Is it just me or is standard being decided within 4 turns especialy with RDW, WDW, BDW in the format?
Not at all. Standard is pretty healthy atm. There are a wide variety of reasonable decks.....aggro, midrange, control, & combo

The issue is twofold as I see it: 1) you're using something none of these children understand or have any connection to. Thus, the concept will likely be lost on them and it's much harder to keep a child's attention if it's not something they can relate to....and they won't be able to do that without understanding how the game works. This leaves you trying to teach them enough about the game, its backstory, etc and now you've found yourself completely off track 2) There are still religious nutjobs in the world who think Magic is some sort of satanic rite of passage. We live in a culture where anyone will find a reason to be offended by anything and you probably don't want to put yourself (or the school) in a position to deal with that sort of backlash.

sounds like some number of Frank Karsten articles would be something you might have some interest in

That said, this seems like a bad idea for a number of reasons

Its not the same. When a control deck has a hand full of cards and you're topdecking, its pretty easy to know you have to concede.

With Nexus decks, you could actually have a good board position, cards in hand, but your opponent keeps taking turns and you have no way to know if they will fizzle, but the game prolongs 10-20 mins long while they do this, and its all in detriment of the nexus's opponent and sometimes even everybody else in the tournament.

Much in the likes of egg decks in modern (which were banned btw)

Edit: And thats not even taking the fact that Nexus completely invalidates a whole arquetype (midrange)
Your're still dead to Nexus before youre actually dead, same as a control deck. If they have their combo pieces, theyre going to get a look at half their library every turn. Its in your best interest to scoop at this point.

In regard to killing midrange strategies, Bant Midrange was designed specifically to beat Nexus @ SCG Richmond. Having said that, it doesnt even matter if it generally preys upon that archetype, because every deck is going to have its good and bad matchups. So yes, if the Nexus player sees a lot of Sultai, thayre going to fair well. If they see a lot of Mono Red, not so much

Completely disagree. It may not be a fun deck to play against, but its not overwhelmingly strong to the point where its warping or oppressing the format. Nexus decks struggle with the same issue a lot of control decks do.....the opponent not knowing when theyre dead and making them play an extra 20 minutes

Don't blink first? Its hard to say for certain without seeing first hand. In regard to checkland hands, in slower matchups theyre fine as you generally wont be using your mana until turn 3, though youd rather have untapped sources if youre looking to Azcanta/Erasure on 2

Standard seems to be in a good place but keep in mind larger tournaments arent meant for new players. Thats what local LGS cater towards. Among highly competitive players, Modern seems to be the prefered format, hence the increased number of those events. If anything, i wish they'd get rid of limited events for more constructed

Davriel is one of the cards GB/x decks are using to leverage the Nexus matchup

I assume you meant Reclamation, not Fate? Also, are you running a standard WW list? Its usually fast enough to get under the Nexus clock. 4 Demystify is too much imo. 2-3 should be enough alongside your Tribunal in that matchup

I currently have 12 Standard decks completely built. Take from that what you will....

I was playing modern as well but recently sold off both of my decks

Thief is solid against any deck light on removal, which Nexus certainly is

as a Nexus player, there are ~ 4 cards I really dont want to see. Thief of Sanity, Mountain, Tithe Taker, & Teferi, Time Raveler

Gideon will be back imo but the 3 mentioned above are the most obvious choices in the meantime

Look, I know I've been embracing "WAR as an event comic" more than anyone, but I somehow doubt WotC will just snap him back into existence. It'll be at least a punch.

But seriously, Maro and Doug have both been trying to keep death meaningful in Magic.
Im not saying its going to happen immediately, but when they return to Theros, I think he'll be brought back. Given the mythological undertones of the block and how the "underworld" could be manipulated in said mythos, seems like a slam dunk way to bring him back in a reasonable way. In regard to Maro, I dont trust him to do anything correctly.

Id prefer pain lands but it would also be nice to see the Odyssey lands like Mossfire Valley make a return
