Agree with that. With Bones the worst thing is all the players have no hands, but there still be chance of top deck to save the game, but with this ridiculous God, only one Mindslicer will end the game instantly and there's almost no chance to survive.

to say nothing of the back, put a win con and the ability to untap itself, seriously?

I think this card should be banned for the same reason they banned black Braid. It's hard to counter and it destroys the game experience.

Nice update to the list. I keep playing Nekusar basing on your list and he never fail me in fun and game winning. But since my meta is filling with wipe and destroy spells, so I reduce the number of creatures to a minimum amount, keeping only "Fate Unraveler" and "Psychosis Crawler", but I am using atlas + MOM as a supplement. Talking about creatures, I came to notice this one recently: "Abyssal Nocturnus", I don't know if it had been mentioned before or abandoned long time ago, but with this guy on the battle field you can just kill one player with just one wheel, may be it worth a try I guess?

Ya, counter heavy decks are honestly the worst. I've never seen one win, just kind of mess with the board. It's one thing when Norin does it and its random and funny with that tinge of hope things still work out, but those decks thatre built to just say "no" with no real other plan are awful.

So in other news, the deck works pretty well. The artifact thing is cool and putting more pieces may not be needed given how many times I kind of had to choose. I probably need more games to make a statistic call like that, but it's already been noted. It wasn't a matter of clogging my hand- it was just wheeling or going on to draw was a better move. It makes me think Trash for Treasure may actually work out. I added Molten Psyche in place of Pyroblast, it's been pretty easy to wheel twice a turn, which has fed into wins in the past.

Hi, Welgo, I have been a frantic Mizzix lover since the first time she(?) is spoiled and I have tracked all the threads on MTGSalvation about her. I used to play Dies_to_Doom_Blade's list, which is focus on storm mechanism and win with digging and the Reiterate combo. However his list is hard to survive and unfold in a multiplayers game after you have shown your sparky and bravo victory once : you are locked and became the aim of all fires. So yesterday I tried your testing list with Metallurgic Summonings, Aetherflux reservoir and etc. The only 1 game I tried failed very quickly, without those cantrip cards and low cmc rocks, I stuck at 5 lands with full hand of high cmc cards like dig through time, reforge the soul , tide and something else. So I want to know how do you play the list and what's your opinion? I feel it less reliable and consistency compared to the storm one ( sorry to say that ), any comments Please ?

Thank you Omni~! What a warm and comprehended reply! I can see your reasonings behind why Infect Rafiq won't be efficient in a multi game and some of them coincide with my feelings and worries. I am considering adapting the deck to a more controllable style, so any suggestions are welcome, especially about the useful cards released since your last update.

For the Bant deck, now I am using a bant enchantment deck in local multi games, guess which commander I use, ;), still Rafiq. I go with control and combo style, including classical Enchanted Evening/Aura thief/Calming Verse combo, along with Earth craft/squirrel, Opalescence/Parallax Wave, rest in pease/helm combos etc. The bant good stuff deck you recommended seems solid, maybe I will try it when I get tired of the enchantment.

    Hi Kingprotoss,

I probably have not played this deck since my last post which was in 2014. This deck will most likely struggle in a meta of 4 to 5 free-for-all as opposed to 1v1 or a 3-man free-for-all. You will often be seen as a big threat because you can one-shot people out of the blue so as soon as you do anything relevant or threatening you will likely have all the removel, counterspells, and board wipes being used on you. If you're not hated off the table the next problem you face is running out of gas because you will likely have your threats dealt with quickly. If you hold back playing threats without some haste enablers then you give other players more time to setup their defenses. You can try to hold back on the killing spree to see if other players will start fighting each other first.

I'm not saying its impossible for you to win a 4 or 5 player game with infect Rafiq, but if you're opponents know what they're in for it is an uphill battle for you.

Would you like me to look over the current sets to provide my thoughts on potentially useful new cards?

