broodwarjc posted a message on Token Punishment deckIs there a possible token creature punishment deck viable?Posted in: Standard Archives
I remember the days of aristocrats, when you didn't care as much if you swung away, but could kill a player just with Blood Artist triggers.
The goal of this deck would be to mass creatures into play for effects, relying less on combat, but more on Enchantment triggers. This takes away the risk of combat and getting blocked by fat Siege Rhinos. This strategy is also still effective even if they bring in Virulent Plague.
Punishment cards:
Purphoros, God of the Forge Excellent and hard to remove, can pump all the tokens.
Impact Tremors Smaller Purphoros, but good to play on turn 2.
Outpost Siege Nice effect to punish wiping the board.
Good token producers in Red:
Goblin Rabblemaster
Dragon Fodder
Hordeling Outburst
Descent of the Dragons
Good token producers in White:
Brimaz, King of Oreskos
Elspeth, Sun's Champion
Heliod, God of the Sun
Monastery Mentor
Raise the Alarm
Take Up Arms
Triplicate Spirits
Launch the Fleet
Secure the Wastes
Good cards dependent on a full board:
Foul-Tongue Shriek
Harsh Sustenance
Brutal Hordechief
Dragonrage
Lightning Volley
Sorin, Solemn Visitor
Decent combat trick cards:
Great Teacher’s Decree
Rush of Battle
Magmatic Chasm
Volcanic Rush
Good burn spells:
Lightning Strike
Stoke the Flames
Wild Slash
I will post a decklist in a little bit.
I might make a primer out of this once the set releases and I get to test it. For now please discuss and post any decklists or card selections I might have missed. -

infernox10 posted a message on Khans of Tarkir feels like yet another Magic set.I've read through all of the comments by quickly scrolling down the page and glancing every now and then to come to the conclusion that everyone who has posted previously is a bunch of filthy casuals who don't understand MtG at all. I will provide a pro's analysis because I know I'm a pro and everyone else's opinion is completely inaccurate.Posted in: New Card Discussion
I am a self-proclaimed pro because I've watched like two finals matches of Pro Tours on Youtube. I can tell you that Scrubs of Tarkir (that's my name for Khans of Tarkir, because I'm really clever) is going to be the worst set since M15 (and we all know M15 was the worst, just barely beating Journey into Nyx).
Wizards is just trying to make money. They print Fetchlands to take our money because they can't print anything better. I know Fetchlands are good because everybody says they are. I can't believe that people are going to spend money on this set. Everyone who spends money on it, I will scoff at them loudly. The only reason why I'm spending anywhere near a thousand dollars on boxes is to get the Fetchlands.
I can't believe people are falling for this obvious cashgrab. I'm quitting Standard for the night. Tomorrow I might pick it up if Wizards is lucky. -

Georg51 posted a message on Khans of Tarkir feels like yet another Magic set.You know what bothers me the most? Wizards has once again made a product that they are going to put a price tag on. I mean, do they really expect us to pay for this product? What a bunch of greedy corporate fascists Wizards are - I'm quitting Magic forever. How dare they ask me to pay money to play their game.Posted in: New Card Discussion -

Ashk'rya posted a message on Khans of Tarkir feels like yet another Magic set.I just feel like this set has cards in it. I can count at least 3 others sets with cards in them, and quite frankly I'm sick of it. They are way too similar, might make me quit magic this time.Posted in: New Card Discussion -

Khans of Tarkir is the worst set ever. Wizards is powering down Standard. They just want it to be stupid turning creatures sideways. Nothing in the set will be Modern or Legacy playable. This is a cash grab. Combo is dead. Mark Rosewater is ruining Magic. The mechanics are boring and old. Clan names are stupid.
Did I miss anything? -

Clownstabber posted a message on THE Mono White Budget ThreadGodsend is actually surprisingly powerful. Against the green decks it dominates the board completely, and since they are low on creature removal it can be easy to take over the game with it. In any case, though, it is much more proactive than celestial flare, despite being much more costly.Posted in: Standard Archives - To post a comment, please login or register a new account.

The card itself is nice, but the flavor is strong with this one.
Well, for those who were expecting an "Unmake" spell, you weren't wrong at all.

Only if you're running a deck with 4 Myth Realized and 56 plains.

Gorgeous art.
edit: took this from the mothership.

"Wizards wants, wizards wants (...)" I think I've had enough of this statement.
Why do people think they know exactly what does WOTC want and why?
Perhaps because they lack themselves the curious and inventive nature that keep people creating innovative and fun ways to play.

KHANS OF TARKIR is a cashgrab set, I'm sure of it.
