Your deck feels like an Aggro-Combo deck but that's base on assumption of what your other cards are and your playing style

Anyway, MTG is made to have fun with friends... tournament is another thing, another discussion...
If your deck is too strong or too borring for your friend, perhaps make some other decks and vary a bit...
I'm not saying to give him wins by making bad decks, i'm saying you made a good deck, ok, now try to make some other good decks

I've added archetypes in my custom rulebook last weekend Smile

    Combo deck

Centered on a special set of cards, they attempt to create a powerful effect that either wins the game immediately or creates a situation that subsequently leads to a win.
The combo should be strong enough to win, the deck should be reliable enough to produce the combo on a regular basis, and the deck should be able to use the combo fast enough to win.

Is this definition of Banding accurate?

    Banding

    Attacking:
As a player declares his attackers (Declare Attackers Step), he or she may create a group of creature that will attack a player or planewalker. This group must all have bands though one non-banding creature can be included in a band. This group of units is referred as a band and a creature can only be part of one band at a time.

Even though this band acts as one on the battle assignment, Banding doesn't cause attacking creatures to share or remove Abilities. The attacking creatures in a band are separate permanents and must be able to attack the targeted player or planewalker.

Once an attacking band has been announced, it lasts for the rest of combat, even if something later removes banding or "bands with other" from one or more of the creatures in the band. A creature that's removed from combat is also removed from the band it was in. If one member of a band would become blocked due to an effect, the entire band becomes blocked.

As a player declares his blockers (Declare Blockers Step), he or she may assign blockers to any of the creatures in a band as long as the assignment is legal. Each other creature in the same band becomes blocked by that same blocking creature regardless of the restriction they could have had engaging the other units.

During the Combat Damage Step, the owner of the band can divide combat damage received to this band as he or she chooses among any number of creatures in it. Damage may exceed the remaining toughness of a creature part of a band.

    Defending:
During the Combat Damage Step, if multiple blockers are blocking the same creature or band and as long as one of those blockers has Banding ability then the defending player divide the combat damage received from that attacking creature or band as he or she chooses among any number of creatures blocking that same creature or band. Damage may exceed the remaining toughness of a creature.

This is an exception to the usual damage procedure.

    Band With Other

This ability is a limited version of Banding, written as Bands with other (quality). A creature with this ability has Banding but only if all the other creatures in the band have the specified quality.
Banding ability is used subsequent to this rule being true.

Ok so basically Banding is countering Trample in the sens that the defender choose where the combat damage are going, not the attacker and the trample ability requires the attacker to choose where the extra damage would go, either more damage to the creature or to the player. Since the defender is choosing the damage process, it would be unlikely for him to choose himself. That's what i needed to know. Thanks

    If i read rule 702.19b

"When checking for assigned lethal damage, take into account damage already marked on the creature and damage from other creatures that’s being assigned during the same combat damage step"

I guess it means that the extra trample damage would go onto the player

Best option for the defending player would say
Put 11 damage (1 trample) on creature D
Put 4 trample damage on creature E
Therefor player would take 1 damage, E "would be down to 1 life point" until the end of turn

On the other hand it says "Once all those blocking creatures are assigned lethal damage" but not all creature have been assigned lethal damage

On the other hand "lethal damage" definition seem to be as soon as a creature has been assign damage equal or greater to his toughness, it has been assigned lethal damage

    Therefor my question

No need to type in all the possibilities
What i'm asking is let's say all 15 damage goes to D
15 damage on a creature with 5 toughness
among those 15 damage, there is 5 trample damage, can you access the 5 trample damage first on creature D and then say well the extra 10 goes to D too but it's dead anyway. Or do you say well there's 15 damage, your creature can't take all of them so 5 trample damage goes on the player...

How about this definition? (I may have something to add about trample...)

    Banding

Banding ability is used subsequent to this rule being true.

"If there is 5 trample damage present and 10 normal damage, you can assign the 5 trample damage first and the 10 remaining would then go nowhere if it would exceed the maximum toughness of your defending creatures but there would at least be a total of 5. Correct?"

I mean for the purpose of the example

    Attacking
    A 5/5 Trample
    B 5/5 banding
    C 5/5 banding

    Blocking
    D 5/5
    E 5/5 banding

Does the defending player gets 5 damage from the result of trample

    So what i've wrote:
"This damage may exceed the remaining toughness of a creature part of a band although damage can't be assigned to the next creature in line until lethal damage has been done to the previous creature"
isn't correct if i follow the rulebook... pick that from a website

    But lets say

Creature A-B-C are in a band and attacks
First they are all together, there isn't any 1 creature card standing up for the band. correct?

Lets say creature D can't block creature A but can block creature B or C so i assign creature D to block B
I also have creature E that does have banding that i assign to block creature A
Since they are blocking the same band, the banding ability triggers and let me choose the damage process on my creature. Correct?
Since the attacking creature are in a band, the attacker choose the damage process on his creature. Correct?

If a creature with Double Strike or First Strike is present, the first strike would let band owner receiving the damage choose where to place them to try to keep each of them alive. Correct?
If a creature with Tramble is present, you must apply all damage first to creatures and then the rest to players if they've all receive damage? correct?

If there is 5 trample damage present and 10 normal damage, you can assign the 5 trample damage first and the 10 remaining would then go nowhere if it would exceed the maximum toughness of your defending creatures but there would at least be a total of 5. Correct?

Just let me know if anything i've wrote is wrong. Thanks

Thanks, will do this is helpfull

So if i have 5 creatures blocking 1 creature having one of those 5 creatures the banding abilities, i as the defender (instead of the attacker) select where all damage goes slip among my creatures?

    Went see the rule book...

Wow they don't band but act as if they were but instead you divide the damage as you wish instead of being stuck having to put all the damage on the first creature on the stack....
Couldn't they just said it's a band but you choose where the damage goes......It's complicated because they made it complicated....anyway...yeah i'll rewrite this thing in a few and come back with a new version

I feel i'm gonna have to say something like if multiple creatures are blocking a creature or band at the damage steps, if the criteria to be a band is met between those creatures, then you select where the damage goes instead of following a stack like the attacking band....i dunno something like that...

702.21j During the combat damage step, if an attacking creature is being blocked by a creature with banding, or by both a [quality] creature with “bands with other [quality]” and another [quality] creature, the defending player (rather than the active player) chooses how the attacking creature’s damage is assigned. That player can divide that creature’s combat damage as he or she chooses among any number of creatures blocking it. This is an exception to the procedure described in rule 510.1c.

"If the defending player decides to block a band or decides to assign a band as blockers, he chooses one creature within each concern bands and assigns them on the battlefield. The assignment must be legal. Then, all other units within each band will follow respectively their creature that was assigned regardless of the restriction they could have had engaging the other units."

I'm saying that the defending player selects 1 creature from the band and assigns it on the battlefield (attacking of defending units) although the assignment for that blocking or attacking creature must be legal. The rest of the units in the band will follow that unit.

"Bands are not formed while blocking."
isn't it at the "DECLARE ATTACKERS STEP" for the attacking player and at the "DECLARE BLOCKERS STEP" for the defending player? that's what i mean't but i could change the formulation

I'm making my custom rulebook ...custom made from the original rulebook but i've added alot more to it and i do have the definition of every abilities in the game. But i want to put something easy to understand out there, not definition of the competition rule. Therefor i felt that i had to rewrite banding from what i could find on the internet.... to give more information than the basic description but not too much so that it becomes gibberish... kind of a step by step guide to Banding

For example lots of the abilities there are great but Banding isn't.
