We'll have to do more testing, but I see a lot of potential in this little guy, the fact that he can easily take down 2 faeries with him is nothing to scoff at, and a free Shock against a player's face post-Wrath is always welcome.
And using pump effects like Liege, Auntie or Goblin King is quite fun, turns him into a mini FTK of sorts.
Maybe not as a 4-of, but I won't be surprised at all if I see Murderous Redcap popping on tournament lists.

I'd cut those Ghitu Encampents since CIPT lands suck in such aggressive decks, also maybe I'd run 1 less Mutavault over 1 Mountain since you want to have RRR by turn 3.
I don't think Lash Out is a good idea since it needs a targetable creature in order to be played, and you're going to lose clashes a lot since you run a lot of low CMC cards.
Browbeat is bad, since you let your opponent choose what would hurt him the less.
I think you should play Ashenmoor Gougers since 3-mana 4/4s are a nice deal, and maybe you could try running those Goblins suggested at Starcity, the kinship 1-drop that becomes 2/2 and the 2-mana hasted 1/1 Goblin that becomes 2/2 if you control another red creature.
I can't say much about the SB since we don't fully know the metagame, personally however, I'm a big fan of Threaten, it can come in VERY handy vs oppossing 'Goyfs, and maybe I'd take Fulminator Mage over Magus of the Moon since the Mage can take a land down with him if he's killed, and most decks are going to pack quite a few basic lands so Magus of the Moon may not be so crippling.

Nice article, though I am definitely not a WW fan, I like your build except for the 4xTurn to Dust, I'd always take good ol' staple Disenchant over a 4cc Sorcery.
I liked a lot your defense of Shade of Trokair, I remember letting one resolve with impunity precisely because I suspected a Calciderm may have been coming on the same turn.

Another quality card for today's Flores preview, that little Goblin will probably be everywhere, I can't imagine an aggro deck with acces to R (like a true aggro deck should, FIRE, FIRE, FIRE!!) not playing 4 copies of this dude, it seems less exciting for limited though, where if you don't play it in the first or second turns it'll often be an ineffective kamikaze attacker.
Mirrorweave seems to allow all sorts of tricks, but I'm definitely not a Johnny so I'll leave it up to them to discover its potential.
Plumeveil is good for limited, no doubt, and maybe it'll show as an anti-aggro SB card in some decks.

I think Flores has once again given us a quality card for his preview. Solid and versatile, I'm sure this guy will see quite his share of play, in case you can't/don't need to destroy a land with him, you at least get a critter, plus it's a much better topdeck than an LD spell.
And unlike Magus of The Moon, zapping this guy with removal can easily cost you a land, and you could also chump-block with him and have him take along a land on the way to the 'yard.
And Flores' tip of using him out from the board to nuke Deserts if you're playing Faeries will probably be heeded by UB players.

Rhys seems unexciting to me, he can start making tokens the same turn an Imperious Perfect would be able to do it (assuming you accelerated into it), but the Perfect actually gives you 2/2 elves for a meager G, it seems quite more useful in Limited though.
The Scarecrow is powerful in Limited, no doubt, I want one of those.
Now....Godhead of Awe-some is really something, if UW control builds are playable, here we have a nifty winning condition, it hoses critter decks horribly, and who cares about your own creatures, you won't need any additional creatures with this beater on the table. Suck it up Tarmo!

RIP Gary Gygax, thanks for everything.

I doubt we'd even have Magic if he hadn't come up with Dungeons and Dragons, and many of the people who do the games we enjoy today were surely inspired by D&D, this is definitely sad news for all of us here.

Goodbye Gary, we'll be missing you.

Here we go! more expensive lands, at least it's not as bad as during Ravnica block, with that said I do wonder what kind of deck wouldn't run even just a couple of Mutavaults, its only drawback is that it can't produce colored mana...go figure...even tight monocolored aggro decks can reasonably run the risk of having two colorless-producing lands in exchange of a 2/2 manland for the ridiculous price of 1 colorless to activate.
Control decks will obviously play this one, definitely one of the most powerful cards I've seen in a long time

That fairy rocks, 3 mana for a 3-power flyer with flash is definitely good, even if it's a bit on the frail side, the CIPT ability is very versatile, since you can either use it proactively against your opponent by hiding their most dangerous card, or you can target yourself and cycle away a card that's not particullary useful. I'm sure it'll see play, it's just another reason to either join the Faeries or work 3 Deserts into my UW Pickles deck....

OMG! They have just given Doran decks yet another manafixer for the infamous "T1:Forest, Birds, go. T2:Brushland/Llanowar Wastes/(now)Murmuring Bosk, Doran, get ready for a beating" draw. I hope they reprint Smother to zap Doran like in Extended:P

With that said, even if you have few Ents...err...Treefolk, this is an excellent manafixer, so much for reining in multicolored decks WOTC.....get this from the kids in your prerelease if you can, these'll ve very demanded I'm sure

That Assassin may be useful if we get a good number of Assasin cards, and the good ol' Changelings that can double as Assassins too but doesn't excite me too much.

Negate rocks on the other hand, a powerful SB card for control-on-control matches, and a powerful weapon for Fairy decks, since now you have a cheap counter to stop non-creature spells like Wrath, O-Rings and the like. I'm sure it will see some serious play.

  • posted a message on [MOR] 4 New Cards from WOTC Website
Nice New Year present WOTC, that little elf is insane for Limited, and I can definitely see it in Constructed too, in a dedicated Elf deck you have about a 60% chance of getting a free bear every turn, and free tokens are never to be dismissed.

The Kithkin land seems kinda uninteresting to me, at least you can add a meager +1/+1 counter when you don't need it, but I would have preferred some manafixing instead.

The 10/10 Elemental is going to be a serious Sealed bomb, and Timmy fodder to set up lopsided trades, hehe, gotta think outside the in-game possibilities too.

Whoo-hoo! a Grand Prix in Madrid!!!, I'll finally be able to play in a GP without winning a GP Trial or having to pay for an air ticket...........Curse WOTC if they decide to make it a Legacy GP, though:p

This is really cool, I hope I get one of those Damnations this year, the other 2 cards are nifty as well, it's great to see Wizards giving promos that really see play like Damnation or Incinerate, like the previous promo ***. Thumbs up for that one

  • posted a message on [LOR] the rest of the green cards
WTF, that Eyes of the Wisent is one of the most abusive hosers I've ever seen vs blue, now that Spell Snare is rotating out Blue has literally no answer for this card when on the draw, except for a life-saving Boomerang in your own turn. What puzzles me is that it triggers with any kind of spell, considering how the focus of this set is on playing creatures I would have expected it to trigger only when an opponent played noncreature spells in your turn, but they decided to print a hoser for both Teferi-and-counterspell based and Block Faerie decks, what's the fun in playing those annoying faeries, especially Scion of Oona, Mistblind Clique or Wydwen EOT if your opponent dropped this bomb on the table before you could even react, and you're playing UB so you can't zap enchantments.

That neo-Duress is looking more and more useful by the hour.
