again, the problem aint the companion mechanic in itself
the problem is the powerlevel of certain cards

when oko was printed, no one said "ban all planeswalkers"

yes companions are extra cards, but if u make them more fair due to the deck ristrictions they give and increase their mana cost, it would be fine
what if lurrus would have costet 6 mana instead of 3 with the rest being all the same, would we still have this discussion ?

i wonder about the winota ban.
do i understand it right, she is banned because to many play her ? popularity shouldnt be a reason for ban in my opinion. if the deck would be problematic with a high win rate, okay, but because she gets played to much ???

and on social media people complain to much about "how fail of an ability companion is". i think the point of view from the community is wrong here. the problem is not companion on its own, but the ability these companion cards have. some are just to powerful for a 100% guarantied card in your "hand", especially zirda. which is why i understand the lurrus and zirda ban. but the problem is not the mechanic. the mechanic is actually totally fine and it gives constructed a little commander touch. and in commander we dont have this discussion besides a few expectations. if every constructet deck could run a companion, that is not to powerful, the ability would be totally fine. imagine cards like thieving otter having companion (lets say with lurrus restriction), would it than be overpowered or just ok to good ? so while i think lurrus design was a mistake, i dont think companion in itself was a mistake. it is actually a new interesting mechanic, and one of the fewer creative mechanics in recent years

Infernal Reckoning i wonder if this was a teaser and that we will start here or if this was just a random demon in the artwork

i wish every now and than they would still make tribal cards. like 1-5 per set and only if the flavor fits and these cards should really be very narrow on the tribal.
for example Knights' Charge from the brawl decks could have been one

while i think the idea is nice, i wonder how long this "premium for cash" strategy will work
not talking about how unreasonable 30$ for 5 cards is (i mean fetchlands are 400$), but why couldnt those cards be hidden in boxes, like 1 land every 3 boxes.

they are, after all, just basics. and cards dont feel that great anymore, if they now only show "i got to much money to spend". i mean, while i could pay for them, it doesnt feel the same as if i would open a masterpiece in a box.
i remember times, when collecting was a thing, when you were happy to open a booster and got cards, you didnt have yet. now they they print so much product, that you cant collect anymore (and the funny thing is, that they make "collectors booster", what a joke).
opening these in boxes every now and than, would make them more special and would most likely incentevise people to buy more boxes.

i mean, come on, 30$ for basics ? this product is mass producable and cheap. these products become a scam more and more. i wonder if they still sell as well as the 1st secret lairs

dont get why they made shark a type... why is a shark no fish in the magic world ?
i gues its due to flavor or so, but ... was that really necessary ?

after i saw this card and this artwork i thought "what happened to magic?"
i am usually not that kind of guy, being all nostalgic, but to me making a cat dinosaur feels so lazy and uncreative, as if wizards isnt even trying anymore.
just randomly smash creature types together and all the old lore with goblins, elves and angels doesnt matter anymore. no, nowadays we get angel, horror, eldrazi, warlock, single mom creature types.

its not that i cry about "in the past everything was better", it is just that i feel this is lazy work. cant really discripe it, but this is making me lose interest in magic. in the past cards were designed clear and distinctive. (at least to me). now they print out every trash they can imagine and want us to be hyped and pay over the top prices for colored paper. i feel more like "this aitn worth it anymore", which is sad, cause i actually really like the game.

... what one trash card can "trigger"
I would argue it takes more creativity to make up something like cat dinosaurs than using tired old fantasy tropes such as goblins, elves and angels.

depends on how u view it, sure wizards didnt invent elves or goblins, but they were originally constructed out of imagination, a creative process. and being able to fill them with life and lore again and again is the real challenge and it seems wizards cant do this anymore.
what i think wizards does nowadays is. spin wheels with creature types and mix whatever comes up (like goat, hydra). that doesnt take creativity (ok creating the method does, but the rest is an easy running engine). they could come up with the new species like they did with the azra in battlebond. that would be more destinctiv than cat-dinosaurs.
i also think that the distinctiveness or elves being green, goblins being red gave the game more character than this, "now every color can be everything and have everything".

wow, thats powerful for an uncommon
i think in older days this could easy been a rare, even if it were a rare today, i doubt many would have complained. wouldnt have been expansive, but still playable.

hmm, you could easily swap artworks between crystals and it wouldnt be much of a differenz
for example zagoth crystal art could also be switched with indatha crystal art

When I have a creature with +1/+1 counters and I want to play a card with mutate and decide to put it on top of the creature with the counters, what happens to the counters ?

will they pump up the top creature ?
