I freaking LOVE this guy! 6/6 for 5 that's Hybrid Mana to boot? SICK! And no, it's not a "win-more" ability. You can survive a 6-point boot to the face and still make come backs (I win most of my games against my friends clinging to 1 life and it pisses them off to no end :D) but when you lose a land on top of that, it hurts.
As said by previous posters, it puts the pressure on the opponent forcing them to choose between their lands and their creatures. Stonewood Invocation just breaks this guy. To bad they didn't reprint Sneak Attack... some kind of haste for this guy and WHAM you are bent sideways.
I'd like to point out one thing that a lot of people are either forgetting or ingoring (one person did point this out before though) and that is that Seething Song is currently banned in Standard.
And the Harbinger + Nova Hunter is SICK! Drop the Harbinger turn one, turn two Smokeroller, turn three Nova Hunter, champion the Harbinger. When the Nova Hunter Bites it, the Harbinger comes back, and can go fetch ANOTHER Nova Hunter to the top of the deck, effectively setting up 10/2 tramplers attacking every other turn. The game ends pretty quickly when 10 trampling power comes rushing at you, and doesn't stop when it dies.
Cool, didn't see the harbinger... but still, I like mine better. T3 death unless you have a decent blocker or trick handy. And even then as long as at least 18 damage gets through you can just shock on your next turn in response to pact of negation's upkeep. At least I *think* you can respond to that. If not, then w/e it's still a disgusting combo.
Why hasn't anyone else posted how to break this guy yet?
*sigh*
Here goes.
T1: Mountain, Simian Spirit Guide, Smokeroller.
T2: Mountain, Tap Smokeroller and Champion him for the Nova Hunter.
T3: Mountain, Swing, Fatal Frenzy. Anyone without removal can pretty much kiss their ass goodbye.
EDIT: May as well pack pact of negation too just in case they try something janky.
Nichol Bolas trapped him inside that ivory mask then offered him up to the Madaran Rift. His ass is gone, along with almost every other immortal planeswalker save Bolas and Karn (who is AWOL atm)
Meh, thats not that great, since all they have to do is wait for you to discard your hand and then instant speed kill the poppet. So they basically got a like 5 for 1 trade.
That's all relevant to how the opponent has played their turns though. If they're tapped out, wtf they gonna do? Obviously it's a calculated risk; you don't go and do it just for the hell of it.
Am I the only one who sees just how broke Oblivion Crown + Jagged Poppet is?
T1: Swamp + Simian Spirit Guide (R), drop Rakdos Signet
T2: Mountain/Swamp (doesn't matter), drop Jagged Poppet
T3: Land, Enchant Poppet, discard Fiery Temper if there's a blocker, discard the rest of your hand to deal 6+ dmg and make them lose most if not all of their hand.
Why did WoTC wait so long to give Rakdos such good tools @- @
Once again, they hose one of my favorite character's cards ( *cough* Radha *cough* ) from the novels.
Way to go WoTC.... neat ability, as venser so far just kind of teleports around, but somehow I was expecting more. And WTF he's blue? I was really hoping for Black to finally gain an Artificer and have some synergy with artifacts but nooo....

Second, where is the elemental harbinger? I don't see it on the spoiler anywhere.

They're bringing back Legacy Weapon... time for some green artifact jank.
Legacy Weapon + Platinum Angel + Joiner Adept. Now if they'd just reprint Kodama's Reach for mana fix.

1) Leshrac was a plainswalker, unless we're working on the Jaya Ballard theory here...
2) He's dead
3) His actual title is "Walker of the Night" if you've read the books

I'm currently working on a R/B aggro/control deck that uses Dathi Slayer and other good R/B creatures + hand disruption. Haven't finalized the numbers or even which creatures are going in yet, but so far I'm thinking:
Hypnotic Specter, Shimian Specter, Dread Slag, Simian Spirit Guide, Delirium Skeins, etc...
unmorphing doesn't use the stack, but the rules state that it can only be done any time you can play an instant, which split-second denies.
