    Field of ruin is in Theros Beyond Death.
    Unfortunately, everyone forgot!

    Theros Beyond Death isn't legal in Standard 2022. It rotates out in September. No one forgot, it just doesn't matter.

    Also, for black decks theres Lithoform Blight, which is good anyways, because it shuts down all of the man lands including Crawling Barrens, Faceless Haven, Den of the Bugbear, Cave of the Frost Dragon, Hall of Storm Giants, Hive of the Eye Tyrant, and Lair of the Hydra. It also replaces itself.

    I got it. After you buy your Moutain Dew and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, save 4 coins. Then flip them all at the same time. Heads = 1. Tails = 0.
    12 is represented as `1100` in binary. Read them from left to right, and if the first two are both 1's (i.e. heads) and the last two are not 0, "roll" again.. If you get four tails, flip again, because you cannot roll a 0.

    Handy chart for this not-at-all complex solution:

    T - T - T - T => "Roll again" (0)
    T - T - T - H => 1
    T - T - H - T => 2
    T - T - H - H => 3
    T - H - T - T => 4
    T - H - T - H => 5
    T - H - H - T => 6
    T - H - H - H => 7
    H - T - T - T => 8
    H - T - T - H => 9
    H - T - H - T => 10
    H - T - H - H => 11
    H - H - T - T => 12
    H - H - T - H => "Roll again" (13)
    H - H - H - T => "Roll again" (14)
    H - H - H - H => "Roll again" (15)

    There is only 75% chance that you will "roll" a number that represents 1 - 12, thusly only a 25% change to have to "re-roll".

    Easy!

    How bad is it that all I want to do with Asmodeus is Harmless Offering him to an opponent with no black mana?

    Pithing Needle him , almost as hilarious.

    Asmodeus is quite a stinker here, simply because Griselbrand does it so much better and more broken.

    I can play Asmmodeus in EDH, though. So that's a plus. I actually might have a home for him in my Hellbent deck. Being able to prevent myself from drawing while still having the option to get the cards later could come in handy.

    Well, Necrotic Ooze likes him I guess.
    So does Mairsil the Pretender.

    And another one: Platinum Emperion, which also is great in a monoblack deck with:

    I have a deck where he's the "Pseudo-commander". I work towards getting it out with Lightning Greaves, just so I can play all the other stuff.

    Is Iron Golem the first creature that blocks each combat if able? I don't recall seeing it anywhere before.

    It's been around since A/B/U, but it was on a creature as a static ability since Watchdog in Tempest, and as recently as Relentless Raptor in Rivals of Ixalan.

    Honestly, flash is quite close to not untapping alone, so I think this is very solid for draft.

    Yeah, with Frost Lynx:

    Your Turn 3: Frost Lynx,
    Opponent Turn 4: creature doesn't untap.
    Your turn 4: attack
    Opponent Turn 5: it untaps

    With Scion of Stygia:

    Opponent Turn 4: Cast Scion during their 1st main phase, tap their creature
    Your Turn 4: attack
    Opponent Turn 5: it untaps, if you rolled 10 - 20, it stays tapped

    I definitely imagined Displacer Beasts would at least be partially-black, if not purely black. Also, I suppose this is fine, but I kind of hoped it would be more of a blink effect. My initial idea for an EDH deck with AFR cards in it was going to be a 5-color Tiamat deck with nothing but D&D monsters and venture into the dungeon interactions, but a lot of the D&D creatures revealed so far have been limited fodder. It's going to be interesting to see what I can come up with. I was expecting around a 4 or 5 power deck with those themes in mind, but at this rate it will be a 2 or 3. Laughing I'll have to add super good tutors and things just to make it a 4.

    it's just me or is this terrible?

    I mean.... you drop this, it taps some dude, and itself, then, it remains tapped.....
    to be untapped on turn 5 at the earliest where a vanilla 3/5 will not likely be relevant anymore.

    if the entire ETB was a may, the card would be pretty good.
    as is.... damn......

    I mean, it's not like you're not going to be doing anything on turn four or five.

    And it's more of a control card. It's like a Crippling Chill or Code of Constraint, except the card you draw is a 0 mana 3/5.

    It's actually more of an aggro card. On the defensive, all this is doing is buying you time while dealing with nothing in the long run. In a game of parity or where you are on the offensive this is a game winner. It's same principle why Sleep is great in an aggro deck and terrible in a control deck. In blue especially you will tap down whatever they have that can block your flyers, then get free reign with your flyers for 2 turns, that is for sure a way to steal Limited games.

    I was thinking more along the lines of forcing them to add more to the board before a sweeper. I mean this survives Crippling Fear even if I choose another creature type to save something else.

    Just when you thought the typical 1/1 with deathtouch was annoying...notice how the first strike only happens during your turn, so no, it won't be killing Tarrasques anytime soon unless the opponent is at 1 life, still, this will be really good in Limited as a dungeon enabler or as the go-to guy to grab Equipments.
    </blockquote>

    The attack trigger on Tarrasques is not optional, so they cant attack you with Tarrasques if you got no other creatures than this but you can attack them...
    </blockquote>

    Tarrasque also doesn't have trample, so if this is up they won't want to attack you, either.

    Would be cool if she got a +1/+1 counter on 20 roll

    Or was smaller and had a lower CMC. All of the roll d20 cards so far are 3 - 5 and have a similary expensive activation cost. It'd be nice if she was down the turn before, so you could at least try to get value.

    Was you find a cursed idol too strong as an instant?

    It seems as though cards that have venture has an activated ability, have to be activated at sorcery speed. That's probably why it's a sorcery.
    Bar the Gate says otherwise.

    If you're looking for exceptions to rules, welcome to Magic: the Gathering. Your statement also doesn't disprove my statement that: "It seems as though cards that have venture has an activated ability, have to be activated at sorcery speed. That's probably why it's a sorcery." Showing me an instant—not a card with an activated ability—isn't an example of the opposite of what I said, and it'd doesn't necessarily negate that it still might be a reason as to why that's a sorcery. Blue tends to have better instants and sorceries than Green. It's also almost a guarantee that a counterspell will be in each Standard set that in same way showcases or enables the set mechanics. That's not a surprise. Bar the Gate being an instant says nothing to the contrary of what I said.
    By that logic, bringing up activated abilities in answer to a question about a sorcery made no sense to begin with.

    And in answer to the original question, You Find a Cursed Idol is weak at sorcery. It's the latest Return to Nature/Naturalize-with-another-mode card. There's no reason it couldn't have been an instant. And Bar the Door proves they haven't restricted venturing to sorcery speed alone.

    All it proves is that there is at least ONE exception. There are other possible reasons, too. That mode sissy makes a treasure. That could be part of it. Maybe blue specifically can get instant speed venture and green can't. That would be a reason. Maybe they don't want to subvert Return to Nature. That's be another reason. Maybe they figured green has enough strong venture support in limited. If that was only instant speed venture when the set was over it would be an EXCEPTION, not the rule. That's how exceptions work.
