Don't read too much into my swaps, I haven't played a game of magic in over a year and a game of cube in about 5 years lmao. If I were to actually purchase the cards to update my list (not done since Ixalan), I'd probably rework the whole list since I think a lot of big changes are overdue.
I was pretty skeptical about a cyberpunk Kamigawa (my first set), but I'm pretty sold on it now. Tradition vs progress is a cool way to have the new while still showing the influence of the old. I like the mechanical representation in the artifacts vs enchantments theme. It seems like WotC is really operating in a different space in the last year or two in terms of how much they're willing to push the envelope in Standard sets. "Legendary Artifact Creature - Jellyfish Equipment" is not something they would have done 5 years ago, if for no other reason than "it won't fit on the type line!". Not sure if that's just a consequence of needing to continue pushing the envelope 29 years into the game, or a new appreciation for the average player's tolerance to complexity thanks to Commander becoming the Big Format.
I think this set has (+ any future returns) could go a long way towards filling out that mythical artifact deck, plus helping enchantress if that's your jam.
Life of Toshiro Umezawa - potential to generate a lot of value. There's 83 creatures in my cube with 1 toughness (not counting tokens), + this can be used after combat on the first turn to trade up a creature.
Go-Shintai of Shared Purpose - Who knows what will get spoiled but this is a potentially strong ability if a Shrine deck ever became a thing.
The Modern Age is interesting for sure if you're a Renaminator aficionado.
Interesting takes on peasant lists. A lot of ads too lol.
As somebody who doesn't get to play with my cube much these days, it has got me thinking about the oppressiveness of tokens, sweepers and free 2for1's vs aggro strats.
I think my list and a lot of others here leans more aggro on purpose than more typical peasant lists you see out there. But perhaps I should be doing more than iust supporting lots of aggro cards and instead consider axing high value road blocks like Sea Gate Oracle.
Yeah i axed Curse of Predation (and Curse of Shallow Graves) in like 2015 for being too strong. I like the format better when there aren't many uninteractive game warping bombs. There's a certainlu more effective enchantment/artifact removal in the format today so perhaps it's time to revisit those cards (and Loxodon Warhammer and Grafted Wargear).
I seem to recall Bacchus2 saying he'd had a kid at some point, and it seemed like he wasn't playing magic much anymore. Life happens. He put in an incredible amount of work to get this project to the point that he did.
I will come back to this eventually. I saw that the site was likely to close down, but it looks like all is well for the time being. Given broken promises before, I will tentatively say I might get back to this in a month or so, I've got some stuff over the next few weeks, and hopefully can get back into it after that.
RIP Cube Tutor. Ben's right that the site has left a legacy and you can clearly see it's influence in Cube Cobra.
I personally stopped updating my CT list about a year ago and moved to CC but it's still been a pillar of the cube community since its inception. I was always a bit envious of the old-timers getting around with 3-digit cube ID's.
On the subject of Morbid Opportunist, is it crazy to consider cutting Liliana's Devotee for him? After several MID drafts, I'd really like to find room. I'm supporting a decent sacrifice theme, tokens, and even persist combo. That's not to mention regular old fair Magic with combat and removal. It seems like he can really grind out the card advantage. I'm thinking either Devotee or Legion Vanguard, but I haven't gotten any reps in with that guy yet.
I think that's a pretty sensible swap. Drawing cards for free does seem better than making a 2/2 for 1B. Which is a shame because I really like Devotee as an aristocrats fodder engine. Perhaps Opportunist digs up fodder too and it's not that different.
Goblin Motivator > Rabbit Battery
Vermin Gorger > Dockside Chef
Goblin Traprunner > Twinshot Sniper - Coinflips are a little silly, don't want to cut a spell for Twinshot since spells matter is a thing in UR.
Drownyard Behemoth > Waker of Waves - overdue, thanks for the reminder rancoredmalone
Curse of Chains > The Modern Age - we don't really need more removal and this is the worst in the cube as well.
Parcelbeast > Colossal Skyturtle - It's whatever
Plaguecrafter > Gravelighter
Spare Supplies > High-Speed Hoverbike - zoom zoom lol
Rhythm of the Wild > Invigorating Hot Spring
Filigree Familiar > Containment Construct - Filligree Familiar is filler, Construct is niche but interesting.

Touch the Spirit Realm is pretty sweet and Reinforced Ronin is great.

Anybody got opinions on this?

Calibretto - Thanks for sorting this out again. Legend.
(technically it's the top 372 but the extra 12 cards were as popular as the 351st card so I figure it's less arbirtrary this way)
Surprised to see the following cards in the top 360. I thought these fell off the powerlevel cliff years ago:
Master Splicer
Gray Merchant of Asphodel
Ghor-Clan Rampager
Mortarpod
Spider Spawning (I cut it years ago feeling that the support wasn't good enough. Are we there yet?)
How good is:
Slaughter the Strong
Waker of Waves (compared to Phyrexian Ingester)
Sling-Gang Lieutenant compared to Marsh Flitter
Bastion of Remembrance (better than Zulaport Cutthroat?)
Rimrock Knight
Tibalt, Rakish Instigator
Frilled Mystic
Tatyova, Benthic Druid
Sphinx of the Guildpact
Surprised these cards are not as popular
Gush
Consul's Lieutenant
Soltari Champion
Imperial Recruiter (this is a <$10 card now! surely it's not budget that's keeping this guy down in 2021)
Gaea's Anthem (just a wrong-colour thing?)
Fire Covenant
Goblin Trenches
TOP 10 ANIME BETRAYALS
