Mark rosewater summed this thread in an interview here. Power creep is bad for the game, but cool and varied things are. He described it as individual power scales for specific spell types [creature, instant, sorcery, enchantment, artifact, land and planeswalker]. over time one category will get a boost and the others will lose power.

...except that creatures have been the ones gaining power for the past six blocks.

  • posted a message on Accidentaly charged to canceled debit card
So about six months ago, I closed my checking account with bank of america, and I opened up a new account with a bank closer to where I live.

Just recently, however, my Xbox Live subscription auto-renewed, with my old debit card number, even though it should be canceled. The strange thing, though, is that it renewed successfully--which it shouldn't have.

Now a couple times prior to this, I accidentally tried to use the canceled card number, and it got rejected, as it should have been, but for some reason, it was accepted this time.

Should I call Microsoft or Bank of America about this? Is there something Bank of America can do to me to get the money that microsoft "charged" to my old account, or to punish my credit score?

    Thanks,
    Nom

    Decide what you believe in.

Clearly you believe in something, be it God or something similar. But until you know what you believe in, how are you to know what you are doing.

Make a list of things you do believe in. If you find a contradiction in them, figure out what you need to do to resolve it. And keep moving forward.

    Hey guys,

Sorry but I've had to request a replacement; I don't have the time to play wholeheartedly, and I think it makes the most sense to back out rather than play a game that I can't really contribute to properly.

Thanks for the good time, and I hope to see you in a game when I'm not quite so busy.

.....well, now I'm certain Sep and Arc are scum. :p And that WoD is town. Because Nom's always wrong.

    /sarcasm

    So true.

I'm not sure on Wolfwithabass yet, but I am liking magwald; he brought up an excellent point in a town manner.

The point I see in favor of Wolf is that the thing he did wrong is neither immediately obvious to be wrong, and he doesn't seem to think he's wrong about it, even after having it pointed out to him.

You're being awfully defensive for some pretty minor pressure.

It's also interesting that you bristle at being told how to play while also chiding atlseal about his wording.

    Unvote the random.

This post seems rather suspect to me. He's getting a nice stab in at wolf with a bass, while avoiding getting on the wagon and having a small enough point he can either use it as a jumping point to get on the wagon or easily back away from it depending on how the wagon plays out.

I don't agree with any of this. He's written plenty, there is no deflection, no word twisting. His post was concise, eloquent, and plainly written.Any player in this game 'could be scum'. By that logic, we should all be voting every other player. The way his post read to me is that he no longer considers his initial vote to be completely justified, so he unvoted, but will be keeping his eye on arcadic.I think it's quite clear he was using it to support his point, which is certainly valid. Most players will just post less if real life interferes, with maybe a "sorry rl is interfering" post if it gets out of hand. Sure, it's not the most concrete point (not as good as his earlier one, imo) but the fact that you felt the need to pre-emptively explain posting less is suspect.

I totally support pressure on Sepiriel.

    Vote Sepiriel.

I don't like the tone of this post. I'm not sure what it is; if anyone can read it and tell me why I don't like it, I would be very grateful. It might be the way the attacks are phrased or something; Axelrod's complaints sounded legit, but WoD's just aren't ringing true to me.

Also, I think Seperiel has been quite earnest and expressive. Pretty much town as I see it. Arcadic has been the opposite, but I also think he's town, simply from the calm, thoughtful response.

And it's not an operation, but I like the fundamental theorem of finitely generated abelian groups (mostly because it's name is really long).
If it really has to be an operation, I would go with matrix multiplication (But I do so under opposition).

Also, I'm not in any games at the moment.

To keep them from doing this, announce your beginning of combat step. If they tap it then, all good, and they don't get magic forewarning of what your attacks are. If they don't, then you get free reign, as they missed their chance.

I still don't see what this has to do with mafia. He might be lying scum in the real world, or he might not--I really have no idea. He might have ripped a few people out of their cards--then don't let him trade. But I see no reason he shouldn't be let to play mafia on this site for non-mafia related reasons.

    Quote from Azrael »
The sticking point was that none of us recent activities, on their own, would be sufficient to support a mafia ban. So to some extent, this action is based upon his prior activity and is a preemptive measure to prevent further abuse. That's a somewhat troubling precedent, but I think an exception could stand to be made in this case.

I think this post demonstrates exactly why Nakamura should not recieve a mafia ban:

    Quote from Blacklist »
A player who has been blacklisted may no longer play in any mafia games. The blacklist is reserved for players who seriously compromise the health of games. Blacklisted players can appeal to the mafia council if they wish to have their name removed from the list.

It's rather ex post facto to ban him from mafia for being a ripper. You admit, on your own, that his mafia actions are insufficient to blacklist him, yet you have decided to do so based on unrelated activities--ones for which we cannot even say for sure he is guilty.

In the end it is up to the council, but in this case, I feel the council has overstepped it's authority--you aren't moderators, and banning players for non-mafia offenses is not a power the council should have. If I were a murderer or a drug dealer in the past, I don't think any of you would be calling for my blacklist. Yet for some reason the crime of "ripping" is judged to render Nakamura unworthy of playing mafia.

So at the bottom of all my posts some weird message keeps showing up. It is, of course, on this post too. How do I get rid of it?
