    Soooooo...
This thread used to be a thing. Maybe it could be again? Let's see if we can make it so again.

My magic interest has been somewhat reignited by Kaladesh. It is hitting all the right spots for me. I love vehicles and would like to build a control deck with Skysovereign. Said deck would have to include creature cards that could stall an opponent while still being tapped or trigger on tapping or untapping. I can't decide on B/U, R/B, or U/R. I think U/R will be the way to go maybe. Said deck would also need a cool name to go with it. Crews Control has a nice ring to it.

Outside of that, life has been pretty good. Just got ahold of an old playstation 1001 model someone threw out (it still works!). Ordered a mod chip for about $9 US and hope to be running that thing in no time. Next step: spend the $20 US for a PS2 chip. The 17 wire solder part has me worried as my soldering skills are very subpar. Man, I love modifying consoles, be it hardware or software related.

Other than all that, I've been working and spending time with kids and turning the big 3-5. I'm getting old Frown

Show me what you got for my deck idea, your own idea, or just what's been happening with you. Let's get this up and running again!

    Hi!

Kaladesh has got me really excited too - lots of awesome cards to tinker with. I'm particularly liking the look of Paradoxical Outcome. If only I could complete my set of P9 for lots of Mox-fueled fun with it! Wink With your Skysovereign, Consul Flagship deck, how about some of the inspired creatures? Aerie Worshippers and Satyr Nyx-Smith in particular look like good fits.

As for what's been happening with me - I've had a bit of a change with my career and hopefully will start training as an accountant soon, which I'm pretty excited for. Smile

I went straight for the inspired creatures first! However, my take on the deck will require Mana to still be available for a counter if need be so that I may protect my vehicles as they do their thing. I'm looking for more mid-range options as opposed to late game.

Good luck with the new job! Accounting is not something I have been excited about at any point that I can remember, but best wishes to you. Especially if it increases your quality of life.

A bit more tweaking to balance Koth. Bolded text is new addition. Crossed-out text is removed stuff.

    Koth Reforged
    2RW
    Planeswalker - Koth (M)
+1: Put a +1/+1 counter on up to one target noncreature basic Mountain or Plains you control and it becomes a 3/3 Elemental creature with defender. It has "If this creature blocks or isn’t blocked, sacrifice it at end of turn." It's still a land.
-2: Creatures you control with defender can attack this turn as though they didn't have defender. Gain 1 life for each defender you control.
-6: You get an emblem with "Whenever a creature with defender you control dies, each opponent loses life equal to its toughness. You gain life equal to total of all life lost this way."
    {3}

I am satisfied and would play in RGW Defender.dec. Well done!

I like Koth, but feel his ultimate is not really there. A defender theme really should go with the defender's toughness to tie it with what we have seen out of ROE and after. Maybe raise his needed loyalty to trigger and change converted mana cost to toughness? Defender players will rejoice and he will still be considered low power.

I thoroughly enjoyed this week's story. I had no problem keeping up and it was quite well written. It gave just enough detail to inform you while not skimping on the great extras, like My Two Moms. I felt her helplessness and desire to do more and was happy she found her way.

And you are on the right track with 8 rack. Shrieking Affliction is an excellent card for when their hand continues to remain empty.

Called it weeks ago, was told to shut up because ''we didn't have any info outside of artbook and spoiled cards derp''.
    Feels good now.
    Story is still *****.

Doesn't artbook mention that Sorin and Nahiri couldn't kill the eldrazi beacuse they were too powerful?
Two goldike entities couldn't kill the eldrazi but a bunch of scrubs can? Yea, sure, whatever...

In defense of this point, I would like to point out that it is Nissa and her connection to Zendikar that figured out the leyline plan. Would Sorin or Nahiri have been connected like Nissa is, they very well might have discovered how to do it.
An old Walker had limitless power nearly. That did not mean they had limitless knowledge of everything. Even this story shows that Nahiri's work only meant to trap them, likely at the behest of Ugin. The fact that he tells Jace not to kill the Eldrazi means that he may have had an idea on how to do so while Sorin and Nahiri were not privy to that information. Thus those two could not destroy them.
However, correct me if i am mistaken as I am an avid reader of MTG lore, but only subpar at remembering facts.

Fry Not sure if clan is dead or just taking a very long break...

Hey all! I have been taking a long break. My Magic interest dropped below 0 for some time due to lack of players and being unenthused with recent sets with cards that seem only good for limited play. Really uninspiring. I am hoping to change that! I need two things from you before I start:

    1) A rundown of your goings-on. Let everyone know how you are getting along. As casual players, the bond we share is as important as the game.

    2) An inspiration that really hits the spirit of Magic circa pre KHANS block. I really have disliked most of the cards as they each didn't seem to have any build around potential for kitchen table play. They may have filled roles in Abzan good stuff decks or the eldrazi deck everyone seems to be throwing together, but it takes so much more to really hit me right in the casual feels.

    Hope to hear from you!

I suspect you will want to take a look at the Pox Primer in the legacy section. It lays out many options and their effectiveness against many archetypes so you can choose the best cards against your playgroup/opponents online.

Wotc twitter account spoiled Kozilek and Wastes as a basic land. It called the <> the new colorless symbol. This seemingly supports the camp stating that it will become a '6th color' in that it will allow only colorless mana to pay for it in costs.

As a limited thing, this ability is controllable by limiting the amount of life gain the set has. If you plan to make constructed worthy cards, development will need to make most of these abilities very weak, over cost the cards using the abities, or require a certain amount of life to be gained in order to trigger the ability.

So, with no foreknowledge of modern and it's archetypes, I essentially built an Affinity/Robots deck. I now ask for critique and suggestions that are budget-minded (nothing above $3 per card per TCG player mid).
Should I drop a couple of basics and add Springleaf Drum? The deck is consistent enough currently to grab three lands by turn 3 and win by turn 3-5. I also worry about Ensoul Artifact as a cornerstone piece. Perhaps some main deck Spell Pierce are in order. What to take out though...

I can't believe I missed this... Thanks! I will goldfish some hands with this to see how it goes.

So this is what I have been goldfishing. I have had a good deal of success with dumping my hand rather quickly and really hurting someone if I can see Ensoul Artifact. Unfortunately, the deck has no staying power if I just see creatures, even if I dump a Chief of the Foundry on the table with Signal Pest as well.
What I need is something to give my creatures that extra bit without resorting to high dollar rares/mythics or going with affinity any more than I already have.
    Any suggestions?
