Thanks for the comments so far!

i think i'll try adding in an alternate tooth and nail combo, test out a singular staff of domination.

but nettle sentinel doesnt work well unless theres heritage druids and glimpse of nature as well?

i do also agree my main problem in the games i've played so far, is digging for that tooth and nail, or ramping up to nine mana after being wrath/firesprouted multiple times.

Would using elves to accel mana for tooth and nail be the best way to go?
or should i ramp to 9 mana using trace of abundance, harrow and such?

i'm not very familiar with elf ball. can someone explain to me how nettle sentinel works? is it only with heritage druid?

play testing wise i also get creamed by fire sprout. what does elf ball do to handle fire sprout?

Hi all, couldnt find a similar thread elsewhere so i thought i post this up.

The goal of this deck is to excel to 9 mana, play tooth and nail to get Painter's Servant and Iona into play.
However, even if the combo portion of this deck is disrupted, the deck can still be played like a tribal elf deck.

Main Problems that i'm facing with the deck.

    1) Not being able to draw tooth and nail at times
    2) Not being able to ramp up to 9 mana dues to being Firesprouted / Wrath
    3) Inconsistent land drops.

    Possibilities

    1) Instead of going with elf for accel, ramp with trace of abundance, kodoma's reach, harrow and such.
The bad thing of this is that it makes tooth and nail alot easier to disrupt and anticipate.

    Hi,

i have not been following the metagame as regularly as i have been. but is there a reason for the jump of Garruk for 5-6 tix to 13 tix?

should i sell my Garruks now? and wait for its price to drop?

Just got pummeled on mtgo by a U/W flying deck.

    i saw

    2x serra angel
    1x guardian seraph
    2x pacifism
    2x snapping drake
    1x wind drake
    2x griffin sentinel.
    1x phantom warrior

not too sure what the rest of the deck had though. but no chance at all against that deck.

For all you know, they might decide to print anti-tarmo cards by using delve.

    3BB
    Instant
Destroy target creature. it cant be regenerated
    Double Delve
(this spell cost 1 less for each card you exile from either yours or target opponents graveyard)

    how does this work? haha.

I didn't say Jace appeared to be an antagonist, I said he behaved exactly like Tezz in Agents of Artifice and that I found it disturbing. All this pro-/antagonist thing only depends on the point of view.

sorry. didnt make myself clear. It is very unlikey that WOTC would make Jace the antagonist in any stories due to him being their poster child.

but yes, i agree with you. Pro-Ant is simply a matter of how the story is framed.

If Tezz is still under Bolas's control, then it means we have the most powerful 'walker controlling at least two ther 'walkers as puppets. I don't like this. I don't mind when the main villain has an army of mind-slaves (like the undead force he had built on Grixis), but I think the 'walkers should each follow their own goals rather than serving or even being controlled by an another.

no one really knows what Tezz is about now. for all you know he might turn darth vader against bolas after bolas "rebuilds??" him.

(only his arms is etherium right? the other part of his is purely human? but the again jace removed his etherium arm. so he's all man now?)

    1. Jace is really becoming a new Tezzeret IMO. Just look how he behaves in this part, the things he says, this just screams Tezz IMO. And I'm not happy with that - I thought Jace had chosen the better path at the end of AoA.

i dont think wizards will make Jace as an antagonist, seeing how he's their poster boy and all.

i'll actually think UWB will be more likely for him. seeing how they mention him walking a fine line between good and evil. though he'll prob end up good in the end.

I'm very surprised that it's Sarkhan who plays the role of Bolas's puppet and not Tezzeret. Does this mean that Tezz had fled?

Tezz is still probably being "repaired by bolas", and if not, he's probably still in some sort of catatonic state.

For all you know, the demon who "owns" liliana is just a minion of bolas, or manipulated by bolas to manipulate liliana.

it probably just ends up as one big bolas plot. for nothing more than his amusement, and to see who is more worthy of being a minion to him.

5CC is fairly dead now thanks to the rotating vivids / pools, but 2-3 color control is far more possible.

i wont be surprised if they attempted to use the alara block 5cc mana base built though.

anyway, with runed halo also rotating out, i think 5cc will find it hard to contend with anathemancer.

    i agree.

braids of fire is too slow.

btw, wake thrasher because fanatics are unlikely to be played now?

how about following Demilich Manipulator's thought experiment.
what cards due to the weakening of others, are now stronger, and thus more likely to be playable?

i'm not an extended player, so i'm not sure of the metagame.

but FOD isnt really used in legacy. and if the competitive decks in extended dont use them, i think now is a good time to sell.

especially if there are still standard legal tourneys at your area.

i personally feel that the price would likely drop drastically once it rotates out.
