What about a ninjutsu type ability? Replacing an action that the creature is taking in a specific state with assembling a contraption. A replacement effect. It feels like trodden ground and will probably end with the same arguments.
It seems to me for creatures to assemble something and stay within the "spirit of the challenge", Assemble would have to become a meaningful vocabulary word like attack or block or tap and not just a mechanic. It will have to be a state that can be referenced. But what causes this state and what does it do?
Remove the Processor mechanic. My juicer is more entertaining.
Add a number to Ingest or make it equal to power. Want to inspire terror in someone in a game of Magic? Let them watch not one, but multiple cards of their beloved deck disappear all at once.
Remove Converge. What's the point? "Over costed" variants of spells? Color me unimpressed.
Awaken? This is tacked onto such dull effects, often ones that have no real benefit of you kicking your lands awake.
I really hate to have a set count as a miss because most of it's mechanics are for limited. I will have to agree with the dissenters of this set. This is a watered down ROE without all the awe-inspiring monsters, just a bunch of lazy lions you must whip through the flaming hoops to get a good show.
A creatureless build seems more reasonable. Using an existing shell of discard decks could see you using noetic scales to control the board and winning. However, turn 4 or 5 seems quite late to deal with aggro decks. Perhaps some old rituals could aid you in dropping it earlier.
Some cards I could see making this work:
As a budget casual player, I hate seeing my decent commons and uncommons becoming the talk of the set. This will raise their price and general availability causing me to have to pay $2 apiece instead of for the whole playset. Sphinx's Tutelage for reference.
This really sucks as a guy on such a constrained budget.
I like the idea of the Overseer! Seeing as it is horribly priced at 10+ apiece, I will have to pass on them. Vault skirge is a definite add over Stinger! Thanks!
Master of Etherium is also out of my budget and I like it a lot less, despite being in color. Not sure why...
Frogmite may make it into the deck as a way to build pressure on an already favorable board to help push damage through and as an Ensoul target.
Galvanic Blast will be replacing bolt. I thought about it more and agree that the number of artifacts does indeed support it as well as thoughtcast.
Thanks for the input!
I'm trying to get together an a build involving artifacts and the cheap spells that benefit from having so many out. I am lookinflg to keep it aggro or midrange (the latter may be best).
I am looking for input on what to add or take out. Currently it only has 58 cards and the numbers are just a starting point.
I am wondering if Galvanic Blast would be better than Bolts and what I can add to draw more cards to better my chances of pulling an Ensoul or another relevant spell that can push my damage over the threshold. Thoughtcast came to mind, but still seems slower than I'd like. Maybe I am underestimating it?
This is not an affinity deck. Please keep this in mind if you make suggestions!
I believe there was an add last post, but without explanation I'm going to leapfrog it until pokerkingdave gets back and put in 3 Boseiju, Who Shelters All. This deck will NEED Jokulhaups to resolve. Boseiju speaks for itself in that capacity and three guarantees we see one.
Any of you played Dragon Ball Xenoverse yet? I've been binging on it pretty hard for the last month or so, such an awesome game. Currently rocking a level 89 male Saiyan with:
Supers:
Perfect Shot
Kamehameha x10
Maximum Charge
Galick Beam Cannon
Evasive Skill:
Super Explosive Wave
Ultimates:
Super Saiyan
Perfect Kamehameha
Equipment is full 4 Star Dragonball outfit, Tagoma's Scouter and "No More Games" for my Z-Soul.
I have been giving my attention to GTA 5 online, monster hunter, and my newly acquired God of War saga. I beat 1 and 2 on ps2 and had been looking for a good reason to pick up 3 to finish the story. Five dollars for the saga seemed like a good reason!
I've been also trying out some board and other card games at a LGS about 45 mins away. I really enjoy Lords of Waterdeep and a kickstarter game called Peasant Buffet. I urge anyone to try either of those if you get a chance.
I have also been focusing on my kids and getting myself out in the world more so I can better my life after having problems for the last 6 months nearly. Mtg has, unfortunately, fallen to the wayside. I still keep up with digital media though and new spoilers.
I felt this solidified Nissa as a presence among her fellow planeswalkers, where before she felt much more like a one dimensional throwaway character. I am satisfied with her story and, though formulaic, enjoyed her coming to grips with her destiny. I also enjoyed her connection created with the bog. Here's to hoping we see a B/G Nissa in the future.
As far as the Eldrazi presence being presented as evil, I'd say that any living thing would view them as such, like a leech on a person. Surely you would be anxious to be rid of it and think it bad though it is just following it's natural urges?
its cards like this that lead other players to have to respond to what you've just built in the way that
the op is trying to respond to Maelstrom Wanderer. I say play them.
if your group does not like them they will either adapt or request that you not play those cards.
Kitchen Finks is in play with 3 +1/+1 counters on it. Finks also has a -1/-1 counter on it.
I think you missed the rule where if a +1/+1 or -1/-1 counter is placed on a permanent with a counter of the opposite type already there, then both counters are removed. In your example, Finks would only have two +1/+1 counters left on it as a state based effect. So they are correct in how this would work.
The way I worded Inspirit to use the mana cost of the card was to alleviate some complexity that will already exist with face down cards. Players will only have to track one cost (not including the "morph" cost) and will allow cards to be balanced off of only one cost instead of two, making it easier.
I also don't really know if my wording is different than yours. I believe the exile will be necessary, as I don't believe casting a card from the battlefield is allowed.
I had forgotten about this topic! Thanks for your input!
Sounds excellent! I began playing around the time Oath came out and remember reading how powerful it was and how well it was doing in my Inquest and Scry mags.
The only ideas I have had are for a U/R artifact deck featuring Ensoul Artifact and a W/G defender deck with Assault Formation. Due to some changes in my life situation, though, both ideas have been put on indefinate hold. I will revisit them in the future as I am very excited for both.

Those are just the black cards effective here. I'm not even sure red would be necessary!
Anyways, hope this helps. Good luck!
