I agree the gambit and guardian were not impressive, they pretty much always got sideboarded out for usually Eaten by Spiders and Snare the Skies was the usual combination. I had the trident in my first build of the deck and then took it out for some reason... I don't know why, but I never even considered playing Joint Assault lol
So I just finished a sealed event on MODO, and I typically like to share my limited decks with others to see what they would have done differently. So here goes
I finished 3-1 with this deck, losing in the final round to a deck that dropped Sigarda turn 4 off of Vessel of Endless Rest both games. As an aside, seriously are the only 2 answers to her in limited rares (Bonfire and Terminus)? Besides having a big enough flier to trade..
After looking at my pool, I instantly decided on black as my base, with the amount of removal and with the power-level of the two black rares. My first build had blue with it cause I liked the idea of the fliers with the solitary theme of black. But the color didn't feel strong enough to me, I like Amass the Components, but I really only wanted to play one of them not both. I feel Spectral Prison is a really mediocre removal spell in general and didn't want to play it.
White had Silverblade Paladin... and not much else that interested me. Red leads itself to a more aggressive deck, and Thunderous Wrath isn't really a splashable card. On the other hand, Lightning Prowess is.
Haunted Guardian, Predator's Gambit, And Unhallowed Pact seemed the weakest cards in the deck. The intimidate part of the Gambit was never relevant, usually it enchanted the Searchlight Geist or Wandering Wolf. The Pact netted me a Druid's Familiar and Heirs of Stromkirk the two times I had it. Never once drew the Guardian or Gloomwidow.
I'm not a pro player by any means, but I usually do pretty decent by my standards. I spend many nights after work playing a few standard 2-mans, at the end of the night I'm usually up by 10-15 additional tickets from what I started the night with. I switch back and forth between a zombie deck and delver normally.
But tonight was a completely different story, I spent around 30 tickets on 2-mans tonight without ever winning one of the matches O.o Like, I couldn't even beat random piles of cards (for instance a RUW Venser Stonehorn deck packing Seance, Mirror-Mad Phantasm, Faithless Looting, Unburial Rites).
+200 or so junk rares
+ playsets of most of the playable legal un/commons (think stuff like Duress, Lightning Helix, Kird Ape, Mogg Fanatic, Spell Snare, etc.)
+ 100 or so Blue Elemental Blasts
What is the interaction here, what happens? We tried calling as many judges as we knew trying to figure this out and after an hour we got to some conclusion, but I didn't catch what it was. And it was irrelevant because one the players conceded after all that anyways.
I can't recall if Player A had played/tried to play any cards prior to the Return on his turn or not.

Green seemed the best to me, it gave 2 Borderland Ranger to easily splash the Lightning Prowess (Which goes hand in hand with Nightshade Peddler and Harvester of Souls). It gave several creatures that are good to throw away with Bone Splinters or Connoisseur to stay at the one creature in play.

Player A plays a Dread Return
