Most of the ones using card art are things that don't have much in the way of decent fan art (Myr and Kithkin especially). Hopefully between the frame and the different coloured sleeves there won't be any confusion. I also will not miss a chance to use one of my favorite Kev Walker arts
Grey Merchant of Asphodel Gary is the kind of guy you can depend on to turn a game around. His ETB trigger is strong (especially if you've curved into him) and his fat butt is exactly the right size for solid defensive play. If you can build areusableflickerengine, he'll easily win you the game. That said, the reason he's not sitting at 5 stars is because you really do have to build your deck around him to unlock his full value, and he's certainly not a good splash option. Archetypes: Black Control, Flicker.
Since the cube's finally starting to come together, I took some time today to whip up tokens. If anybody wants to use these, be my guest. Most of the art is serious but a few are less so. Artist credit is included so don't ban me!
Getting the Eldrazi Spawn's borders to look right took waaaay longer than I'd like to admit, but at least now I know a bit more about the guts of MSE files!
E: aaaand the eldrazi's corners aren't rounded. NOPE NOT FIXING THAT TODAY NUH UH
Protection is certainly not a reason to exclude them or not give an accurate evaluation. It's a strong ability, but the disparity between when it's "on" and when it's "off" leads some people to avoid using them. Anybody considering using any card on this list in their cube will have to make a card by card evaluation for them self, so leave it up to the reader.
I'm in the camp that avoids playing protection creatures unfortunately. Erg Raiders is a card I skipped over for no good reason, and actually does a lot of what I want (eats bears and smaller (57% of my creatures), doesn't go in decks that aren't aggro). When I eventually go up to 400 I'll give the card more thought.
I'm pretty unimpressed with Spiteful and the Anurid's drawback is mattering much more than I first thought it would. Cards I'm considering (crazy ideas to serious contenders) are:
I feel like the Interloper is the next best option, but if I were comfortable with Un-cards, I'd totally run the bile. Do people find 5 aggro 2drops is sufficient in black, or would you run more?
I think the half's would more often be a consensus thing. It's harder to rate cards to half points but I just didn't think Lava Spike deserved a whole star
Abzan Beastmaster is super good in any midrange or ramp deck. It's done well in my testing.
If you need an aggro 3drop, have you considered Hungry Spriggan?
I'd play him before your Thoughtpicker Witch. I wanted to like that card but it was only ever cute for me rather than good.
It did have reach before the housemate unplugged my computer and I hadn't saved anything It's fixed now though, thanks.

EE: What's the upper limit for Zombie (Curse of Shallow Graves), Goblin Soldier (Goblin Trenches) Myr tokens (Shrine of Loyal Legions), Centaur (Centaur Glade), Elemental (Young Pyromancer) and Saproling (Jade Mage) you guys would suggest I make?
E: Intro is fine.
Quest for the gravelord is a card I really want to play but how do you guys ever find room for anything in black?
