Target creature must attack or block this turn if able.
Target player sacrifices a creature, then gains life equal to that creature's toughness.
Target noncreature artifact becomes a 2/2 artifact creature until end of turn.
"Lust, love, or hunger? What makes your skin crawl?"
Welcome to the show!
Criteria: I had to dig a little to figure out what your choice was: Non-Green Flesh. (Next time there is a choice to make, be sure you tell us what it is!) Flavor: The flavor text is great, describing the three modes. Function: It’s interesting to have a modal spell, I wouldn’t have thought of that myself. Each color is a mode. I like how there is some synergy here: make your opponent sac a creature, then force another to attack or block. Or turn one of their artifacts into a creature and force that to attack. Innovation: A Grixis charm has been done before, but I think it is a bit creative with regards to the contest here, so I’ll give you some credit for that. Good work.
Ringing of Steel1RR
Sorcery (R)
Untap all creatures that were blocked this turn. Creatures you control get +1/+0 until end of turn. You get an additional combat phase followed by an additional main phase this turn. Some find the clash of sword against sword to be music more pure and moving than any bard's ballad.
Criteria: Non-White Metal, sounds good. Flavor: Absolutely, the lust of combat certainly comes out in this card. I like the idea of using additional combat phases for describing metal, and I get that everyone in melee gets to go again. Function: Red gets additional combat phases, that works. At a glance, 3 mana does seem very good, and the buff on top of that, but this assumes the attackers didn’t die. Really, the creatures left are going to be those who survive after a combat trick (meaning less mana available to cast this spell, which is less likely), large ones who are chump-blocked or creatures that trade (both creatures with higher toughness). So it’s certainly niche, and has to be played in the post-combat main phase. Innovation: This is a fairly innovative. It’s not just an extra combat. It’s only combat for those engaged in combat. I like it.
Incandescent Lustre2RR
Sorcery (R)
Incandescent Luster deals damage to each creature equal to their converted mana cost. Those who shine the brightest burn the hottest.
Criteria: Check. Flavor: The flavor text helps explain the card. I think it works. Typically when dealing damage, it’s always power. Very curious you chose converted mana cost here, but perhaps this is White’s influence of light. Function: The spell works, except I think this will likely end up being a board wipe. How many creatures have a converted mana cost less than their toughness? It is very rare. Of course, so is this card, similar to Chandra's Ignition.
From The Void2GG
Sorcery {M}
Exile all nonland permanents you control. Reveal the top X cards of your library, where X is the number of nonland permanents exiled this way. You may put a creature card from among them onto the battlefield. Shuffle the rest into your library. Wherever the thing from the void steps foot on, the place will just become another void with nothing left.
Criteria: Yep! Flavor: Void being Green is interesting. I’m not sure if I would choose that first — maybe Blue, with the magical vortexes, or White, being the divine. Red had Chaos Warp, maybe a Chaos Ward? But I don’t think that’s a big problem. Function: Certainly the effect feels Green. At first I thought this was insanely oppressive. However, early game it’s really good, and late game where the game is stalling it could be really good in Limited. In EDH, this would be something to play after a board wipe, or merely as a combo piece. I still feel like it’s a high price to pay, and even though Green is usually creature heavy, there’s still no guarantee you’ll even see a creature card.
Purifying FlameW
Instant (C)
Purifying Flame deals 2 damage to target attacking or blocking creature. You gain 2 life. A fire wielded by the righteous, it harms only those that seek to do harm.
Criteria: Certainly, another person with White and Fire. You might be onto something. Flavor: Yeah, dealing damage and gaining life, the flavor does work. Heals some and hurts others. Function:Impeccable Timing turned out to be an okay card in Limited. Gideon's Reproach was 4 damage. Given that gaining life is a pretty small upside, I think it turns out fine here.
Flesh Redistribution1BB
Instant (U)
As an additional cost to cast Flesh Redistribution, sacrifice a creature.
Create X 1/1 black Thrull creature tokens, where X is the sacrificed creature's toughness. "You'd be surprised by how inefficient and wasteful necromancy is."
—Jalgo Vert, breeder of the Order of the Ebon Hand
Criteria: Yes. Flavor: Love it. Flavor works great. Taking flesh from one, giving it to another. Function: It’s a bit strong with larger black creatures, which Black has been getting gradually tougher as of late. However, I think it’s relatively contained, and the three mana keeps it in check. Excellent work.
Quick Draw1W
Instant (C)
Untap target creature. It gets +2/+0 and gains first strike until end of turn. Aiming well only matters if you first actually have the time to hit.
I haven’t hung around here much lately, but what intrigued me to participate originally, and later host, was the ease of participation. The contest is laid back, the themes are generally fun, and it’s quick to submit an entry. Please don’t ever change any of that. 👍🏼
@kjsharp, I think you’re right about asking for more Top 3’s. Fortunately while I was hosting it was rarely an issue. A Top 3 is really one of the easiest points to get, so it surprises me people haven’t submit more. That being said, I do believe that sometimes deadlines can be missed when real life kicks in, and I would feel absolutely horrible if the best design didn’t advance because they simply missed a Top 3.
If the CCL taught me anything, it’s that it’s really a contest with yourself — it’s actually a mastery of timing. To help with this, later rounds I directly messaged participants to remind them they got in and get them to post. (I don’t know, maybe that served those months well?)
In any case… my goodness your posts here came off quite combative. I think it’s great getting new blood, and new ideas, but can you turn some of your passion into a more friendly manner next time? If people are being belligerent this will only turn others away and have the opposite effect: less participation.
As long as the environment remains positive and courteous around here (we are human, after all, people make mistakes) I will try to participate. But if things turn sour, I’m not going to stick around.

Wrath of Progress2R
Instant (U)
Wrath of Progress deals X damage to target creature and its controller, where X is equal to the number of +1/+1 counters on that creature. The shamans of the Muragandan jungles knew full well how to contain the alarmingly growing beasts, but only after they accidentally lost some of their own talents.
