Hey all, it's been a long time since I visited this thread (and mtgslavation all together), I'm getting in a duel commander friendly tournament in a couple of weeks and I was wondering if anyone has a decklist to take as starting point
I'll like to play a list with land destruction as well as land recursion but I feel that cards like molten rain are a waste of time (either too slow or horrible top decks). Also recurrent discard could go well with Windgrace's -2, maybe oppression or liliana of the veil...
Tezz is confirmed, as last week they showed his card art and said he’d be revealed this week. I’d assume lili and Sarkhan are both in as well at this point, given the walker decks. Not sure where this leaves the mythic count but I wouldn’t be surprised if we go one or two over, since Bolas (and likely Ugin) will be on a different sheet being DFC
Tezz, sarkhan, Liliana, and ajani and vivien (already spoiled) have regular mono colored pw cards right? I mean the art is in the boosters and all.
Hey guys, I've been messing around with the baubles version and I feel it's actually faster, also it seems that Jund has actually slowed down a little with the 4 bloodbraid elf MB, could it be feasible just to go under Jund? I mean, could it be possible that the deck is actually in a good place right now? or is Jacekai too dominant and too awful for GDS??
...I want the card to have hex proof, flash or both...
This is old tech but some of us tried Archangel Avacyn when SOI released and it wasn't actually bad at all, almost like a 4th colonnade and it can chump block or kill an attacker, also it evades push and bolt and the transform ability is relevant.
its like you cant decide what you want your main strategy to be, so you include a little bit of both.
if you wanted to focus on one strategy you would have no quellers or all 4 in the main deck.
also having a good curve is good, since you dont want too many expensive spells - however it isnt as important in this kind of deck. you arent tapping out on your turn, so it isnt as important to maximize your mana usage. there are also opt/serum visions and snapcaster to fill in the gaps.
Ok! I guess now I'm more confused whether I should play Quellers or not :/
...like you are hedging, which is generally frowned upon over streamlining in one direction other the other...
What does hedging mean in this context? I'm not that fluent in english. The idea behind 2 quellers is to smooth the curve so I don't have more 3 drops than 2 drops etc., that is to have less probabilities to draw a hand filled with 3 drops or drawing 2 four drops before turn 3. My meta is mostly Jund, Affinity, Etron & Tron, then Queller should be more relevant than gheist right? I picked a settle the wreckage against dredge, living end, and affinity.
I'm treating snapcaster mage as a 3cmc drop (that's why there are only 2 spell queller and 1 Electrolyze MB), and secure the wastes as a 5cmc or more, because I wanted to smooth the mana curve as much as possible (see the attachment). Also I went to 9 fetches so hopefully I won't drown as much with 25 lands. Having Settle the Wreckage, Spell Queller, Supreme Verdict and the second Jace in the SB, is for the sole purpose of swapping them for another in the matches where 2 copies are necessary or not as useful. What do you think?
Hey guys, I’m trying this deck again since the jace unban, does anyone has a stock list to share? I really can’t tell wheter the core shell runs 4 spell queller or gheists or none at all. I want to have a not so tough match against jund since my meta is pretty much jund and affinity. A few years ago I used to play the walls & resto package and I remember having a great jund match but the decklist also had remand and mana leak, are those are out of the question now? Also I haven’t had any great results with jace, should we run just 1-2 copies instead of 3-4?
Dropping Whirler virtuoso is a heated debate, a lot of players say it's vital because it can chump block Hazoret decks (since you can create the token at instant speed)or that it fuels Glint-sleeve siphoner (without whirler it becomes weaker), but I can understand perfectly why sometimes it becomes an awful top deck.
Anyways, I found this tournament report in /spikes and felt it was a good reading. I'm not playing any rekindling phoenix right now but hopefully I'll get a set eventually, but going by some 5-0 lists it's not the best card in the deck, yet maybe because of it we need to pack a minimum of 3 Vraska's contempt.
But I'm having problems with the sideboard since I haven't been able to participate in any events since last bannings. I'm entering a small tournament this Saturday so any help would be really appreciated:
Maybe we could try 2 bedlams in the side instead of 2 young pyro? Still it's difficult to say because bedlam doesn't play well with countermagic or keeping cards in hand and it's also somewhat susceptible to graveyard hate, slowerish, and does not help against lingering soul decks...
