Seems like adding a couple of the tapped lands that remove GY (sorry name slips my mind atm) might be worth it. If jund/junk and other creature decks pick up more popularity so with tarmo which it can help with somewhat. Also still good vs storm and dredge.
Description :
(This is before Fate Reforged. Haven't looked over it yet to see what would fit in. Feel free to suggest cards/changes.)
Your goal is to make a big fast empty the pits. You do this buy filling your graveyard with all the various cards. You have cards to fill your hand and your yard, creatures to fill your yard and block vs aggro. Don't worry about chumping your creatures if they get a big threat out early you just wanna survive till you get to a big pits to end the game hopefully.
Sidisi is also a huge card... the 2nd most important card in the deck. It fills your yard, its a decent sized creature, and it provides a zombie most of the time which is a chumper till your pits. Try to keep Sidisi alive until your ready to go off as he is pretty important and keeps you alive. When you are ready to go off go ahead and attack with Sidisi even if he will be blocked or die. You mill 3 cards and get a chance to get a zombie... and even if he dies its another delve target for Empty the pits.
I always save Empty the Pits for the end of their turn. Its an instant which is really nice ... sorcery speed and its probably not playable. Your zombies come into play tapped so if you cast at the end of their turn they will be untapping right away. And as with a card like Empty the warrens you just want a big "storm" as fast as possible and then just beat them with sheer number of creatures.
The mana might need some work I haven't tested it too much yet. Also the Sultai Ascendency's while nice... might be too slow. Could possibly be replaced with something.
The Sideboard is a complete work in progress so don't take too much in with it. The Negates are for control decks... counterspells are not your friend also bile blight and drown in sorrow are killers so being able to counter them is nice. Obelisk of Urd is nice but too slow so maybe it would be considered against a deck with the preforementioned spells but still questionable. The rest is just nice removal. Murderous cut while easy to cast for really cheap hinders your ability to cast a big pits so it may not be the best choice.
All suggestions are welcome. I built this on MTGO and have had fun and success so far with it. I can't currently afford the mana base though which is really important so that hinders me some but im sure it will be great when I get the mana base.
Still working on the sideboard. Any and all suggestions appreciated.
I played this in Standard when it was legal and it was fun. I figured in modern it should be more powerful. It might not be a top tier deck but should be fun at least. I am posting here for comments and ideas. Its not finished so looking for card ideas.
I am thinking BUG is the best color base to go with.
The core is Immortal Servitude. All of the creatures will be 2 CMC. So one of these will bring them all back.
Another core card is Blood Artist. You will chump or sac things and this will eat away at your opponent's life. This is your main win con. Bloodthrone Vampire is your sac outlet. If your ready to servitude you will attack with everyone. Any creature that will just die to blockers ( a lot will they are weak) you just sac to trigger Blood Artist and pump this guy. Even if a creature is unblocked and only 1 dmg and this guy is unblocked you of course want to chump to pump him. After the fight you sac everything and then bring it back with Servitude. Usually by then you can combo them out.
2 CMC creatures that are considered: Snapcaster Mage: for when you mill your Servitude or need to get it back. Dark Confidant: gives card advantage and you have nothing huge to hurt you a lot. Bloodghast: Works well from the GY. Strangleroot Geist: Undying for 2 sacs and has haste. Elvish Visionary: Card draw. Alchemist's Apprentice: Card Draw. Augur of Bolas: Find Servitude or a mill spell.
A lot of these are from the standard deck and im sure there are better things out there so asking for your advice and suggestions.
Also thinking Aether Vial maybe be worth running since they are all 2 CMC. Forbidden Alchemy was used in the standard version for mill and its a little better in that it can find Servitude.
Lands will be figured out later when get the card base down. Thinking a few Drakmor Salvage would be nice if the mana can support it.
So what are your suggestions and ideas? Is BUG the best color choices? Thanks.
well I have been playing a lot of dailies lately. Played pure breach deck one time. Then played 2 different RG scapeshift decks (prime time and lands to kill you) then today in the daily played a deck with prime time and the lands to kill you along with breach and emrakul... more less mixing the 2 decks. It might just be someones brew though.
I also didn't realize the bans weren't online till 28th so I ended up facing a UR delver with TC. I still should have beat them but made 1 misplay that cost the match. TC was a beating though so without it will be easy.
Sad thing is I even lost without them playing that today. Playing like Prime time was enough just getting the lands. Also today played one that ran through the breach and emrakul as well.
Have you read the matchups section of the primer? That should be all you need. And keep in mind it's easier once Dig is banned.
Yeah I havent played against a version running blue yet so no Dig or Cspells. The matchups sections doesn't have sideboarding yet either. He asked for suggestions on it. I can shut off his prime times but they usually still eventually get me with the lands when we go to top deck mode.
I usually found myself needing a topdeck to win with this deck. Even at times with rack(s) and even bridge out. And also found myself having to mulligan way to much.
I originally ran it with Pack rat lately I have been without it. Is it worth bringing back in? Also I had bile blight as my removal but now should I consider dismember or something else?
So how do we beat a chalice of the void on 1? Played a Twin matchup today. Thoughtsiezed and he had 2 of them from the start so I took 1 and then he played the other on 1. That shuts down most of the spells and I spent lots of turns passing. Any kind of artifact removal thats playable? I know that I could have eventually won with Urami or mutavaults possibly but he went off before I could. I don't have any torpor orbs in the sideboard yet but I guess thats one way to do it and just shut off his wincon.
