In magic, Lands = 5 basic subtype (island, plains, forest, mountain swamp), non basic (broadly categorized only by the term "land"). With this, you have 6 subtypes of lands.
Dual means 2.
Dual Lands therefore in the strictest sense, means a land with 2 subtypes, and not a land that produces 2 types of mana. Lands produce mana, but lands =/ mana.
Therefore, by is strictest definition, only ABU duals and Ravnica lands counts as duals. However, to differentiate between the two, Ravnica lands were termed as shocks as they came into play with the ability to "shock" you.
If we went by the definition that any lands that produces 2 mana is a dual, i would assume "city of brass" and "glimmervoid" to be pentalands?
to makes things easier, we now just generally term every land that produces 2 mana as duals, but categorizes them base on the set they are released. so scars dual, m10 duel, etc. Though they are now common use for every land that produces 2 manas, it does not mean that the definitive of a "dual land" in its truest sense have changed.
my 2nd thoughts were, this aint that bad. Doesnt shut down the ability to dig for cards, I still have ancient grudge, outs. i can still run mental misstep in the side.
doubt any sideboards will dedicate 4 slots to this card anyway unless graveyard decks become too great of a force, which it wont because cage exists.
it certainly is a chore to overcome, but definitely not something cant be handled.
there are only currently 2 categories, tournament practice and casual room. therefore, by default, everything that doesnt fall under tournament practice will fall under casual. (at least i think so)
As an example, i'm currently running a deck, U/W Control (my fav archtype)
i run Jace V1, Elspeth, ***, StP, Baneslayers, Vendilion Cliques along with a solid mana base, (fetches, duals, etc)
this deck definitely isn't tuned and competitive enough for tourneys, (for both legacy & classic).
So my question, does this deck belong in casual? If not, where does it fall under?
PS: i do advertise that im playing a strong deck, but most dont bother reading before joining anyway.
I think most people fail to realise that the bulk of the people buying packs, aren't competitive.
i play casually and occasionally semi competitively (most limited), and when i see a card like this and say, wow! i think it's gonna be fun to build around, im gonna get me some. guess what, the bulk of wizards target market, is people like us.
Would it be a chase mythic? Probably not. Would it be expensive? probably not more than Beleren either. But hey, i'll be more than happy if they dont cost me a bomb to play with them.
About Protecting Jace
You're in blue! since when is repeatable card drawing bad in blue?
And if you're playing control, and you cant protect him, you probably cant protect yourself either.
At worse, this is a 3UU - draw a card, mill a call, gain 5 life.
And if he is burned out, then its +2 CA for you.
At best he is a monster CA engine with a 5 turn clock.
If you think Jace is crap and completely worthless
Jace is gonna be worth at least $10 due to being mythic and appealing to casual players like myself. Glimpse held that price tag for quite a while. (at least in my country).
It's always going to be useful opening one. i don't understand why everyone is just dissing the card. If you dont like it, then it's not designed for you.
If you crack one, sell it, you'll still make a profit easily out of the card.
If you open in limited, its gonna win you games. More profits.

Thanks for the info! It was a trade with a local dealer, so i figured i would be giving up some margin. just wondered how much.
I ended up with Pile B. Did I make off very badly?
Pile A
2x Polluted Delta
2x Flooded Strand
Pile B
2x Volcanic Island

there goes my burning vengeance deck.

amazing design, amazing flavour. i see it and want to build a deck around it immediately.
its just like in the movies! people always know that the zombies are coming.
the cip tap just evokes the idea that the zombies are beginning to crawl out from the ground, thus taking a turn to be fully functional.
and its 13 zombies! and it has flashback!
Epic flavour, definitely worthy of mythic status.
Magic goes in phases.
But in generally, you have your
1) main phase
2) Combat Phase
3) 2nd Main Phase.
Possible that 1st main phase is day? and 2nd main phase is night?
but if this is the case, you wont get to swing with the 3/3.
hmm.. prob not then.

does anyone else have this problem?
Would i love to spend a friday night play paper magic? I would definitely.
Do i have the luxury of doing it as often as i like? nope
So MTGO is the next best alternative.

im pretty interested in playing these formats. Any idea where on mtgo i can play them?
or rooms where people are playing this format?
