Colt47 posted a message on Pro Tour Dominaria/Richmond - Standard/Draft - 6/1-3Posted in: Standard (Type 2)Quote from Thorshammer813 »How do you stop the guy then?
The reason the decks are hard to stop is that they aren't aggro decks and everyone is thinking they are aggro decks because people are looking at the deck name and not the contents. All of these red decks make use of a mix of Glory Bringer, Hazoret the Fervent, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, and Rekindling Phoenix as their top end. Does that sound aggro? Outside of everyone's favorite indestructible god, the other two cards are mid-range grinders. And slamming 4x Goblin Chainwhirler in every build is really pushing them into the mid-range territory.
Control should easily kill these things. The only reason they didn't is because the control players didn't exist. Where's the Authority of the Consuls, Settle the Wreckage, and Seal Away? Unlicensed Disintegration answers a Lyra Dawnbringer, but I don't see how that will help if someone is running Spell Pierce and / or Negate with a Torrential Gearhulk. Heck, I'd run Noxious Gearhulk just for the life gain and the ability to kill one of their value creatures. -

April posted a message on Tetsuko Umezawa, fugitiveYou know, this card reminds me of male privilege in a nut shell. Dudes come in here all heated and complain about her hairstyle non-stop. I've seen it in this page, and in real life. (LGS of all places) Can you tell me with one-hundred percent confidence, that if a beautiful woman (in your eyes) came up to you with this hairstyle, and confessed her undying love for you- That you'd turn her down?! "Sorry, sweetie. I won't date girls who cut their hair like you do." That's a real fantasy right there.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
Furthermore, you know what? Not every single woman has to have her hair styled in a way that is attractive to you. She wasn't put on this earth, (or any other in the multiverse) to be looked at. In fact- she's not required to do anything at all in order to be attractive to you. It's not her job to be pretty. It's her job to make creatures with power, or toughness, equal to one- unblockable.
Since we're on topic. You know what hairstyle bothers me? Female knights and angels with super long hair. That's an excellent way to have your hair pulled, while someone else is chopping your head off. This style, or an old fashioned bob is probably best for the type of combat they'd see. Can you imagine getting all that hair inside a helmet? Pfft, fat chance. You'd need an oversized helmet.
While I personally would never wear this style, when I see other women wearing it- they're usually a confident bada** (and after reading all this hate, I might do it simply for spite. It'll keep those types of guys away from me.)
Up until today, I've never felt the need to go on a feminist rant about anything. Once again, It's something that I always left to someone else with more confidence than me. Glad to see that my confidence has gone up. -

Could even be a mechanic for a demon tribe.
Kinda like "possession" or something.
So your "demon" acts like a aura, then pops into play if the target dies, yours or of the opponent.
Kinda like that:
Little Demon BB
Creature - Demon (C)
Possession 3B (You may play this card for its Possession cost, if you do, exile it and it possesses a creature of your choice. When this creature dies, put this card onto the battlefield.)
Possessed creature gets +3/-1.
3/1
Medium Demon 2BB
Creature - Demon (U)
Possession B (You may play this card for its Possession cost, if you do, exile it and it possesses a creature of your choice. When this creature dies, put this card onto the battlefield.)~ and the possessed creature must attack each turn if able.
5/4
Big Demon 3BBB
Creature - Demon (R)
Possession 4B
Possessed creature gets +5/+5 and flying.
Flying
When ~ dies, exile it. If you do, it possesses a creature of your choice.
5/5
Something along that line with a fixed wording. -

Valarin posted a message on [[THS]] God CardsPosted in: The Rumor MillQuote from rubieraI was just going to say that.....maybe we will get the sixth color after all. From all that I have heard so far it seems like with Theros WTC will re-package concepts from other TCGs. I know nothing about Yugioh but the fight the hydra concept for the pre-release is just another way to play a WOW TCG dungeon deck. It seems timely to catch the last breath of the WOW TCG and pump it into MTG.
Annnnnd the shark has been jumped. Theros has now officially joined the ranks of every other hope chest set out there. We're seen speculation Theros will have Thoughtseize, Fetches, Duals, Full Art Basics, every single Future Sight mechanic, a 5th rarity, and now the creme de la creme of rumors, a 6th color.
OK WoTC, you can start spoilers now. The Theros speculation train has run it's course. -

