Had 3 people compare mine with other peoples at the LGS, nobody could tell a difference even with the light test so I'm just going to assume that I'm fine.
I don't think that's a real problem. It's not that unlikely that somebody else at the table also has a deck that wants pelakka wurm (reanimator for example), or maybe somebody just hate drafts it. In a larger cube, it might not even get opened. Nobody is owed any card in the draft just because they're in a certain colour or I'd get Mulldrifter every draft
I have and I feel like the Stomping Ground is less blue than my Wooded Foothills, but I've got no real experience with this sort of thing and I could just be paranoid.
I don't think there's anything inherrently wrong with auto first picks. I've played it a bit and enjoy it and it can't really be "broken" if that's your concern.
The last time I got to use it, I named Barter in Blood in my UR control deck. The time before that I named Faithless Looting in UB Reanimator.
I do however notice that all the conspiracies tend to travel far (which is to say, I'm seeing them pick 4) when you're drafting with people who "don't get it". Make of that what you will.
I bought these cards off a local player who recently got bust for selling fake cards. While I don't think these look fake (their texture is fine), I don't have any other Tombs or Stomping Grounds to compare them against. Anybody want to offer a second opinion?
5 life is worth a lot if it means the difference between stabilizing the board at 5 life and 10 (one is easily in burn range, the other is pretty safe). Decking your opponent is great, but so's getting to reuse cards like Tutors, removal, any value ETB guy like shirekmaw while creating a lower % of lands in your deck.
Countering a bunch of cards in a mana positive way is nice, but I feel like there's a lot of cards that don't cost 2 that you'd also like to counter. Unlike Modern where SS sees decent play, Peasant has a much less condensed curve. I could see it being good against aggro 2drop.dec style decks but I'm also not impressed by sideboard cards.
What are thoughts on Heroic creatures? I saw Wavecrash Triton and thought the ability was decent. But whenever I think about Heroic as a mechanic, I feel like I'm rarely going to cast spells on my guys. Is this a mechanic that fit the set it was printed in, and not applicable to most cubes?
OK, lets break this guy down.
Vanilla: 2U for a 1/4. I wouldn't call this miserable but it's not exactly a pass either. Needs some serious upside to see play in a typical peasant environment.
Ability: Literally donothing without casting a spell (you're spending a whole card to turn this on) targeting your guy (please 2for1me, I've been a bad girl). What spells do you want to target a 1/4 with? Freezing a guy for a turn is nice but it's also not even a 1for1.
Cards that need setup, need to avoid removal (lest you get 2for1'd) and don't do a whole lot when they actually fire are not peasant cube cards. This guy was decent (I'd rate it a 2.5?) in triple Theros (I played a lot of THS THS THS and not much else in that block) and that format was warped around making auras and heroic work. It's apples and oranges. If you want a heroic guy, you could play...um....
Tethmos High Priest (probably the best heroic card in peasant, still needs a card to trigger and a cheap guy in the yard but atleast its body is relevant and not super overpriced)
Tormented Hero (actually this is the best heroic guy because the heroic text is gravy to the 2/1 for B body)
Vanguard of Brimaz (another decent body for the CMC but it's a restrictive manacost and needs some work to make guys)
They're all unplayable garbage in the average cube environment, and building around them leads to crappy un-fun games (see: Theros limited).
I don't think the games need to be unfun (I enjoyed THS THS THS, BNG THS THS on the other hand..). It's not impossible to create a fun limited environment with heroic guys. You just need to accept that you cannot push the powerlevel of the format to its maximum and still have these cards also be viable.
Boros Elite
Doomed Traveler (These two are both lower on my pick order than Dragon Hunter and Mardu Woe-Reaper)
Steppe Lynx
Knight of Glory (strong but I'm not a fan of protection)
Leonin Skyhunter (WW is a restrictive cost, I want as little of this as possible)
Suture Priest
Basilica Guards (zzzzz, there's plenty of interesting 3drops you could be playing like Flickerwisp or Kor Hookmaster or various online downshifts like Soltari Champion)
Mana Tithe
Delver of Secrets (sucks in most decks but I guess if you're pushing Ux spells it can be alright)
Augur of Bolas (see above^)
Brainstorm (not in peasant)
Force Spike (I hate this card, I'd rather play Daze and I'm not playing Daze)
Essence Scatter (do you really need two excludes?)
Negate (doesn't hit much often, it's a SB card and I'm not huge on SB cards)
Divination
Knight of Infamy (see Knight of Glory)
Wretched Anurid (turns any midrange deck into a strong aggro deck against you. This drawback is too steep in my view)
Vault Skirge (fine but it's not really a black card in my view)
Dead Reveler (lame Ghor-House Chainwalker)
Gravedigger (Entomber Exarch?)
Dark Ritual (not in peasant)
Duress (not my cup of tea)
Kird Ape (this is a RG card, don't view it any other way)
Plated Geopede (zzzz, better options in my view)
Slash Panter (yuck, also see Vault Skirge)
Shock (it's Shock and peasant has just about every burn spell in the game's history)
Krenko's Command (red sorcery Raise the Alarm doesn't excite me)
Elvish Visionary
Garruk's Companion (I like Kalonian Tusker better)
Mire/River Boa (not a fan of landwalk)
Crocanura
Imperiosaur (Blastoderm)
Vital Splicer
(wow you play a lot of gold cards, but they're not even??)
Deputy of Acquittals
Judge's Familiar
Skymark Rock
Dimir Charm (Psychatog, Baleful Strix??)
Zhur-Taa Druid (voted least likely manadork to be played on curve)
Sin Collector (unless you use the promo, then go forth and do God's Work)
Tithe Drinker (Lingering Souls, Maw of the Obzedat??)
Simic Charm
Urban Evolution (where's Trygon Predator, Fleetfeather Cockatrice or Horizon Chimera??)
Goblin Electromancer (no)
Spellheart Chimera (I asked an IRL friend with a peasant cube the other day if this had ever been good. He said no and laughed. Try Jilt or something)
Affinity Golems
Vulshock Morningstar
Karoos (over trilands for starters, no dual lands that ETB untapped like City of Brass or Gemstone Mine for aggro decks)
Welcome to the forums. I don't meant to diss your cube or anything, that's just my view on those cards.
Bloodthrone vampire basically requires you to sac something in order to get a relevant body (for a turn). 2/2's are literally twice as good as a 1/1 and they only cost 50% more mana. You're probably not going to have something worth saccing on turn 3 to get any real value out of the card if you played it on-curve either.
I'd put Unsummon half a point below whatever Snag ends up at (2.5 for snag, 2 for unsummon?)
The last time I got to use it, I named Barter in Blood in my UR control deck. The time before that I named Faithless Looting in UB Reanimator.

Or restocking lands in your deck if you're using them for something.
