To be fair to Wizards, we are not the target audience. The target audience is that random person buying these packs from Wal Mart, Target, TRU, etc. The fact that these intro packs are also sold in comic and game shops is irrelvant. Until the large big box retailer stops purchasing this junk, I doubt Wizards will make many changes. The fact that these include two boosters means that a random person is probably not going to complain.

I agree with all of euknemarchon's statements. I am a licensed attorney in Texas, so i do have something to add to this discussion. This is really not as complicated as most people might think.

I guarantee that Wizards and Hasbo have reviewed the reprint policy and decided that it's not a good business decision to violate it. Damages is really not the issue. The cost of defense is the issue. Whether they could successfully defend a class action lawsuit is less important than the actual expense of defending it. Why risk significant legal expenses when the Company can print money by creating new cards?

    Generally, no.

Here's a link to the 11 auctions he had for Bonfires: http://www.ebay.com/csc/i.html?LH_SpecificSeller=1..eldraziseller&_sop=3&_fss=1&_from=R40&LH_Complete=1&_nkw=bonfire%20of%20the%20damned&rt=nc&_pppn=r1

Here's the link to all 266 auctions he had in the past few months. Now, nobody is saying that he stole all of these cards, but he was selling a ton of money cards.

CFB didn't win all the auctions. In fact, it's obvious that there are a lot of details missing from the CFB statement. They most likely suspected him, and then took the time to investigate to prove that he stole the cards.

In the above example, the amount of damge prevented is 3 to each permanent and/or you, so the amount of damage done to your opponent would be 3; not 30. I think you're reading a little too much into the card.

They're expensive little buggers. They're $27 at some online stores, but around $34 if you buy them at a retail store. Totally worth it though. Check youtube for some video reviews. I love mine.

SCG has him for $50.00. I agree that he won't ever see sub $20.00 prices, but seriously $50.00 bucks? They also have Venser and Elspeth at $50.00 too.

All the more reason to sell your money rares on ebay and then buy what you want. Or, in the alternative, trade with SCG and get 25% credit. I'm not saying that you won't lose money or that you're guaranteed to get a fair trade, but you're less likely to lose money, and you're guaranteed to get what you want in return. You don't have to haggle over the value; it is what it is.

@ryusei: i dont wanna take out solid ramp for the cobra, he dies to removal and all

tho i do need paths....as for my ramp targets, they're intended to be finishers that are near impossible to kill which the baloths are not

I agree that once one of them is out, then it's dies to only a few cards, but getting them out is the problem. The Baneslayer is the only one you can reliably hardcast. Malakir Bloodwitch, which will be played, slaughters both angels. The Inkwell is cool, but it may be too late by the time it appears..

I've seen plenty of G/X ramp decks, but these seem to be the best colors so far as I can see

any suggestions? and who here thinks this has competitive potential?

Lotus Cobras, Path to Exiles and more fetchlands (any one that can pull a Plains will do). Remove the Seaside Citadel and Gargoyle Castle.

The fetches, harrows and rampant growths will all trigger the Cobra so that you can hardcast a fatty or your Summoning Trap. I'd also consider switching out a few of your creatures for the Uncommon and Mythic Baloths since they both have Trample and excellent Landfall triggers(either +4/+4 or put a 4/4 Beast into play).

That blue spell that allows you to search for a trap is also an option, since it will essentially be Summoning Trap 5-8. Negates and Spell Pierces are also good.

  • posted a message on "Rare draft" at FNM...... okay?
If the redrafting event took into consideration that the cards in the draft pool were the only prize support and the entry fee was reduced accordingly, then I wouldn't have a problem with it. However, when i draft, I'm usually pay $15 - $16, so if I see a valuable card or a card I need for constructed, then I'm going to pick it.

I understand the argument that you should draft the best playable card and you're not playing in the spirit of the game if you draft a money rare, but if the economics of this game don't support that fact. If I have the opportunity to draft a $15 card, then why would I pick another card that may or may not help me when packs that may or may not have decent cards in them.

In any competitive endeavor, this how things transpire. Is it fair? Not at all. But when winning is on the line, and winning means everything, then this is to be expected.

Chapin made the vague statement to purposely mislead his opponent into making a bad decision. There was no lying or cheating. At any point, the opponent could have forced Chapin to point at the targets. If this was an online game it would have been obvious. If the opponent didn't speak the language, then this wouldn't be an issue (Chapin would have to physically show the targets).

This is the unfortunate, dirty side to all competitions. If you're not playing just for fun, then you should expect "dirty pool."

I would really like to see true sportsmanship and gracious winners. But it's just not realistic. If you "catch" the winnng touchdown and you know you were out-of-bounds, and no ref or instant replay sees it, then we all know that you're not going to be "honest" and admit that you were out.

The two following situations occurred at GPS this weekend:

My opponent had a Llanowar Elves and three lands to my lands and nothing else. He plays a Bloodbraid Elf, Cascading into a Terminate. He looks pensive for a moment, then puts the Terminate onto his Llanowar Elves. I look aghast, and he asks "I have to do that, right?" My responce is "Llanowar Elves is the only legal target for Terminate."

In another match, my opponent casts a Anathemancer to my board of 4x Island and Swamp. I ask "Who are you targeting?" "What?" "Who are you targeting with the mancer's ability?" "... um, nobody." "That's not legal. You must choose a target for the ability and place it on the stack." My opponent thinks for a minute, and thejn marks his life total down by a few points.

These are both legal plays. At no point was an incorrect or false statement made. Am I unsporting for these plays? And does it even matter if I take the time post match to explin the mistake?

These aren't "plays." However, they're legal statements, and they would be made by everyone that is trying to get to the top. They're not misleading like Chapin's, because it was your opponent's turn, and they were too lazy to read.

On a related note to the "food" cartegory, I am interested in knowing what different policies are out there for BYOB situations. Our local shop recently made the decision to prohibit us from bringing beer to drafts, much to the disappointment of several of us players. Mind you this was not any kind of overconsumption or anything, it was just that several of us would bring six packs and such to have a beer or two throughout th night. Nothing excessive. The justification was that there were occasionally younger kids around (although I've only seen one or two kids beyond upper high school range in the last year), but none of us ever would have given someone underage a drink, and had never done so. I was just wondering other people's oppinions of this.

I've always thought that an upscale coffee shop/bar/game store that served alcohol would be a good place to game and play magic. The problem is that you would have problems with younger players being around people that are drinking, and you would also face the inevitable problem of the gamers trashing the store and annoying the regular customers.
