That being said, how well would this card be in MBC? I like the idea of a free 2/1 blocker every time I hit a land drop, and the fact that he gets a little quicker once I'm starting to finish an opponent off is gravy.
He can't block. Still, this card makes you want to topdeck a land!
I think you may want to balance the lightning and thunder. (And for added Vorthosity you can even play a "Thunder" card right after a "Lightining" card.. well because you know... )
It would be reasonable to assume that it's somehow connected with the bit of reminder text we were given in the tidbits: "The land continues to burn..."
Of all the info and clues we have so far, this is the closest thing that fits the description of "mana acting differently".
Most of the things I dont like revolve around enchantments:
Creature Enchanements - does not make sense.
Enchantments that tap - flavor wise not good. I know real creatures or lands do not literally turn sideways, but physically moving enchantments does not feel right in my opinion.
Auras that provide global effects - flavor wise not really good.
Morph Auras (and other non creature morphs as well)
For Tarmo, I defenitely want to see its ability again. Good design.
For six mana Wheel could even be her second ability.
If she had -3: Wheel of Fortune I would be pretty damn excited. It fuels the first ability, which then buffs her loyalty so you can wheel again. It sure would be powerful, but fair for six mana I think.
That would be too good synergy to let pass. Hope it turns out to be that.
(Probably ulitmate though).
I have a sneaking suspicion that Sorin is of a fifth rarity, rarer than mythic rare, and that we'll find out about it as the final reveal as a flashy way of showing it off.
He will only come in foils.. and as rare as rare foils...
I am with the "opponent discards, you draw" second ability as a very nice vampiric ability. Great flavor for Vampire Planeswalker.
Short answer is no. Usually for interblock synergy Design usually has a little mechanic overlap between sets. For flavor, not so much ('cept for future sight of course)
They are similar in a sense that they are floating.. but Zen floating objects are much smaller (looking at least) . These look like you can live on them, and looks more stable too.
I think the proposed ability is not a very good one. Flavor wise, maybe. But its not a popolar mechanic by itself to warrant a keyword. I like that magic vampires are different from each other that they feed on different things (life, creatures, cards).
Its also weird that the 2nd large block will rotate faster in standard, so less packs will be opened, and with the larger card pool, the money cards will be much more expensive.
Maybe that cant fill a 3 set block with the land theme.
And yes, me too getting tired of apocalyptic events.
Sad news for sure. Normally the internet is a messy, uncivilized place, but mtgsalvation has been my haven for people talking about the game they love.
Good luck on your next adventure and thanks for the years of fun.

Thunderbolt and Thunderclap sucks, but complements Lightning Bolt if you are into the Lightning and Thunder theme.
Rolling Thunder is also a good sweeper/finisher that fits the theme.
Not sure if it is worth splashing white for Lightning Helix, but if you already are, why not add a Thunder Totem for acceleration/white mana source.

His first ability makes it a good control card... (a better) douse in gloom every turn.
BTW.. was this the Bolas ultimate?
Mazar could be anywhere, Zen included.
