It's a bit more budget, but looking at it now it's definitely gotten better over time. I try to adhere to my "Dream of Ice and Fire" theme as much as I can, so it's probably not as good as it could be, but since it's become a pet project of mine I've been bending the rules a bit here and there.... But I think it's still generally true to the theme as tons of cards from the last block fit the theme which has really enabled the deck to grow into something not necessarily competitive but definitely solid.
I've really enjoyed my Intet deck, glad to see her getting some love with DTK out.
Mine is far more casual than yours so I can't improve on anything really, but I'd look at adding Shaman of the Great Hunt or Shamanic Revelation and Xenagod. Shaman helps with card draw and his ability is nice, Revelation would be more efficient but also one-time use. Idk how much you need/want draw though since you've got Zegana and Reforge already.
Xenagod pumps Intet/someone else, gives haste, and he has nice synergy with Scourge of the Throne and Hellkite Charger.
As soon as I saw Sarkhan Unbroken, I wanted him in my deck. I just need to get my hands on one. Grats on yours Looking forward to seeing this deck evolve.
Edit: I'd definitely replace Moltensteel with Atarka, he's been an all-star in my deck. Look at Keiga, the Tide Star for replacing Harbinger of the Hunt. I'm not very impressed by Harbinger either and Keiga can be used to steal a troublesome commander. Other dragons you could consider are Horde-Smelter and Flameblast for their utility.
Maybe a noob question here, but does first strike count for the fight mechanic? My basic understanding of the rules would lean towards no, but if it does traitor Glissa would be OP in a fight deck.
I've been playing around with a similar deck as this. I also really like the Phalanx Leader in an Abzan deck. I think this strategy works best going wide instead of tall, personally, so I'd look into adding something like Launch the Fleet which triggers your heroics and gives you tokens. The second thing I'd look into adding is Mer-Ek Nightblade as an option to give those tokens deathtouch if you're facing a flying deck, but it's probably a sideboard card as it's more situational and Abzan Battle Priest is better in most matchups.
I voted Innistrad because it was my favorite set for art and flavor. Sad to see it's not higher up. That being said I'd also like to revisit Kamigawa, which was before I started playing but I like the flavor from the few cards I've used in EDH from that set.
I've been playing MtG for about a 1-1/2 years now, and I'm getting to the point where I'm no longer a noob. I still mainly play casually with my friends, as I don't have the budget to compete in Standard or Modern, but my favorite format is EDH. I also play a lot of limited, which is great because I get a lot of practice deck building and it's a fun way to build my collection on a budget.
I signed up to get more involved in the EDH world. Currently, I'm using a Jarad GY combo deck and an Intet Voltron deck (my favorite one), but I'm working on my next one. Probably Ruric Thar... he seems fun.
