I love Gyome and that good name is a play on Guillaume. He makes me think of a French master chef. Also the Promise of Power your demon summoner is cool.

Are we not going to get any Mage Hunter cards? I want some Starship Trooper / Chronicles of Riddick monsters.

Against token decks this is hilarious, too.

Opp: Avenger of Zendikar. I have 13 lands.
Me: Elimination Ritual. I have 13 mana floating.

It also kinda turns your own pests into pseudo-Eldrazi Scions.

Pilgrim of the Ages is reminiscent of Eternal Dragon. Back when white could have cool toys.

  • posted a message on [STX] Jeux Video previews — 5 blue cards including Dream Strix
These are previews from Jeux Video.

    Esoteric Subtraction 1U
    Common
    Instant

Target creature gets -4/-0 until end of turn.

    Learn

"The class didn't learn much that day."

    Burrog Scrambler 1U
    Common
    Creature — Frog Wizard

    Flash

When Burrog Scrambler enters the battlefield, target creature an opponent controls gets -1/-0 until end of turn.

Students looking for river grasses in Doradur quickly find themselves soaking wet and dark.

    2/1

    Unstable Transformation 1U
    Uncommon
    Sorcery — Lesson

Until end of turn, target nonland permanent loses all of its abilities and becomes, your choice of a Blue Frog creature with base power and toughness 1/1, or a Blue Octopus creature with base power and toughness 4/4.

"For sun's sake, I just want a crab!"

    Test of Skill 1U
    Uncommon
    Instant

Counter a target instant or sorcery spell. Search its controller's graveyard, hand, and library for any number of cards with the same name as that spell and exile them. Then that player shuffles, then draws a card for each card exiled from their hand this way.

    Dream Strix 2U
    Rare
    Creature — Bird Illusion

    Flying

When Dream Strix becomes the target of a spell, sacrifice it.

    When Dream Strix dies, learn.

    3/2

Test of Skill seems really good, to me. Countering an Ultimatum will feel really good. Also, I want more humanoid Frogs, please.

    "Spined Drake" GU

    Creature — Drake

    Flying, deathtouch

While they are learning to fly, young drakes have a tendency to accidentally pierce cliff trees and unsuspecting students.

    1/1

Baleful Strix (which I was hoping we'd get on Strixhaven XD) but without the best part.

I mean, it's certainly good. Surprised it's not a sorcery. I'm not sure if it has the same draw to it as growth spiral did, being that it's 2 mana vs 4 mana, but I would probably play this card in a variety of formats.

Yeah it loses efficiency, but I will definitely try subbing out other draw 2 for 4 variants for it. Won't know until I try.

This is a preview from Cedric Phillips.

    Eureka Moment 2GU
    Common
    Instant

Draw two cards. You may put a land card from your hand onto the battlefield.

"At first, the equations were simply numbers. But in those numbers I saw a story, and in that story I saw a pattern, and suddenly it all fit together!"

Growth Spiral + 1 card draw = Growth Twister?

    Ecological Appreciation X2G
    Mythic
    Sorcery

Search your library and graveyard for up to four creature cards with different names that each have mana value X or less and reveal them. An opponent chooses two of those cards. Shuffle the chosen cards into your library and put the rest onto the battlefield. Exile Ecological Appreciation.

It’s true, this card is great in Magic Christmas-land.

Isn't Arena also about Christmas land? That's why I'm historic they always have 3 BTE and in Standard they always have two Beast + Great Henge? Christmasland is what you aim for.

    Sorry but its crap.

Green already has an over abundance of efficient ramp. It didnt need inefficient ways to ramp other people too.

This slots easily into Golgari Dream Devourer decks. Casting it for four mana will be great. I already play a high land count, because turn 2 Dream Devourer into turn 3 Azusa, Lost but Seeking means I can still foretell after dropping Azusa.

    T1: Zagoth Triome.
    T2: Land, Dream Devourer
T3: Land, Azusa, Lost but Seeking, Land, Land, foretell Verdant Mastery, end turn at 6 lands.
T4: Play the other 3 lands and you have 9 mana minimum. Emergent Ultimatum?

t3 only 5 land, 3+2 for the additional land not 6

i can also cast genesis on turn 4

    t1 land
t2 land willow(i hope we get something better than this), maybe something that add any color
t3 magma opus discard and outburst discard, or just two magma or two outburst if i'm lucky
t4 now i have 4 land + willow and two treasure any color, i cast lorehold dragon that search and cast genesis

One thing to note about your line with Genesis Ultimatum. It looks like at a bare minimum you're expecting to have 8 non-permanents plus Ultimatums in your deck. Make sure you don't put too many spells, because you'll give yourself less potent Ultimatums.

That isn't really a problem with Emergent decks so long as you have a nice suite of gets in the deck.

Awesome. Now we can do it for Sultai, too! How fun?!

    EDIT: Fixed math.

Really hesitant about using this in EDH, actually.

This is normally the sort of big and splashy X spell that I love casting as it more than likely leaves me with a counter in hand and the mana to use it.

Most of my spellslinger decks are fairly light on actual win-cons, however, and the thought of accidentally exiling 2+ of them with a big X... the thought isn’t pleasant.

That just means X has to be 40+. Gaping ALWAYS RED! ALWAYS RED!

Poor little Killian Malfoy. I dig the way the story unfolds in the cards. This card name is just such a kick in the self worth.
Don't really see why the removal spell was rare tbh.

They often do that with unconditional 3-5 mana removal + upside that they think they've made efficiently: Murderous Rider, Never // Return, Eat to Extinction, Gild, Vraska's Contempt, etc..

You might think it's strange with Heartless Act and Go for the Throat at uncommon and cards like Blood Curdle and Feed the Swarm at common, but it's pretty normal.

Did you notice how none of the commons you cite remove planeswalkers, but almost all of the rares do?

They literally printed a 4 mana exile target creature or planeswalker in the last set with Feed the Serpent. So the ability here is bumping the card from common to rare, and tbh you've got to be pretty desperate to use that ability, I don't see that ability doing anything for the card in terms of making it constructed playable, and it will be mainly used as a Feed the Serpent in limited.

I think you've nailed it on the head, yourself. Desperation will result in this being cast cheaper. Opponent drops foretold Vorinclex and Ugin and I only have 2 mana open? I'm smashing the card as fast as possible.

In Historic Torrential Gearhulk kovesboth of these modes. I'm not sure it's as good as Sublime Epiphany in the Gearhulk deck but it's a fun toy to add to that she'll.

I'd probably have Epiphany instead, and there are good compelling arguments to go Dimir instead of Prismari in a Gearhulk shell.

I'm currently Azorious Gearhulk in Bo3 and love that deck to bits but am sorely tempted to add red for uncounterable Chandra so anything that giv s me the edge there is welcome. The fact that I can Gearhulk, Epiphany into a copy of Gearhulk and then cast this off the copy seems pretty good and having the treasure token is a fairly big deal to boot. Though I don't disagree that Dimir Geerhulk is a thing.

If you are Jeskai though you might as well run Inspired Ultimatum which is better than this.

It's a great card, no doubt, but Gearhulk doesn't see it.

Also, I feel like people are missing that cycling this for a Treasure helps you cast Gearhulk a turn earlier.
