Feb 23, 2016whoareyoupeople posted a message on [Primer] Blue Moon: UR Blood Moon/Shackles ControlHow do you all feel about Grixis Moon? I've been playing more or less the same list as Jason Chung (http://www.mtgmintcard.com/articles/writers/jason-chung/tournament-report-pt-oath-of-the-gatewatch-10th) and loving it, but I'm fairly new to the deck, so I wanted some advice from people that understand the deck better.Posted in: Control

I feel like I'm missing something here.Posted in: Modern Archives
Jan 5, 2016So sorry, I don't want to read through 48 more pages of this thread but I wanted to ask you all how Jund beats this deck? Outside of the painter's servant sideboard tech, I'm somewhat lost for words on how to make this matchup favorable even post board.Posted in: Modern Archives
Thank you! And, again, sorry if this has already been beaten to death, it's just something I haven't been able to figure out on my own.

I would argue that it's a control deck.
Jan 4, 2016whoareyoupeople posted a message on Current Modern Banlist Discussion (9/28/2015 update - No changes!)In my personal opinion, it seems that Amulet of Vigor is really what is allowing the combo to function. Being able to tap a single bounceland multiple times seems pretty bonkers. If anything gets a ban it would be amulet. I don't think they would have nearly the same clock if that is banned, but there are other cards they could abuse (to a lesser extent) if bloom is banned.Posted in: Modern Archives

He had 3 amulets in play. The Slayer's Stronghold was brought in off of the last Titan, along with a Boros Garrison. It untapped 3 times, so in response to each trigger, he tapped it to give one of the titans haste.
Exactly. It was absolutely insane.
Jan 4, 2016Well, after last night's Amulet Bloom victory in SCGIN I think the consensus is that bloom or amulet will be banned.Posted in: Modern Archives
The pilot mulled to 5 in the top 8, didn't play a land his first turn and still won on T4 with multiple titans on the board. The deck is absolutely explosive. In another game he had all 4 titans in play T3, giving 3 of them haste. That was in his match against Abzan Company.
The deck is too explosive and absolutely wins "out of nowhere" as Cedric Phillips stated.
Dec 17, 2015Posted in: ModernQuote from Bocephus »You need to go back and look at the first reprint for MM2013. Goyfs were $110ish prior to the set coming out, dipped to $90ish, then climbed to $200 and sat between $150 and $200 until the second reprint of MM2015. Clique was $70ish before mm2013 and dropped to the $40-$50 mark, then climbed bcak up to the $60-$70 area before it was printed again in MM2015. It took 2 reprintings and a Judge foil to get Bob (a card not played a lot in the format) to go from $75 to $30-$40. Kiki was reprinted twice and had a spot in a vault set, to get it down to the sub $20 price tag. Thats a lot of printing to get a card down.
I actually have a pretty detailed spreadsheet of prices for some the MM2015 Mythics and Notable Rares (sorry not all the mythics were on this list, I made it with consideration to cards I was interested in, so important cards like Karn aren't on the list). I think it's pretty interesting to see where the cards were at (once they were spoiled) and how they decreased in price during those two weeks. I actually bought a playset of Tarmogoyf for around $540 which is pretty great considering a week later the set was over $600 again.
I wonder what conclusions we could draw from these numbers pending the MM2017 release.

Just the idea of her being reprinted in SOI will probably drop her from her price of $110 to around $70-$80. To me, that's almost as good as a reprint.
Geist appears to have already dropped from $18 to $10 on SCG.
If she gets reprinted, her price will be like around $30-40 imho. She already can be had for like $80 if you look around.
Oh absolutely, I'm just saying that, in the off chance that she isn't reprinted in SOI, the speculation alone will be satisfactory to me because it will drop her price either way. I would absolutely love to get a set of Lillys for $200 or less.

Dec 15, 2015I agree with the Geist Reprint hinting towards her also being reprinted. I mean what better time to print her than in the return to her home plane?Posted in: Modern
It is worth noting that geist is only spoiled for the duel decks though. So if he is only in the supplemental product, that could be a little off-putting.
Dec 15, 2015whoareyoupeople posted a message on [SOI] New Ability Word on Spoiled Demon - 4 Card Types in GraveyardPosted in: New Card DiscussionI wouldn't be so hasty to say Tarmo won't get a reprint in SOI. With the new rotation Wizards have said there is more space for reprints.
What makes you believe that Tarmogoyf would be reprinted in Shadows? It was just part of a supplemental set and was last printed in future sight which was a very different set than INN. It just doesn't make much sense to think he would make another appearance in a block dedicated to angels, demons, humans, zombies and werewolves.
Dec 15, 2015Posted in: ModernQuote from motleyslayer »Quote from dunpeal2064 »I think the price on Lili is fair, but not so great that it is a must buy. She isn't really a $100 card anymore. For example (And I guess a PSA for anyone that wants to jump on it), there is a MP Lili on tcgplayer right now for $74 shipped, and what looks to be about a dozen others right in the $85 range. So, while still a fair deal, I'm not so sure it is a snap buy. I guess it depends on how easily you could trade them to make that $10 profit worth it, rather than just spending the initial $75 on cards that you do need.
what makes you say she's not an $100 card anymore, I was looking at getting one on face to face for $125 CDN but I might look around locally first
would you wait for her to drop?
I've heard a lot about her being reprinted in Shadows Over Innistrad. There was a MaRo article about how she was slotted into M15 but was pushed back to another set to prevent Mono Black warping the format. Then, there was another on his blog about how we are guaranteed to see Liliana in Shadows.
I would, of course, take it with a grain of salt, but there is always a possiblity she gets reprinted in April and drops to around $40.
Feb 23, 2015So, the glaring issue with this deck seems to be the lack of win cons. I understand that it is a mill deck, but, looking at your list on tapped out, there are almost no actual mill cards. Phenax is an interesting card, but you have to understand that the major turn 5 cards currently affecting standard are boardwipes (end hostilities and crux of fate), which means that your walls will most likely be in the graveyard by the time you can afford to cast him.Posted in: Standard Archives
Ashiok is currently your best option and should absolutely be at least a 3 of if you're planning on success. Liliana is a very dead card in this deck. The discard is completely ineffective by T5 and the search function will not win you games or even protect you because you're running too little removal to effect the board in any major way. If you're playing her for the discard function I would recommend any cheaper discard spell (mind rot, rakshasa's secret), brain maggot (which triggers constellation) or despise. If you're choosing her for the search function, you're almost better off running a read the bones or two to effectively filter your deck early to find the card you need when you need it.
Unfortunately in a Standard where the meta is dominated by removal and big hitting creatures, you will more-than-likely be forced to sac a wall early making the "rely on Phenax to mill" plan pretty ineffective.
Honestly, if you're looking for a fun deck that would be cheap and win much more often I would recommend either UW Heroic, Boss Sligh or RW Aggro/Heroic. They have much better successes and cost effectively nothing compared to decks like Abzan.
I hope this helps!
