It's pretty funny that more than half the Ultimate Masters "masterpieces" for lack of a better word are in your cube! Have any of them caught your eye wtwlf? I really like the Eternal Witness. Tbh, I've never liked any the artwork for the card before now. Mana Vault also looks really nice.
I have to agree, since cards have been released that have really given thopters a solid presence in the cube like the Foundry, my playgroup has been tickled pink about sending death squadrons of thopters as a main deck archtype. I also love it because you can do multiple color combinations so no death squad is the same from deck to deck
My goal was to create a discussion about an interesting topic to what seemed multiple people. He didn't have to give me an analysis. How about just a reply about what eternal dragon's goal is and what kind in white card might be similar if any, or if there's none that spring to mind as a suitable replacement maybe a white card that he's been interested plugging into the cube but it's just on the cusp. Coulda talked about something like that, had a good and enjoyable time. But nah, let's be snarky and bark something about not having the time to do a rigorous analysis... After he had already said he didn't know and I said it was fine.
Now we're not talking about fun and enjoyable stuff, we're talking about the stress/aggression that he vented for no reason. He's acting like I was ordering him to do something and not simply trying to strum up a conversation about it. Cya.
I didn't ask you to do an analysis. I didn't ask you to figure out the role/responsibility of every pet card (which frankly I would be surprised if you don't already know/understand considering the level of dedication you have for your cube). Which I respect. I only wanted to know what card you figure would be next in line over Eternal Dragon since I've seen you move your pet cards in and out over the years. I also asked if you were willing to extend my question to your other pet cards because I believe I'm not the only one who wonders. But hey, I asked and you said no. No need to be snarky about it though.
What card off the top of your head would you put in the cube if eternal dragon no longer interested you as a pet card? In fact, if I could be greedy and ask the same question about each of your pet cards?
What Wildfire is talking about is something that my own players have brought up to me as well. The answer to it, imo, is that with a pool of 540 cards, the odds of you reliably getting the reanimator package in a glimpse draft, draft, etc.. isn't anywhere near guaranteed. True reanimator decks are rare. Decks that pack a reanimator spell and a discard outlet of some kind, aren't so much. I've seen tons of ways wtwtlf's cube has of cheating in big stuff early in the game. I've had a player go Black Lotus->Mana Vault->Mana Crypt->Inferno Titan->Magus of the Wheel in an organized tournament I hosted with 12 players. Turn 1 9/9 worth of stats take 3 and I'm going to refill my hand. That deck lost to Golgari Recurring Nightmare in some very silly finals.
Hey wtwlf123, have you ever considered writing an article about your cube talking about the way cards interact with eachother and some important archetypes/card choices that you think are necessary in a power cube? Just a thought!

retrofitter foundry looks like a hilarious card. There's a surprising amount of thopter token creating cards in the cube. Suddenly you have a 1cmc way to turn them into 4/4's at will? AND it comes with a built in untap mechanic? Did we just get a Rogue Squadron archtype added into the cube? Do Sword of the Meek and Thopter Foundry have a home now?!

TL:DR When everyone is super, no one is.

Though your cube is getting fat with that 3.27 av. CMC

It's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see if it pays off for him.
