Burn was tearing up Magic Online pre Khans and I've heard a lot of talk about the meta shifting back more that way, if that happens is Leyline of Sanctity a good choice to destroy the mirror? In the current meta burn is right behind Delver and Pod so without those two we are left with Burn and Scapeshift which Leyline can stop them too so anyone think it's a good idea?
I get that Pod was a very powerful deck for the entire time of modern but banning the entire deck seems odd to me. When Jund was all powerful they banned Bloodbraid Elf to slow it down with the logic that Jund would be the only deck hurt by that ban and therefore less powerful. They could have just banned Liliana of the Veil, killed the deck and been done with it. When they wanted to hurt Storm they could have banned Pyromancer Ascension and been done with it but they didn't want to kill any deck which at the time I respected a lot because I wouldn't want to be the guy who spent all that money on a deck just to see it become unplayable. Maybe a Kitchen Finks ban would have been more appropriate to slow down the deck since that card is barely played outside of Pod or it could have just been a simple meta change would have balanced out things with Delver getting weakened but I don't really know. Oh well RIP Pod.
I was reading the discussion of Soulfire Grand Master and I 100% agree that is would make a great sideboard card worth testing, so I'm excited to see that printed.
My point about RUG Delver is that in other matchups it is easy to ignore bigger creatures but when they can have big creatures and disrupt my game plan it becomes hard to deal with, especially post board when they can bring in hard counters that can't be easily played around like Dispel and Negate.
What can we bring in against RUG Delver? Tarmogoyf is much more of a threat and faster clock with counter magic back up than it is in the Junk match up. Also Savage Knuckleblade out of the sideboard for them gives another 4 toughness creature that is difficult to deal with.
Hi everyone I have been lurking this thread for awhile and i figure its about time I hop on in. I have been having trouble with my sideboard and was hoping to get some input on what anyone thinks.
I have been very happy with my main board with the exception of Shard Volley, I was running 2 Lightning Helix in its place but decided I liked helix better in the sideboard over a card like Dragon's Claw as its not as narrow.
Helix and Blood are anti aggro
Fallout for sweeper, lookin at you Delver
Flames for more anti life gain, like pod and junk
Stony I'm kinda on the fence about, I feel like i could drop it in favor of another flames and another smash
