Wight being the probably the worst of these; but in Standard Marshal did a ton of work for me.
Well at least Wight has a token drawback. The others are BB. Voidwalker is way overpushed for my liking though.
Yeah, Voidwalker is word soup. I just meant it doesn't surprise me anymore. At least this still has the can't block clause, even though it's obfuscated by the Blitz ability. He can only block when cast.
So now you can just make a 3/2 for 2 with upside in black? Why do they always push things by pushing the stats? Quit yer damn creature creep, ya bastards. I can accept it in green, but in black?? I'm disappointed in you, wizards.
Ognis is one of Ziatora's first captain, given the coveted gift of the latter's green flame. While her position on the front lines seems to defy this rank, among the Riveteers this is a sign of strength and solidarity.
It's almost bridging the gap between the OG Lightning Angel and the New School Mantis Rider. I really like it. If you need life gain to survive against another aggro deck, this can take more punishment than Adult Gold Dragon. That 1 toughness reduces what kills it by a lot.
So basically "at the beginning of your upkeep, quasi-scry 1". Not terrible, but also not great. Meh. Sultai Ascendancy let you surveil 2 (before they called it surveil).
If it's a creature or planeswalker you can put it into your hand. So its also quasi-card draw.
This makes most Gideon planeswalkers pretty powerful. Gideon, Ally of Zendikar’s +1 changes him into a 10/10 indestructible because his base power and toughness becomes 5/5 and the equipment gives him another +5/+5 from his 5 loyalty counters. Gideon Blackblade would be similarly a 10/10 by the time he could attack since he’ll be at 6 loyalty by the time he loses summoning sickness. Gideon, Battle-Forged (the flip side of Kytheon, Hero of Akros) is interesting since you could use his +1 to make himself indestructible until your next turn. More or less blanking a lot of sorcery speed removal.
Other interesting planeswalkers of note: The Royal Scions could +1 to give themselves +2/+0 first strike and trample and the fact that they’d be at 7 loyalty by the time they could attack makes them a 9/7 first strike trampler. Elspeth, Knight-Errant can giver herself +3/+3 and flying. Grand Master of Flowers becomes a 14/14 indestructible flier if you get him to 7 loyalty. Ajani, Mentor of Heroes can be a 18/18 by the time he attacks if he’s equipped the turn he comes into play and +1s on himself for three +1/+1 counters and does the same the next turn, since the sword counts any kind of counters. Kaya the Inexorable becomes impossible to kill, since she can +1 to put Ghostform counters on herself (and also pumping herself since it the ghostform counter is a counter that adds to the sword’s bonus) Lukka, Coppercoat Outcast can -2 to Polymorph himself. Sarkhan the Mad’s +0 ability no longer removes loyalty, which means he can draw a card for free every turn and will live through the process provided you don’t reveal anything that costs more than 6 mana.
I approve of all these connive cards in white. It seems like a cool way to get some more card draw into the color. Attach it to creatures and have it manipulate counters. I like it.
Could be good in Monogreen for the time being, as it can crew Esika's Chariot solo, while also guaranteeing you hit that 4th land drop to cast Chariot.
So lemme get this straight - the human Toluz has a vampire for a daughter, while Anhelo the vampire's daughter is human. Dunno how vampirism distribution works in New Capenna now.
I think you have to pass the MVamps exam. Or rather, Toluz's daughter must have been bitten later, while maybe Anhelo's daughter was from before they became a vampire? Or the story has plot holes, who knows.
I'm all for creatures like this, but I'm cautious about a creature with these abilities and this mana cost in these colors being effective. I'm not sure how good a 4/2 without evasion is at attacking on turn 4 in a usually non-aggressive combination of colors.
Yes, this is correct. As per the Comprehensive Rules:
CR 120.6. Damage marked on a creature remains until the cleanup step, even if that permanent stops being a creature. If the total damage marked on a creature is greater than or equal to its toughness, that creature has been dealt lethal damage and is destroyed as a state-based action (see rule 704). All damage marked on a permanent is removed when it regenerates (see rule 701.15, “Regenerate”) and during the cleanup step (see rule 514.2).
So Lighting Bolt would mark Elspeth with 3 damage. Then you move the equipment to a creature. Now, you re-equip Elspeth, she would still have 3 damage marked on her. If for instance, she had 5 loyalty and was blocked a 2/X, she would have taken lethal damage and die.
The only ways to remove marked damage is through regeneration or the cleanup step. Note that removing them from play, by blinking them for instance, would return them without damage because they are considered new instances of that object.

It's been that way for a few years now:
Wight being the probably the worst of these; but in Standard Marshal did a ton of work for me.
Yeah, I was expecting more like a 3/8 or something. For a boulder, he's got a tiny butt.
So there is Reservoir Kraken and Shakedown Heavy. Is there a cycle—maybe a pseudocycle—of punisher creatures?
If it's a creature or planeswalker you can put it into your hand. So its also quasi-card draw.
My Isshin, Two Heavens as One deck already plays Mark of Asylum and Light of Sanction to make Powerstone Minefield, Caltrops, Blasphemous Act, Star of Extinction, and Hour of Devastation one-sided (three-sided?) board wipes. Now with Sarkhan the Mad equipped, his draw doesn't hurt him anymore.
So the options are (non-WUBRG):
In Simic, what we need to do is:
T1: Forest, Jaspera Sentinel.
T2: Island, Prosperous Innkeeper
T3: Dreamroot Cascade, Double Major -> Topiary Stomper
T4: Esika's Chariot.
And now we can copy Topiary Stompers with chariot.
And after the two Stompers come into play on T3 we already have 5 lands. If we drop one more and copy a Stomper we have 'em all online.
