You know, this card reminds me of male privilege in a nut shell. Dudes come in here all heated and complain about her hairstyle non-stop. I've seen it in this page, and in real life. (LGS of all places) Can you tell me with one-hundred percent confidence, that if a beautiful woman (in your eyes) came up to you with this hairstyle, and confessed her undying love for you- That you'd turn her down?! "Sorry, sweetie. I won't date girls who cut their hair like you do." That's a real fantasy right there.
Furthermore, you know what? Not every single woman has to have her hair styled in a way that is attractive to you. She wasn't put on this earth, (or any other in the multiverse) to be looked at. In fact- she's not required to do anything at all in order to be attractive to you. It's not her job to be pretty. It's her job to make creatures with power, or toughness, equal to one- unblockable.
Since we're on topic. You know what hairstyle bothers me? Female knights and angels with super long hair. That's an excellent way to have your hair pulled, while someone else is chopping your head off. This style, or an old fashioned bob is probably best for the type of combat they'd see. Can you imagine getting all that hair inside a helmet? Pfft, fat chance. You'd need an oversized helmet.
While I personally would never wear this style, when I see other women wearing it- they're usually a confident bada** (and after reading all this hate, I might do it simply for spite. It'll keep those types of guys away from me.)
Up until today, I've never felt the need to go on a feminist rant about anything. Once again, It's something that I always left to someone else with more confidence than me. Glad to see that my confidence has gone up.
I'd turn her down by virtue of my homosexuality. And frankly, Vorthos care about art. So yes, her appearance is relevant to us. I don't care as much for this art for her, I can think of many pieces of Kamigawa or styles of artists I'd have preferred to this. I understand she's meant to look hard or rugged like a rogue, and I do love her having the jitte and a nice outfit. But having the same hairstyle as another legend, which isn't terribly elegant for so such a desired character and clashes with her neat outfit is kinda lame. Especially after seeing how neat and aristocratic the artwork for things like Soratami and all that from Kamigawa are.
Pretty sure I trashed males for looking old, dirty, too burly or unattractive as well. People can like whatever they want. And dislike things all the same. Her being a female character doesn't make her immune to criticism.
Thank you for your reply. It was well thought out and respectful. Clearly, the question in my first statement wouldn't apply to someone who isn't interested women. I did say "(In your eyes)" but you're correct, that doesn't quite cover all the bases. In that case, I apologize.
I may be bias by the virtue of my own homosexuality, but I see the hairstyle as quite powerful- but only on the right people. You have to have good bone structure to wear that style and rock it. Not everyone can wear it. Tetsuko does- very well.
Your point about her hairstyle being shared with another legend. There are plenty of women legends with long hair in this set, and I don't see a single complaint about that. So clearly, It's more about this hairstyle than anything else. There are only so many hairstyles to begin with. I'm not a hairstylist, but this does appear to be some direct bias towards the style in particular.
When it comes to basing a women's appearance, I really do believe that in this day in age- people should be a little more careful about how they word it. With all the bull that has happened over the last 12 months. People need to learn to be a bit more respectful, perhaps- stop judging people (or art) based on appearance.
No problem, of course. For me, the hairstyle seems too modern for a character depicted in the pre-industrial era that she's in for a fantasy game about magic. That clash and real-world modern influence makes it more difficult to connect with the setting.
Yes, of course, let's all take a minute to remember how understated Asian hairstyles were back in the da--

She'd be mega-busted.
Trust me, there's gonna be some free spell mechanic soon like Suspend/Rebound, and then she'll start getting serious play. Buy this thing.
We've gotten steampunk Red for too long imho.