tomsloger posted a message on [[DGM]] DailyMTG Previews 4/22i really like this set. a lot of people are saying they dont, and im gonna assume they care about constructed.Posted in: The Rumor Mill
i dont.
this is gonna be so much fun to draft. only 2 completely "unplayable" (clear a path and crypt incursion, though uncovered clues is close) compared to 9 in gtc and 4 in rtr. every fuse card is a solid playable or better except wear/tear, and youll occasionally be very happy thats in your sideboard. every guild has a first pickable uncommon in the multicolor section except azorius, and it has the best common.
i am so excited. ive only glanced at the rares, but they mostly seem pretty cool.
except trait doctoring. screw that card.
Quote from TanionThis Human Merfolk creature type crap is just dumbest thing I have seen since Coiling Oracle.
dude, snake elf druid is the second coolest creature type ever. only surpassed by yeti mutant ([CARD/]drelnoch[/CARD])
Quote from itachiitachiRTR block is no Ravnica block, but throw some shocks in it and start all the sets with the same letters and most people will be happy.
holy crap, i didnt notice that. strong work.
Quote from KryptnytWind drake reprint yusssss
i feel like this is sarcasm, but im pumped. i have drafted that card literally hundreds of times.
Quote from ayrtonmanueli feel bad for the people who will get a izzet-dimir pack at the pre release...
they dug their own grave when they chose one of those. -

user-2557200 posted a message on I wonder... (5 mana card in legacy)I actually think it would be alright if it were 5 mana and could destroy lands for 1 mana. If they can' deal with it, they are dead on the spot if you untap.Posted in: Custom Card Creation
However it would actually be really powerful as a griselbrand like effect. It could be played in storm, making it possible to use Carvern to make sure counterspells are ineffective.
Also it would allow storm to play more spells at cmc 2 and 3. - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

Young Pyro did long time ago. It's a red card that wins you the game and can stall fat beaters for a million years (barring Temur Battlerages)

Mairsil, the Pretender.
1
Sorcery
Take an extra turn after this one. At the beginning of that turn's end step, you lose the game unless you have no cards in your hand.
A variation on Final Fortune that favors all-out aggro.
Sulfurize I 1RR
Sorcery
Destroy target colorless permanent.
Sidegrade to Pillage – hits Ulamog, doesn't hit Gearhulks.
Valkyrie's Summons I 4RR
Enchantment
At the beginning of your combat step, you may exile a creature card in your graveyard. If you do, create a token that's a copy of it onto the battlefield tapped and attacking, except it's a red Phoenix and it gains flying.
Red rarely has card advantage, and this can give recursion while maintaining an aggressive flavor.
Immolating Brand I R
Instant
Immolating Brand deals 1 damage to target creature or planeswalker.
Spell Mastery – If there are two or more instant and/or sorcery cards in your graveyard, Immolating Brand deals X damage to that target instead, where X is the amount of instant and/or sorcery cards in your graveyard.
Versatile Skred that has a more sensible build pattern for decks and allows Red to have an answer to, say, late-game Teferi.
Spellplate Goblin I 1RR
Creature – Goblin Wizard
Indestructible, hexproof, menace
When an opponent casts their second spell each turn, Spellplate Goblin loses indestructible, hexproof and menace.
[3/1]
Red decks in general suffer vs. stompy match ups and fighting late-game value cards. Spellplate Goblin can slink past single fat blockers and avoid removal if the opponent is focused on using fat cards. If the opponent can string two spells together, however, they can value out this guy really hard. It's also a good tool for Goblin decks in general to tutor for.
Goblin Hoarder I 2R
Creature – Goblin Rogue
Haste
When Goblin Hoarder enters the battlefield, each player stashes their graveyard. (To stash a card, exile it face-down and put it in your stash. You may peek at cards in your stash. Whenever a player would draw a card, they may put a card from the stash pile into their hand instead.)
[2/3]
Graveyard hate that's not quite graveyard hate. Let's you bring back value Goblins in Legacy play, even if it allows your enemy to recuperate by redrawing sweepers. With Haste, it can slide for a few hits before the enemy sweeps, and it's P/T makes it good to send into trades and it dodges Kolagan's Command.
Tibalt at Wit's End I RR
Planeswalker
{+1} – Target player reveals a card at random from their hand. You may have that player discard that card. If you do, that player draws a card.
{-1} – Create a 2/1 red Devil token with haste. When it dies this turn, put 2 loyalty counters on Tibalt at Wit's End. At the beginning of the end step, exile this token.
{-6} – You get an emblem with "At the beginning of your end step, discard your hand and draw three cards. If you would draw a card while your library has no cards in it, you win the game instead."
[2]
A different kind of Red walker. +1 can lightly screw your opponent's plans, or perhaps give you a chance to filter some bad cards on your hand. -1 helps putting pressure on enemies, and allows you to punish blockers by having Tibalt gain loyalty out of the exchange plus opens up possibilities for burning out the blockers with the extra 2 points of damage. Ultimate accelerates your drawing power, and gives you an alternate win con. Best part about is that you can aggressively use Tibalt's +1 to get there faster!
