Are you sure it works that way? I always thought it was more like control magic, in that if it's put into play (not cast), the object the aura enchants is chosen as it ETB. I.E. as Animate Dead enters the battlefield, a creature card in a graveyard is selected as the enchanted object and put into play, then the "When Animate Dead is on the battlefield, if it's on the battlefield ..." trigger goes on the stack.
1) What sets were printed in Japanese, is there an easy list somewhere?
I believe everything from 4thed onwards has been printed in Japanese so basically just not Alpha, Beta, Unlimited, Revised, Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends.
2) Can anyone give me an idea of what prices are like in Japan? Do cards fall into a similar price range even after the currency conversion? Or is there secondary market/value system just completely different from the American one.
Prices are a bit more expensive than US due to increased cost of packs and for chase cards in Japanese, due to increased demand.
As long as their all sleeve playable, I'd offer closer to US$200 and wouldn't clean them. The ink job is so bad on most of them that there will still be a lot of sharpie on the cards even after cleaning so it'll probably just look worse.
If you price all of the cards as heavily played and are upfront about the inking they still should be pretty easy to move. No real value to collectors but for someone who's just looking to play in the next Legacy tourney, they'll have appeal.
This might seem kinda weird, but how big are KMC matte Blacks?
I'm ordering some cards, and thinking of getting 100 for my EDH deck, but I like my sleees to have a fair amount of space over the card-top, so there's no risk of the card top getting damaged.
Are Matte Blacks worth getting?
I've use the Matte Blue and they are very good. The KMC Super Series last slightly better but are more slippery when new which can be quite a hassle for 100 card stacks
To be honest, I also think you're exaggerating the extent of repetition. Of course, the same questions do come up time and time again, but lots of different variations appear, requiring different responses, and completely original questions (at least, ones I've never dealt with) still surface regularly.
Yeah, definitely a bit of unhelpful hyperbole on my part, sorry. It's still a problem for me, but I've been reminded a million times that I shouldn't exaggerate
Stickies are absolutely not the answer for all of the reasons mentioned. I honestly don't have any reasonable ideas, barely even any unworkable ideas. I'm fishing for ideas more than anything.
Would a firmer mod presence help? I kinda think it'd just serve to drive new players away after they'd been infracted for their first 2 questions and we'd still get all of the chaff we get now.
Would a more lenient mod presence help, basically to allow forumers to call out posters who clearly should've spent 30 seconds searching? This approach would likely bring out both the flamers and the trolls.
Would some more sub-forums help? This looks like stickies 2.0 in that no one that matters would look in the right places.
There are definitely still a lot of interesting new questions, possibly even more than there once were. It just feels like I now have to read through a lot more chaff before I get to anything interesting.
I just wanted to know if it's just my own neurosis or if others too feel that the Magic Rulings forum has become so clogged with the same 4 or 5 questions that it's getting hard to find any of the interesting questions and explanations?
It seems to me that around 9/10 questions could be covered by "I don't know how protection works", "I can't read cards properly", "M10 changes", "look at the oracle wording or card specific rulings on Gatherer" and "Mimic Vat".
It's entirely possible (likely even) that I'm just getting old and jaded but I used to really enjoy the rulings forum and I find now that it just makes me want to post snarky comments. I sadly don't have a solution as my only thought was to create stickies for each of the common Q's but it sounds like that's been tried before and the type of people who ask those easily found questions are the same type of people who don't read stickies.
Sorry for my long winded rant but to sum up, my real questions are:
a) Is there a problem?
b) If so, how can it be fixed?
(because it destroys critters before enchantments)
Please ignore this bit of my post. It's both wrong and has caused confusion. As Archonoid has pointed out, Austere Command destroys things in two separate actions so it destroys the aura and then the bear, whereas Akroma's Vengeance tries to destroys everything in one go so the bear is still indestructible when it tries to destroy everything.
Ok thank you so much everyone, this ruling was in question for a few plays actually like the enchantment indestructibility and such, but I understand now and thank you
There are situations where Indestructibility would behave differently. You process actions on cards in the order written, so Austere Command choosing enchantments and creatures CMC 3 or less would destroy a Runeclaw Bears enchanted with Indestructibility while Akroma's Vengeance would not (because it destroys critters before enchantments)
If by bulk you mean at least ~$5 each, then yes (for Laboratory, Kamahl, and Arcanis). $1-2 on the Wellwisher and Heedless One, as well.
Vowels has it pretty much right IMO. They're all EDH playable so foreign + foil makes them desirable. With the right buyer you can probably get a bit more.
I have no idea on the misprint, Tha Gunslinga is the man to ask
Edit: Snarth'd
Nice catch! That makes it have unique art too for extra awesomesauce.

While that's true, it's not really all that surprising that they chose not to honor a glitch in their web site that you chose to exploit.
My feeling is this: Suck it up, you lost nothing and the store didn't do anything dodgy.

@klug: Loving the guru Dark Ritual :). Truly excellent alter.

The bit above is correct. What a wise man this poster is, however I'd like to respond to the fool who added this awful explanation ..
