This is exactly the type of grand architect deck I'm building atm too. I don't have my deck sitting in front of me but it uses the trinket mage tool box with brittle effigy and chimeric mass.

Your deck has me rethinking some of my choices though. Like you said, the more I play with grand architect the more I see he wants to be in a mean mid range agro type deck that just smashes face. So a fish subtheme with coralhelm commanders and cosi tricksters seem very interesting me, basically running two lords. I run enclave cryptologist, who happens to be another fish, she draws me an absurd amount of cards each game she comes out. Shes a little fragile but your opponents really have much bigger threats to deal with first and can replace your lists preordains for draw.

I'm not a big fan of lodestone golum, prob because I run a set of mana leaks, instead i run steel Hellkites. Turn three hellkite is a scoop if they don't have an answer for it before it can turn sideway and if you think they do turn four hellkite with counter back up is just as viable.

My. Sb looks something like, kraken hatchling, spreading seas, and counters.

They weren't. This game is nothing but the same thing over, and over, and over again. It gets very boring after the first ten minutes, and the OMG ITS SO COOL I CAN CLIMB UP WALLS feeling dies even faster. The plot seemed to be kind of generic. The only saving grace of this game are the graphics, which are only slightly above average Overall, I would give this game a B-.

    What were your guys opinions?

I think its kinda funny that you bash the hell out of this game and then give it a... B-. isnt a B- saying that its pretty good.

How exactly is the plot generic? Crusades era assassin uncovering a global conspiracy as re-lived through his his progeny 800 years later is not a plot i see recreated time and time again.

its a good game, its not with out its issues but sounds like its being bashed because of over hype. Ill look forward to part 2 and going through all the levels again for the achievements.

Neat deck. But is it just me, or is Hoofprints of the Stag better than Sacred Mesa? I could be wrong; Mesa-control decks are not even close to what I play, I was just wondering.

If you tossed in a couple copies of Horizon Canopy, it would help prevent land flood. Just an idea.

i totally agree on hoofprints of the stags being included. ive been working on a u/w counterpost deck with hoofprints being one of the main wincons and it works out great in combination with instant speed card draw like careful consideration. i think you should cut the green and replace garruk with hoofprints and the tree top villages with faerie conclaves.

I think Mono U Control is possible but you would probably need a splash of white or black for Wrath or Damnation because aggro decks will be everywhere.

another poss.evacuation. its a pretty good sub. it's an instant keeps you in mono blue and resets the board.

Eyeblights ending will be seeing plenty of play, it's the neo Rend Flesh and with putrify and its ravnican brethren leaving soild creature removal is going to be gold. The only two things stopping it is going to be the poss. popularity of Elves or shapeshifters. Comparing that to kami block which more than half of the crits were spirits Rend Flesh still saw play in the removal light t2 enviornment of mr/kam.

It's not as good as everyone initially thought(I believe the force spike confusion was something to do with how it was originally rumoured to be).

However hard countering 1cc or 2cc spells is a pretty good thing since many of the most commonly played cards cost that much- Tarfire, Shock, Condemn, Unsummon, Thoughtseize, The Rack, Funeral Charm, Mogg Fanatic, Goldmeadow Stalwart, Flamekin Bladewhirl, Boggart Birth Rite, Knucklebone Witch, Burreton Forgetender, Giant Growth, Brute Force, Might of Old Krosa, the Martyr of Sand cycle, Mana Tithe and so on all only cost 1 mana and all are playable.

Also at worst its a 1/1 flying faerie creature with flash for 1U, which isn't exactly horrible.

totally agreed, im not looking at this guy to take the place of mana leak by any means but at worst its a hard counter against 1cc spells with a flying man on it that gets progressivly better. For a control deck packed full of counters, thats pretty effiecient for the mana cost.

im feeling a "soilfuge isnt a 4/3! then its crap!" kinda vibe from this card. not saying that its anywhere as good as soilfuge so dont flame me for that, but seriously folks, its a good card. just not the "awesome" card we all thought it was when it was first spoiled.

Return target creature from your graveyard to play with a mannequin counter on it. As long as that creature has a mannequin counter on it, it has "When this creature becomes the target of a spell or ability, sacrifice it."

INSTANT reanimation? Will be great with Protection from X creatures or creatures with shroud. To bad we lose Simic Sky Swallower.

nice call on the mannequin and shroud, teams up nicely with the faerie tribe dont you think, since there lord grants shroud to the tribe and doing things on your opponents turn. hell gets even better with all the evoke creatures come to think about it.

the B goblin is pretty nice for a one drop and give you some good options when attacking with a army of goblin tokens.

"Creatures" is seeing a little play, mainly in sideboards. But the point is that it's a lot weaker than the land version.

I haven't heard of "result" seeing any play outside of casual.

Moon is an interesting point. It's the only one which is arguably stronger as a creature, due to characteristics of the metagame.

Although you have some good points with the magus cycle i think the sower of temptation just might fall in the magus of the moon category. blue mages will have alot of resources to combat it's untimely death and at the very least you get a flying 2/2 with gain control of target creature until end of turn. i think flash would have made it a total house, but i leave final judgement for playtesting.

has anyone else notice that the 4cc slot is starting to look a bit crowded.

Jace is going to be my perosonal chase rare.

Many say garruk because he can protect himself behind a wall of 3/3's but thats still lowers his loyalty way way down into the ping me range. Jace on the other hand can build up 7 to loyalty the turn after he hits the ground. if an agro player wants to waste there turn 4 commiting 7 damage towards my planeswalker and instead of me then great. All control needs is time and cards, Jace provides that in spades.

I also think its funny that some think he's "only good in mill decks", lol. actually his third ability is a bit weak but can be used as one helluva alternate win condition in the late game against control mirrors. I wouldnt bet on it being the sole reason to be playing jace over the others.

with that said- Garruk is easily second and can find a great home in mid-range beater decks. Before Jace was revealed he was my favorite, Jace simply out classes him when they are put into the there respective deck types.

If any of you seriously think this card is a dud or simply isnt constructed worthy, you obviously don't play control.

He is exactly what a blue control deck likes. Cheap card advantage and an alternate win condition built in.

There's nothing flashy about this card and thats why alot of people just dont see it's worth. Reminds me alot of when teferi was first spoiled, " bleh! 3/4 for 5... prob just a sideboard card against control mirrors!"

Time will tell if this card makes the cut but it certainly has all the potential in the world. Its definetly the only walker that can be easily abused in an already powerful deck arch-type, counter-control.

beyond the multitude of citp creatures in blue, there's a little blip written about blue faeries having flash with citp and one in particular that will have counter target spell. If that rumor is true then "manuvering the demon" (hopefully its translated to something much better) will be much better. seeing it in a fish type deck with lowcc citp critters.

I have a soft spot for cards at 2cc with the words "counter target spell" on it.
