints.

I can't wait for the next Conspiracy set <3

I'll buy a playset of Ports, Kobold tokens, some Filter lands, 3 to 4 Thalias, some Bridges if they go down enough, but apart from that it's not super exciting even from a Singles perspective.
I don't understand why it is so painful for them to reprint actual valuable cards that they never do more than 5 great reprints at a time.
I'm all for a feel-good draft set, but then it shouldn't cost $10 per pack. It's incompatible.

Allowing proxies is same as letting people use counterfeit cards, which wrecks the game as we know it regardless of the format. More reasonable solutions are to either borrow the missing cards, save money for them (no rotation makes deck building time irrelevant) or simply play something suiting your budget (deck or format). Also, this post of yours belongs in the "Complain about Legacy Prices & Availability Thread" thread. And you surely are not the first person to make such complain.

This format is not that desperate for fresh meat to become more accessible and challenging accessibility is not the only reason other formats are also being attended.

I could have written in yet another topic you don't read, but I thought it was relevant regarding the popularity of legacy.

Overall, I think my "problem" is that I feel any game, just like any sport, should be accessible to fresh meat. Otherwise, it risks being downright nepotic, or "pay to win". It shouldn't be a question of "that format has enough players already" or whatever.
Also, I'm not talking about counterfeiting, nor am I talking about hurting innocent puppies and kittens. I am not a "criminal", thank you.

Use of proxies 'may' have been one of the contributing factors to the decline of Vintage. Past research articles regarding the decline of Vintage shows that the use of proxies for all of the power 9 and other staples resulted in an incentive system whereby vintage tournament winners would sell off power almost immediately once obtained as there was lack of an incentive to keep them. Why keep power when proxies were legal to use in tournament setting? There is a lack in pride of ownership when proxies are legal to use in tournaments. Eventually, most of this sold power went overseas (USA being the origin).

Proxies DID help Vintage out in the short term but in the long run with the advantage of hindsight, it was probably one of the factors that made Vintage into what it is today.

Ok, so that's what happened. I left Magic for seven years when vintage was still kicking, so I didn't know that.
However, it can't explain everything... If the P9 was instantly sold, it means that there were buyers to buy and play this very P9. Thus the number of players shouldn't have been decreasing.

As for the "pride of ownership", it covers different feelings. First : I'm proud to own my deck that I built myself. Second : I'm proud to own that expensive card that you can't afford. I think that one shouldn't have its place in a game (but agains, it's my idealistic and personal opinion)
