I really liked this. What Ojutai did in Khanfall was pragmatic, to ensure his and his kind's survival. On top of that, he honored Shu Yun's deal and carried out his terms. So, not tyrannical.
From a human on tarkir's perspective, I could see why people thought he was a tyrant or would punish Narset. Otherwise, not surprised that he isn't that.
Ensure his kind's survival? This is simply not true. The dragon tempests were increasing, not ceasing, as in the previous timeline. There was no threat to the dragons at all from the Khans.
They nipped the threat of an allied clan coalition. That's responding to a threat. Just because the threat was diffused doesn't mean it wasn't a threat. Either the Khans come into power, or the dragons. That's been the framework of this block, if you've been following.
Actually, the framework of the block seems to be that Ugin intended for there to be balance, and tipping the balance either way results in a dark future for Tarkir. It'll be extremely interesting to see what happens when Sarkhan wakes Ugin up, and Ugin sees what has become of his world.
Oh for sure. Just stating why it's no surprise to me that Ojutai isn't a huge dick like people seem to have expected. He merely ensured their own survival and dominance. As opposed to extinction that we saw in KTK. It'll be interesting to see Ugin do his Rayquaza thing.

It annoys me to no end that everything in Narset's story SCREAMS UR. Her insatiable thirst for knowledge, the inability to stand still, and the blatant disregard for staying out of forbidden areas are all red traits.
Why the hell is she UW, the color combo with the most structure?
Her discipline to not giving into running away and seeking Ojutai's approval blatantly overshadows any red impulsiveness. She remains loyal to Ojutai in the end, but we'll see where it goes and why he didn't punish her for what she did. (My guess is Taigam manufactures a reason for her expulsion from University Ojutai Tarkir).
I'm voting for Atarka because it's the one I want the most. If the booster packs have the pictures for the Dragonlords, then Ojutai looks really cool. At least he has that going for him!
Think it's just a dragon of his brood, doesn't look like the DTK playmat art of him.
Voting Atarka, I most would like Ojutai to not be the worst, I mean, can he get worse than his FRF version?
Interesting all these old vs new / canon vs retcon discussions stemming from a block about the past and the new present.
I personally have liked the direction the art has gone in recent sets. Even then, I love all of the classic artists that still get cards to do.
The creepiest bit is he may not be 'dead' as such. Sibsig are a thing after all. Silumgar seems like the type to keep Tasigur self-aware forever just to show off his complete dominance.
Akki_Akki agrees. Plus Silumgar probably had magics/enchantments placed on Tasigur to keep him from rotting and decaying away while also maintain Tasigur's mental awareness when compared to other Sibsig, to better preserve his trophy.
If anything, the explanation at least makes it clear that it's the card type he's explaining. Which suggests a card can be an elder dragon but not an (pronoun-)elder dragon.
Yeah she looks leveled up. A martial artist/monk in Sultai wouldn't make sense, much less a character who is strongly associated with Jeskai.
The lack of the ghostfire symbol might signify her dropping red from her colors.
As much as I want her to be UW, there are strands of red woven into her scarfs...she may be Jeskai colored...
Look gold to me.
The scarfs that are flowing outside the boundaries of the image, not the ones by her sleeves. They're red. You can especially tell with the ones on the left side.
Also, Tackman, she has a lot of white prominent on her, so I don't think she's losing her white.
The long thin ones right? Yeah I see gold.
I honestly can't decide which I'd like more, U/W or R/U/W Narset.

Her +1 is exactly how someone here called it a long time ago if she were to become a planeswalker. Nice!
6 loyalty for 4? unf
Narset's is harder to guess... The hard angles makes me say Dromoka territory, but who knows.
Ojutai looks cool on his command.

Turned him into a Stuffy Doll.