The current form of my Rafiq deck is meant more for your meta, but it doesn't really focus on infect and it isn't fine tuned. I just sort of threw together a deck that was full of Bant cards that I liked. I haven't been playing as much EDH as I used to even though I still love the format. If you'd like to try a multiplayer build of Rafiq then I'd recommend looking at Swift2210's build: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/217213-edh-rafiq-of-the-many

Another deck for multiplayer that I'd recommend (still not infect, but just as much of a threat at the table) is Prossh which bighaben and feverous have a nice Primer on: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/commander-edh/multiplayer-commander-decklists/511349-bighaben-and-feverous-prossh-skyraider-of-kher-bfz

Seems very long time since the last update. Infect Rafiq always be my favorite deck in all times and I think this thread has inspired me a lot. Have you still have this deck in play? My current meta are playing 4~5 people free for all, sometimes Two Headed Giant, with both official and French ban list applying. I am curious to see what your deck looks like if you are still using it.

Sorry I haven't been on MTGS much lately. As for updates I have yet to test anything, but I'll list the cards that have potential.

    Khans has brought us:
    Become Immense
    Dig Through Time
Savage Punch (okay removal when combined with a pump spell, and if done this way it doubles as a pump)
Stubborn Denial (situational, but I'd probably just run Spell Pierce instead)
Treasure Cruise (steep delve, but worth it if the game is going long enough for you to have that many fetches and spells in your graveyard)
Ghostfire Blade (budget option to equip to our artifact infectors)

    M15 has:
    Ajani Steadfast
Ensoul Artifact (great way to turn some of the small artifact infectors into 5/5s)
Helliod's Pilgrim (budget option to grab a good aura)
    Hushwing Gryff
Life's Legacy (if you know it's going to die next turn or something you can sac it second main phase to draw some cards)
Oppressive Rays (budget way to screw with your opponent's blocker or utility creature)
Return to the Ranks (okay way to reanimate multiple infect and/or utility creatures)
Voidsnare (budget option to get a problem off the board)

    Born of the Gods has:
    Mortal's Resolve

Out of all of these the only ones I would probably consider for the competitive list without budget restrictions would be:
    Become Immense
    Dig Through Time
    Savage Punch
    Treasure Cruise
    Ensoul Artifact

Any chance to update your list? I wonder what it looks like after all your tests. I am now running the more original ( with no other creatures and only Tezzeret) version of Mizzix.

Hi guys, how do u think about the new Mulligan rules? Without the free partial mulligan, it seems harder for a combo heavy deck like Mizzix to go. I have tested my Mizzix deck yesterday after a long time holiday, and the new Mulligan rules really matters, I played two games and both stuck at 4 or 5 lands. Very sadly. Any suggestions?

Have u tried Lotus Vale in this deck? I tested it yesterday and find it's in good cooperation with Frantic Search, Toils of Night and Day and Hidden Strings, may be worth the two lands sac. The main problem I met currently is the lack of 0 or 1 mana spells, which blocks Mizzix from a 6 lands start up. Except for Gitaxian Probe, Brainstorm, Ponder, Preordain, is there any other fuels? I am tested Retraced Image and considering Sleight of Hand , Opt, Portent or even Gut Shot. Any thoughts or suggestions?

So far I have played the deck for two weeks, including multiplayer and Two-headed giant games. The result turns out to be very good. Since my meta is heavy in counters and kills, my strategy is to win in the turn I run Mizzix, may be not the first or second time, but there always be opportunities that u can win with nothing on field. The most impressive games I can recall are the following one :

It's a 4-players free fight. The commanders are Heartless Hidetsugu, Meren, Daxos the returned and my Mizzix. I played mizzix once and got killed by a Path to Exile while I have no experience counter, so I just wait and accumulate my hand. Hidetsugu entered the battle field and beat everyone to around 17~18 life. after several more rounds, I got 5 islands and 3 red mana and draw high tide, so I decide to risk Mizzix. I used high tide and then played Mizzix, followed by a Gitaxian Probe paid with life, I looked the hand of Meren, he got Contamination and Sidisi, obviously he can just win the board at his turn to tutor a Awakening Zone to accompany Contamination. So I am forced to beat him in my turn. I tried to cast 6 spells and used Ignite Memories target Meren. He has 17 life left, and it costs only 5 random choices from his hand. A very nicely and bravely win.

Now I have a question about Reset and Gamble, since these two cards are a little expensive, I wonder how important are they in this deck ? Currently I have other spells to replace them, if u guys feel they are must haves, I perhaps need to buy them.

Today I tested the deck in another multiplayers game, we played Two-Headed Giant and 5 players free fight.

In the Two-Headed Giant EDH game, I accompanied with Animar against Marath with Tasigur. I have to say although Animar is nearly a tier 1 deck, we lose the game very quickly and the process is almost choking. With Marath the canon tower on field, my Mizzix has almost no chance to stay on board for one turn, never to say my critical spells are all countered by Tasigur... You could wait, but Marath has so many threads forcing u to use your precious spells so sometimes even I could resolve my commander, there's nothing left in hand to accumulate any experience counters. honestly to say, in the whole game the only card I am dreaming of is Lightning Greaves, Lightning Greaves and more Lightning Greaves. I have to say when facing such aggressive commanders, Mizzix could have big trouble.

In the 5 players free fight. Mizzix can win some games, if she escaped from other players concerns. but she is very fragile against removal spells. Her wincon should have subtle luck included.

Frank_Glascock, thank u for the replies. This afternoon I tested the deck (mainly based on Welgo's list) in 3 players multi-game. I found there's a logic behind the lack of protections: the timing are more important than the protection. U can hold Mizzix for enough mama and cast her out to accumulate 3 or 4 experience counters in one or two turns, and then her present is of little relevant. U can let her die and waiting for the right moment to let her out and win the game. More protections is good but with too many such cards u are getting harder to make the storm or infinite mana process fluid. So now I am temporally happy with the lists, but more tests are needed.

btw, sometimes u can win without Mizzix, just 6~8 lands and with Turnabout/Reality Spasm and Reiterate in hand u can win with infinite mana by Comet Storm or stroke of genius. For this reason, I added Nivix Guildmage to reinforce this wincon and turned out to be very effective. Guildmage with those cards can also let u win without your commander. I win 4 of the 5 games this afternoon, which impressed me even more on how effective and powerful this deck could be, in one of these games I won with empty board by Epic experiment and Mind's Desire!

Picked this up from a fb commander page. You can hold priority in response to a Mizzix trigger and cast another spell of the same cost if you want to rack up counters. For example, Cast Preordain. Mizzix's ability triggers and is on stack. Hold priority. Cast Brainstorm. Mizzix's ability triggers since the first is still on stack and no counter has been placed on her yet. This is cool and big indication for me for some future ideas..I know in theory you can pretty much win the game upon netting mana from Frantic Searching..back to the drawing board.

Edit: the dream: Gitaxian Probe hold priority, Mental Misstep it, Wheel of Fortune, hold priority and cast Frantic Search...from there anything could happen

Wow, I didn't see it could be used this way, interesting. Then the lady is more powerful then previously thinking. And thank you for all the replies to my questions. Smile I am going to test your list today with my friends.

Hi, I am attracted by Mizzix after the C15 release game with my friends. Of course, I used this goblin lady. Now I am thinking about turn it into a competitive casual play deck in local meta and after some research I found the thread by Dies_to_Doom_Blade and Welgo, both are very inspiring and here's my concerns:

    1. Have you tested both lists in a real game? I see there's little protective methods like Lightning Greaves or lot's of counter spells. Then how hard is it for Mizzix to survive under common removal spells namely all the "SoP"s and black "Edict" s ? What's your plan? Hold Mizzix for enough mana and then burst into +4 experience counters in one shot? My meta plays two-headed giant EDH, so I wonder if Mizzix can last to that point.

    2. How hard is the lists against popular decks like Prosch, Animar, Marath, etc. ?

    3. How about Pull from the Deep and Foresee? I think these cards can be inserted into the lists?

    4. I ran into this card Mana Severance when searching, does it help to Epic Experiment and Mind's Desire ?

Guys, what do u think about this new artifact?

May be it could replace the Gilded Lotus? Think about this: attack with any creature, and then using this goggle to cast Howl of the Horde, then any wheel,5 wheels on the way.
